Chapter 472

Rita walked to the bedside and sat on the small stool next to the lied.

She glanced at Yulia, who was already awake, and said softly, "Yulla, you're awake.

"Are you hungry? I brought you some Oatmeal.

"The doctor said you can only have liquid food for the next few days and should avoid heavy meals, so I made Oatmeal for you."

Yulia didn't say a word, her gaze still vacant, staring at the ceiling

Rita stood up, noticing the wetness at the corner of her eyes, and gently said, "Yulia, it's okay. Everything will be alright. Grandma's here. "Be good. It's just a small setback in life.

"Once you're recovered, you'll still be an elegant, gracious, and knowledgeable young lady as before."

Hearing what her grandma said, Yulia stared at the ceiling and chuckled helplessly. "Hahaha.

"I want to see my parents. I need to see them. Grandma, please give me my phone. I need to call them.

"I want my parents to take me back to Fresburg. I don't want to stay here in Clusia anymore, and I don't want Morris.

"He's a monster and terrifying. I can't handle this. I was just too delusional and overestimated myself.

"I'm truly ridiculously foolish.

"Please, Grandma..."

Yulia's tears kept falling as she desperately begged Rita.

Rita's face grew colder as she heard the remarks.

Staring at Yulia's extremely distressed face, she said, "Yulia, you might have had a bit of a mental shock. Just rest for a few more days to let your wounds heal. "I'll take care of things like your phone for now.

"If you have something to tell your parents, wait until your wounds heal in a few days.

"Let's leave it at that. I have things to do, so I'll be off now."

After those words, Rita left the room without any sign of hesitation.

The large hospital room felt empty once again, except now there was a steaming pot of oatmeal left behind.

Yulia tightly shut her eyes after watching her grandmother leave, and let out a mocking laugh.

She kept laughing.

Every time she laughed, her wound would throb with pain, but she didn't care anymore.

She was mocking herself.

At that moment, she realized that she was just a dispensable pawn.

It turned out that her grandfather's advice and Cherise's warning when she first arrived at the entrance of Azure Peak were all meant to remind her. Good advice was hard to swallow, and now she finally understood it.

She was experiencing pain, helplessness, frustration, and regret.

Unfortunately, it was all too late.

After chatting with Jason and Dora at GlobalVision Group, Cherise leisurely made her way down to the underground second floor to replace Crow. Cherise had asked him to cover two classes at Betrico University. He had just returned from outside.

Seeing Cherise, he shook his head with a straight face, looking very aggrieved.

He picked up the coffee Cherise ordered for him from the table and gulped it down.

Cherise leaned against the wall with her arms crossed, watching him.

Crow relaxed and said, "Boss, that was really tough.

"Only today did I realize how much I owed my teachers back then. I never knew teaching was such hard work.

Teachers have to be standing up there and talking non-stop, and providing feedback.

"And that's at a university; I can't imagine how challenging it must be for elementary school teachers."

Cherise smiled. "You finally know, but it's never too late.

"Alright, enough about that. Did you complete what I asked you to do?"

Crow took another sip of his coffee and said, "Of course, Boss. You can always rely on me to get things done.

"I worked overtime last night. I declined Leo's and the guys' invitation to the bar. I stayed in the third row of the freeze-drying storage. Go check it out.

"If everything looks good, we can move on to the next step."

Cherise headed to the freeze-drying storage. She opened the door and walked in.

She stopped when she reached the third row, as Crow had mentioned.

Inside a white glass bottle, there was a wriggling cursed worm. This one was noticeably more active than the one she'd seen before.

This was the one that had absorbed Morris's serum that day.

In the past few days, Crow had been feeding it well according to Carson's instructions. It was indeed getting stronger and more agile. Cherise picked up the bottle and brought it to the workstation.

Seeing this, Crow set down his coffee and quickly brought her an alcohol lamp, a small bottle of alcohol, and an unlabeled bottle of clear liquid. Cherise put on her safety goggles, lit the alcohol lamp, and removed the glass lid of the bottle containing the worm.

ually picked up a dropper, sucked up several drops of clear liquid, and dripped it in. She then used tweezers to pick up a small wad of cotton soaked in alcohol, lit it via the alcohol lanp, and slowly placed it above the worm. A few seconds later, the worm was surrounded by visible flames struggling frantically.

In just a few more seconds, the once-active worm was completely incinerated, turning to ash and disappearing.

Cherise carefully observed it, took off her goggles, clapped her hands, and said to Crow next to her, "Okay, all done. As usual, you handle it from here.

"I'm heading home now. See you later."

After leaving Betrico Hospital, Rita didn't go back to her suburban villa but instead went to the Hawkins residence.

Without Yulia by her side, she didn't seem particularly lonely.

She remained elegant and poised, with an air of aristocratic pride.

Gina still hadn't come home at this hour, as she seemed to have gotten used to spending money and having fun elsewhere.

Today, when Rita returned, surprisingly she didn't shut herself in the study but sat in the living room looking out the door.

As it was getting late, all the servants had gone to rest, leaving her quietly sitting alone, gazing outside.

It was as if she was deliberately waiting for Gina to come back.

She waited until Gina returned home, somewhat inebriated, at around midnight.

Gina strolled leisurely toward the living room after the doorman informed her that Rita was there.

"Rita, I heard you haven't gone to bed yet. Were you waiting for me?" Gina asked in a sharp, unique voice even before she arrived.

Rita heard the voice, lifted her head to look over, and gently said "You're back."

"Yes, I'm home," Gina answered as she walked into the living room.

However, as she slowly approached Rita in the living room, she suddenly screamed, "Oh! Help!"
