Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 82
Adam made a call in front of everyone.
Shortly after, four police cars roared in, and a group of policemen quickly appeared, dispersing the crowd. At first, the crowd was surprised, followed by a wave of boos.
"Boo... What happened to taking on the whole world alone? Ended up calling the police in the end?" "Knew he was just showing off and bragging!"
"I'll see how I can ruin him when I get back. Dare to offend us journalists, I'll make him socially dead! Hmph!"
The crowd left angrily, but everyone knew that this matter had just begun, far from over.
Next, Adam and Katie would face a barrage of reports from journalists and comments from netizens.
There would be doxxing, exposure of phone numbers, discrimination against their children, and more.
A real storm was brewing.
Unless Adam truly had the strength to take on the whole world alone, there would be no turning back in this matter!
Looking at Adam and Katie, the two of them walked into the Hartleys Group hand in hand, seemingly oblivious to the dangers that lay ahead.
In the office, Katie finally let go of Adam's arm.
Thinking back to the kiss just now, her cheeks still couldn't help but blush. After all, she wasn't a frivolous woman.
"Well, I need to start working. You go replace something to do too," Katie said gently.
Adam nodded, then left the office.
As soon as he left, Jenny, Renna, and Emma rushed into the office, gossiping excitedly.
"Katie, you were so cool just now."
"And Mr. Drake, you was so domineering, overflowing with boyfriend power."
"Ugh, so jealous of you guys."
Katie blushed and said, "Alright, alright, get to work quickly. I'll have him introduce some comrades to you later."
Listening to the chatter of the three women, Adam smiled and shook his head. It was good to have them around; at least Katie had someone to chat with.
Adam went downstairs and out of the Hartleys Group, took out his phone, and called Black Dragon.
"How's the investigation you asked for?"
Black Dragon said, "I've already contacted the person in charge of Swindlers' Guild in Alameda County, and he's on his way to Lisle."
"The identity of Joseph has also been clarified. He belongs to the one of the Eight Generals under Swindlers' Guild. His name within Swindlers' Guild is 'Joseph,' but we haven't confirmed if it's his real name yet."
"As for his purpose in coming to Lisle, it's still unclear. According to the investigation, Swindlers' Guild hasn't assigned him any tasks."
Adam nodded, "Alright, let me know when he arrives. Also, what about the incident from six years ago?"
"We've got some leads, and I've already sent someone to pick up the involved party."
"Good. Hurry up."
After hanging up the phone, Adam frowned in contemplation.
The concept of "Swindlers' Guild Eight Generals" had existed since ancient times, and it still existed today. It was a relatively large force in the martial arts world, with a diverse membership, but it couldn't be underestimated. Especially the true "veterans," each one of them had extensive connections and a large circle. Of course, these people rarely showed themselves, making it challenging to encounter them in the martial world.
The division, to which Joseph belonged, was the foremost among the Eight Generals and served as the all-around experts in Swindlers' Guild.
Speaking of which, the common perception that Swindlers' Guild was just about gambling and conning people was a misconception. In reality, the Swindlers' Guild system was quite extensive.
The Eight Generals were divided into "Upper Eight Generals" and "Lower Eight Generals."
Each of these sixteen divisions had different specialties, and what each division excelled at was another matter. What puzzled Adam was that since Swindlers' Guild hadn't assigned any tasks to Joseph, what was his purpose in coming to Lisle? People from Swindlers' Guild were purposeful; they wouldn't do meaningless things without a reason.
So, did Swindlers' Guild have any connection with the Dragon family massacre six years ago?
A cold light flashed in Adam's eyes, but the next moment, he suppressed his thoughts and stopped thinking about it.
Regardless, the truth would come to light one day. As for Joseph's purpose, he would replace out when the person in charge of Swindlers' Guild arrived.
...
...
At the same time, in a certain cards parlor.
"Mr. Hartley, are you going to make a move or not?"
"Yeah, stop dilly-dallying, hurry up, maybe your luck will change after a couple more rounds."
"How about a change? How about playing Golden Flower?"
Trey nodded with sweat pouring down his forehead.
"What about you guys, playing cards?"
"Either way is fine, take care of Mr. Hartley's feelings!"
The group quickly changed the game.
With a change in the game, Trey's luck turned around quickly, and the cold sweat on his forehead gradually disappeared, replaced by a smile. "No, no, I'm not good at this, let's play cards instead," someone complained.
Trey immediately replied, "No, this one is good, this one is good."
The card game continued...
As the sun set, and night fell.
At 6:30 in the afternoon, after a busy day, Katie had just finished work when she suddenly received a call from the Hartleys.
"Tonight at the Hartleys, a celebration banquet for Daniel. You must come."
Click!
The call ended abruptly, with the other party not wanting to say more to Katie, nor giving her a chance to refuse.
Katie frowned, a strong sense of unease rising in her heart.
Daniel, her former fiancé.
And today's scandal with Amanda in the company...
Both of these, each one could be an excuse for the Hartleys to deal with her. Without guessing, she knew this was a trap. "What's wrong?" Beside her, Adam asked.
"The Hartleys wants us to attend a banquet."
"Hehe, then let's go. It's a good opportunity to settle some scores!" Adam smiled with narrowed eyes.
