Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 34

As the night fell, the lights sparkled brightly.

At Macchiavelli's, Katie, Peter, and Matilda stood in front of the hotel welcoming guests.

After going through countless hardships, they finally secured the first installment of the project payment - one billion. Overjoyed, Dave immediately booked a whole floor of the restaurant to host a grand banquet. Not only did he invite relatives and friends from the clan, but he also extended invitations to all counterparts in Lisle City.

It wasn't just a display of wealth; there was another layer of meaning.

At this moment, luxury cars parked in front of the restaurant, and CEOs with smiles on their faces walked into the establishment.

"Mr. Washington, you're here. Come in please."

"Mr. Doyle, how are you? Thanks for coming."

"Mr. Payton, please take a seat inside. My grandfather is having a chat with the others."

Peter and Matilda warmly greeted the guests.

As for Katie, she awkwardly stood next to them, unable to chime in. She was an ordinary employee until not too long ago, and she knew the businessmen that had come today only by name.

"Haha, and you still want to be in charge of the project?"

"Do you know where to purchase construction materials? Do you know who to contact for construction work?"

"Those who know their place should step aside. At best, you might become a small project manager. Otherwise... hmph, it'll be a complete disgrace."

Matilda sneered and mocked.

Katie sighed but didn't respond because what Matilda said was true.

At this moment, a brand new and shiny BMW the 7 arrived. Katie was about to step forward to welcome them, but Matilda immediately rushed forward, twisted her waist, and even deliberately bumped into Katie. "Get away, letting you welcome the guests here is a disgrace to the Hartleys," Matilda muttered.

When the car stopped, Matilda quickly went to the back door to help open it.

"Hello, welcome..."

Her voice abruptly stopped, and Matilda stared wide-eyed with an expression of disbelief.

The next second, as if she had been stepped on the tail, Matilda jumped back and screamed, "How is it you?"

"Sis, what's wrong? Which CEO came that surprised you so much?" Peter frowned and walked over quickly. "Trey?!"

Peter also exclaimed, looking unbelieving.

"You... this car? How is that possible?" Peter couldn't accept it.

They thought some CEO had arrived, but it turned out to be the Hartleys, considered useless?

Trey, holding Annie, got out of the car slowly, his face flushed as he explained, "Qian Lang, the car... the car was a gift from Adam Drake to us." "Adam Drake?"

Peter immediately turned to look at Adam Drake, who had just stepped out of the driver's seat.

"Him? This loser can afford a car? And he gave it to you?" Peter found it even harder to believe.

"Dad, Mom, what's going on?" Katie hurried over, also looking puzzled.

Trey blushed and explained the situation again.

As soon as he finished speaking, Matilda's grating laughter echoed in their ears.

"Hahaha, hah... laugh, you're killing me. Are you guys naive, or are you just plain stupid? Did you really think this lunatic could afford a car?"

"Do you know how much this car costs? Top-of-the-line imported model, nearly three million yuan in full payment. Do you think this lunatic has 1 million?"

"If he had three million, would he still be your son-in-law? So, it's obvious this car is rented!"

"You guys are really willing to go to great lengths to show off. Renting this car probably costs two thousand yuan a day, right? Is it worth puffing up your face just to look rich?" Rented? Trey and Gemma's expressions changed simultaneously.

1... 1million?

Not dozen of thousand?

Trey and Gemma were greatly surprised, quickly realizing the truth in their hearts.

Matilda was right. How could Adam afford three million? He couldn't possibly buy this car, so it must be rented.

"Damn, I thought you sincerely wanted to be good to us."

"I didn't expect you to dare to use a rented car to deceive us. What's your intention? Do you want us to pay the rent?"

"Divorce, you must divorce tomorrow."

Gemma was furious, blaming this trouble on the useless man again.

Trey sighed and whispered, "Alright, say a little less. Although he shouldn't have rented the car, he did help us out just now. Weren't you quite... happy about it?"

"You shut up. In the end, it's because he's not good enough himself. Otherwise, would he use a rented car to show off? Look at other sons-in-law and then look at him..." "Mum!" Katie frowned and interrupted.

She had basically understood what was going on. Although she didn't agree with Adam's actions, he was well-intentioned. He didn't want to be humiliated, and occasional vanity could be understood. "Hehehe, watching your family fight is really enjoyable," Matilda stood aside, laughing uncontrollably.

Adam frowned and sneered, "Isn't your face hurting?"

Matilda was frightened and took two steps back.

But Adam didn't make a move; instead, he turned back to the car to replace the registration.

Just reveal the name on the registration, and it would be clear if the car was rented.

But at this moment, someone in the restaurant called them. The guests had all arrived, and the banquet was about to begin.
