Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 170
A woman wearing a beret and a checkered suit walked into the meeting room with quick steps, her paddock boots clacking on the floor. She swept her gaze across the people in the room with her beautiful eyes, her red lips curling up into a smile. Katie had met her twice before, and Andrew had always been busy keeping Clarissa in check during their encounters.
The girl that had barged into the room was none other than Clarissa Hamilton.
Katie was surprised that she had come all the way to Lisle. Are the Hamiltons also entering the fray?
Clarissa looked at Katie and nodded. Then, she introduced herself, "Some of you might not know me, so let me introduce myself. I'm a Hamilton."
The people in the room were shocked.
Satisfied with their reaction, Clarissa continued, "Yes, I'm one of those Hamiltons who live in the capital."
If any of the gentlemen still had doubts about her identity, they were cleared now crystal clear.
From the looks of it, the Hamiltons were also on the move.
The people in the room turned to look at Mr. Ortiz, whose expression was unsightly. He snarled, "I don't care who you are, and you aren't even a member of this Chamber of Commerce!
"Guards throw her out!"
Four security guards came over, and one of them said, "Miss, you should leave."
Clarissa quirked an eyebrow and asked calmly, "Are you trying to drive me out?"
"These are the orders," the security guard said with a deadpan face.
Mr. Ortiz smiled, satisfied. He suspected someone might try to ruin his plans, so he brought along security guards who would listen only to him. If Clarissa thinks of intimidating them with her status, she is in for a surprise! "Don't forget her," Mr. Ortiz said as he pointed at Katie.
Katie snorted, her anger evident.
Clarissa shook her head and sighed. "It won't end well for you guys. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, get rid of them."
"Yes, Miss." Four women wearing black suits entered the room. Without wasting any time, they walked up to the security guards.
The security guards were surprised, and they prepared to put up a fight.
However, the four women grabbed their arms and threw them to the ground effortlessly.
All the people in the meeting room were shocked. They looked at the ordinary-looking women in disbelief.
Then, the four women dragged the security guards out of the room.
Clarissa pouted and said disdainfully, "Is there anyone else who wants to drive me out?"
Clarissa was Andrew's favorite granddaughter, and she was daring enough to pull pranks even on her grandfather. For this reason, there were always bodyguards with her when she went outside, lest she got herself into trouble. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter had been with her ever since she was a child.
"If no one has anything to say, I'll take a seat," said Clarissa as she headed toward a man. She stood beside him, without saying a word.
After hesitating for a short while, the man stood up and left her his seat.
Clarissa smiled and turned to look at Katie. "Katie, why don't you sit down?"
Calling Katie by her first name was a way to tell the people in the room that the relationship between the two of them was pretty close.
The gentleman seated next to Clarissa got the hint and hurried to stand up.
Katie walked over and sat down. She then whispered, "Clarissa, why are you here? Was it Mr. Hamilton who told you to come over?"
Clarissa replied, "Grandfather said that the Camdens have sent their dog to Lisle. Since I was free and had nothing to do, I decided to come here to teach this naughty doggy a lesson."
Mr. Ortiz, who sat at the head of the table, was furious. "Even if you're a Hamilton, you have no qualifications to interfere with Lisle's Chamber of Commerce. You'd be violating the rules, which is something I'll definitely report to Alameda County's Chamber of Commerce."
Clarissa rolled her eyes and said mockingly, "What nonsense are you babbling about? I never said I was going to interfere with your meeting."
Mr. Ortiz snorted. "If you aren't going to interfere, why are you here?"
Clarissa said calmly, "I came here to visit a friend. Is there a problem with that?"
Mr. Ortiz was so angry that he wished he could curse at the top of his lungs. However, he knew that he could not drive Clarissa out with his status, and it would do him no good to keep arguing with her.
Moreover, even if one of the Hamiltons was here, it did not mean much. He had bribed most of the businessmen seated in the room, and they now worked for him and the Camdens.
Mr. Ortiz snorted and ignored Clarissa. He glanced at the other people in the room and said, "Let's cast the vote. Those who think that I should become the next president, raise your hands!"
The gentlemen seated in the room looked at each other and raised their hands after a short moment of hesitation.
Mr. Ortiz was pleased with the result. He smiled proudly. "Everybody, thank you for your support. From today onwards, I, Leroy Ortiz, will-"
Before he could finish, he was interrupted.
"Grandfather, can you see me? I'm in Lisle. The guys are casting a vote to elect the new President of the Chamber of Commerce," Clarissa said. "As you can see, they have all raised their hands." She pointed her phone at the gentlemen seated in the room. Andrew's wrinkled face appeared on the screen, a doting smile on his face.
When they saw Andrew, the businessmen that had raised their hands were scared out of their wits. A third of them lowered their arms as a conditioned reflex.
"Clarissa, don't bother the gentlemen. Take a good look at their faces and get back," reprimanded Andrew.
The expression of the chairmen changed again. Soon after, another one-third lowered their hands in fright.
Now, less than half of the people in the room had their hands raised.
Leroy's face fell.
Clarissa swept the businessmen and said calmly, "Grandfather, I still have something to do. I'll talk to you later." After hanging up the call, she said to Leroy, "It seems I've interrupted your speech. Please, continue."
Leroy stared daggers at Clarissa. Aware that he could do nothing about her, he pounded the table and snarled, "Gentlemen, don't forget our agreement. What the Hamiltons can do, the Camdens can do as well!"
The faces of the businessmen flushed. They complained inwardly about being placed between a rock and a hard place. However, they could not help but pay extra attention to Leroy's words. After all, the Camdens had spared no efforts to meddle in Lisle's Chamber of Commerce, even going as far as to buy Woodroad Group.
They sighed inwardly and raised their hands after some consideration.
Leroy looked at them, satisfied. "As I was saying... Henceforth, I, Leroy Ortiz, will act as the President of Lisle's Chamber of Commerce," he said in one breath, afraid that someone might interrupt him again.
With his speech concluded, he could finally smile.
This mission had been a success. Now, he only had to unite every company that was part of the Chamber of Commerce and put pressure on Hartley Group.
"This is my first order as President of the Chamber of Commerce. We'll join forces and sanction Hartley Group. None of the members of the Chamber of Commerce will be allowed to do business with them, or you'll be expelled as well!"
After issuing the order, Leroy looked at Katie with a mocking gaze.
At this moment, the sound of footsteps came from outside.
"What makes you think you can take decisions on behalf of Lisle's Chamber of Commerce?"
"President of the Chamber of Commerce, huh? We don't remember casting a vote for you!"
