Return of the Prodigy Chapter 154
Jaylen suddenly slammed the table. It was so loud that Silas instantly shot up from the couch in shock.
"Kneel down this instant," said Jaylen angrily.
Silas instantly knelt without hesitation.
Jaylen looked at him intently as he spoke in fury, "Do you think you are very smart? How dare you lie to me? Do you think I am a fool?"
"Dad..." Silas made to explain himself.
The butler reminded him from the side, "I just received a call demanding your father to go to Lisle and make an apology. I think it's time for you to tell the truth." "What?" Silas raised his head in shock instantly.
Jaylen narrowed his eyes as he stared at his son.
Silas was so scared that he trembled. He did not dare withhold the truth and came clean about his deeds.
Jaylen looked even angrier. He said furiously, "You good-for-nothing! How dare you call yourself a Camden? How could you let a nobody do this to you? Don't you have any brains?"
Silas did not dare retort. Instead, he knelt on the ground obediently as his father reprimanded him.
Jaylen scolded his son disappointedly. "You have already failed to take them out repeatedly and even falsified orders from the Chamber of Commerce. You are a complete embarrassment to the family! Hasn't it dawned on you? What is the Hamilton family going to say when they replace out? You idiot. You are not getting involved with the matter from now on. You are grounded until I say so! Get your a*s back home!"
Silas did not dare to talk back. He simply bowed as he left the room.
Jaylen contemplated briefly before taking his phone to call Enrico. "Enrico, is the Hartley family friends with the Hamilton family?"
Enrico spoke mildly over the phone. "Why are you asking?"
Enrico had reached out to him about colluding with the four other members of the Chamber of Commerce, but Jaylen had not agreed to do it right away. Thus, Enrico wanted to know the reason for Jaylen's call.
Jaylen naturally did not tell Enrico about the things Silas had done. Instead, he said casually, "I just wanted to replace out more about the Hartley family. I was just wondering why the Hamiltons would keep helping them."
Enrico paused for a couple of seconds before he replied, "Their elders knew each other."
Jaylen raised his brow. "Is that so?"
After chatting briefly, Jaylen hung up the phone.
Did their elders know each other?"
"I have a feeling the wily fox isn't telling me the entire truth. He is definitely up to something." A cold look swept across Jaylen's eyes. He did not trust Enrico fully.
"It doesn't matter if Enrico is holding something back from me. Since they have insulted our family, we have to do something about it. He should have thought twice about fighting us. No matter who he is, no one can get away with humiliating the family! Give the orders. I want everyone to stop working with Hartley Group!"
"Does he want me to go over to Lisle personally and apologize? In that case, have someone go over. After we are done with them, we'll buy them up at cutthroat prices. If they attempt to make us change our minds, just tell them I won't see them!"
When Jaylen gave the orders, it felt as though he could finish off the company effortlessly like they were mere ants. Considering the family's status and power in town, it was probably true that they could ruin Hartley Group effortlessly. Sadly, they had made a slight miscalculation about Adam!
Sofia was right. Even though Hartley Group was very small, it had a powerful man in its ranks!

Meanwhile, in Lisle in the afternoon.
Katie was sitting behind her desk in the office handling documents when her secretary suddenly came in and said worriedly, "Ms. Hartley, bad news. Someone from Sunshine Group suddenly called. They want to stop working with us." Katie was shocked to hear this. "Why?"
The moment she finished her sentence, the phone on her desk rang.
Katie answered the phone immediately.
A cold voice could be heard over the phone. "Ms. Hartley, I called to inform you that our business with the company ends now."
Katie was stunned. She asked anxiously, "Mr. Ortiz, why?"
However, the caller had already hung up the phone.
Katie wanted to call him back, but her mobile phone rang this time.
"Hello? Is this Ms. Hartley? The trucks in charge of sending building materials suddenly turned back. What should we do?"
Before Katie was able to answer, Renna barged in and said worriedly, "Ms. Hartley, someone from another company called to inform us they're not working with us either. What's going on?"
It was one bad news after another. Katie stumbled and sat back down in her chair, her mind going blank.
What's going on?
Why would all of our business partners suddenly sever ties with Hartley Group? Why would they ostracize the company?
As Katie contemplated, Adam entered the office and said calmly, "Stop worrying. I know what's going on."
"Do you?" asked Katie in astonishment.
Katie, Jenny, and Renna looked at Adam in unison.
Adam said, "It's Silas. He couldn't take his defeat, so he masterminded this to get back at us. It's a two-pronged strategy against us. First, he will get us blacklisted in the banking trade and cut off our funding. Second, he will use his connections with the Chamber of Commerce and make our business partners stop working with us."
Adam briefly told Katie about the intel he had gathered from Gavin yesterday.
Katie smiled grimly and said, "Did he get Alameda County's Chamber of Commerce involved? He sure thinks highly of us."
"Ms. Hartley, what should we do now? If we get ostracized, the resort project has to stop and our company will..."
Even though Jenny did not finish her sentence, the consequences were clear.
Adam sighed and said, "Don't worry. Andrew is the president of the Chamber of Commerce in Alameda County. If we have to, we can ask him for help."
Katie turned to glance at Adam. After all, Andrew would only help since he was friends with Adam.
Adam smiled and said comfortingly, "Don't worry. I'll handle it."
Adam did not tell Katie everything. Just yesterday, he had given Black Dragon orders to tell the Camden family about his demands. The moment he sent word to the Camden family, this happened to them today. Silas was clearly not well connected enough to pull this off. It had the Camden family's fingerprints all over it.
Adam did not mind if the Camdens wanted to help Silas. It was the perfect opportunity to replace out who their supporters were.
"Adam, do you really have a solution?" Katie still felt worried. This time, Silas probably had the backing of his entire family, and his family was very powerful around town.
Adam smiled and said, "Just trust me."
Katie nodded as she smiled sadly.
The phone on the table kept ringing off the hook as they spoke.
Before long, employees ran into the office one after another. Judging from the expressions on their faces, it must be bad news, so the atmosphere in the office felt tense. Then, a security guard ran into the office and said, "Ms. Hartley, someone from the Camden family is here."
The Camden family?
The moment Katie heard these words, she was scared. "Someone from the Camden family? Invite him in immediately."
