Chapter 127 Never Ever Let Her Down

Jordan was implying that Lily and Deborah were the ones who self-directed the whole thing. Irene didn't believe it. Although she hated them very much, she wasn't convinced that they would commit such a thing for it would very likely end up shooting their own feet. After all, they were gambling with their reputations.

She returned to Thomas' place with a heavy heart. When Thomas saw her face that was plastered with anxiety, he recalled that Edric and Jordan were looking for her all over the place earlier that day. Thomas had been worried about her throughout the day, for fear that something would happen to her.

Later, Jordan called Thomas and told the latter that Irene had gone on a business trip. Soon after that, when Thomas finally reached Irene, what she told him was the same as Jordan. Although Thomas didn't quite believe it, he decided not to question the authenticity of their statements.

It was not until he saw the evening news that he realized that things had been going haywire. Seeing Irene coming over, he asked immediately, "Irene, are you alright?"

"I am all good, Uncle Thomas. It's all in the past!" Irene sat down. "Uncle Thomas, I'm famished. Can you make me a plate of spaghetti?"

Thomas went to prepare it immediately. At this time, Irene received a phone call from Kinsey. "Irene, Edric is recording a program on the TV station now."

"At this hour?" Irene took a look at the time in surprise. It was now 10 o'clock in the night. "Is there something wrong with Edric?" she wondered.

"Yeah, I just heard from my colleagues in the TV station. What do you think he is going to do?" Kinsey chirped.

"How would I know?" Irene replied.

"I knew that this would be your answer. You guys are on the cusp of everyone's attention now. In everyone's eyes, Lily is now the mistress and Edric is a jerk. Even your ex mother-in-law is now called evil by others. Aren't you worried that Edric would counterattack?"

"Just let them do whatever they want. Anyway, I didn't initiate this whole thing. Let them do whatever they want," Irene said. She had not been feeling very well. Besides, Steven even made such a scene in the hospital a while ago. She was exhausted and famished, so how could she be bothered to even care about this?

"You are indeed so kind. Normally, people will seize this opportunity to completely vanquish them, but you didn't even badmouth them or do anything about it. I'm so pissed off!" Kinsey whined.

Kinsey was infuriated by Irene's indifference. "Forget it. I'm destined to have a busy life from having friends like you. I'd better replace out why Edric is participating in the TV program at this hour. I'll tell you when I replace out the reason."

It was already the following day when Margaret found out that she was now on the headlines of every newspaper in the city. When she read the condemnation against her, Edric, and Lily in the newspaper, she was so irate that she went breathless.

At this moment, Marie called her and told her what had happened. She claimed that Irene had orchestrated the whole thing as Irene wanted to get back together with Edric. Margaret gnashed her teeth, and he sympathy for Irene disappeared at once. She swore to make Irene pay for all the criticism and verbal abuse she received.

After she hung up the phone, she called Edric immediately and questioned if the public relations of his company he hired was even doing their tasks. Why didn't they contain such big news?

Edric smiled bitterly. How could they not stop it if they could? He listened to Margaret's venting silently. In the end, he promised that he would settle this matter on that day and no media outlets would ever mention it again in the future.

Margaret hung up the phone furiously, her blood boiling with anger. She wondered how Irene could ambush her like this. After all, Margaret considered herself a nice person to Irene; she treated Irene quite wel in the past, didn't she? Although Irene couldn't get conceived back then, Margaret had accompanied her to visit the doctors a few times. How could Irene be so heartless?

Irene slept in until noon of the next day. After having a quick meal, she resumed to take a nap. To avoid being disturbed, she turned off her phone.

She slept till nighttime. It was not until Thomas asked her if she wanted to have dinner that she got up. Rubbing her rest, she felt much better after having a day of rest. Not only did she feel much more alive, but her gloomy mood had also lifted up a little.

All the dishes Thomas prepared were Irene's favorites, and they made Irene's mouth watered. She sat at the table and started to tuck in without hesitation. While she was enjoying her meal with relish, the doorbell rang. Thomas opened the door and saw Kinsey show up at the door!

"Come and let's have dinner together!" Thomas greeted Kinsey.

Kinsey accepted his invitation without hesitation when she saw that there was delicious food on the table. Thomas served her some spaghetti. Kinsey muttered while eating, "I have called you so many times today, but you've turned off your phone. I'm so freaking worried about you. Hence, I came to check on you."

"I turned off my phone because I wanted to have a rest. I'm afraid that someone will disturb me," Irene answered.

"I know you'll use this excuse." Kinsey rolled her eyes at Irene. "By the way, the program Edric participated in last night has a very high degree of secrecy. No one knows what he is recording until now." "Why don't you have some food first? Why do you always mention that disgusting man?" Irene interjected.

"You're right. Let's eat. We'll talk about it after we finish our meal."

After dinner, Kinsey and Irene sat on the sofa, shooting the breeze. They talked about Edric participating in a TV program again. "The TV program that Edric participated in last night will be broadcasted on San Fetillo Channel 1 at prime time tonight. I want to see what he was planning to do since he was acting so mysterious about it."

As she spoke, she picked up the remote control, turned on the TV, and changed to San Fetillo Channel 1.

The TV program played during the prime time would usually involve influential guests. Sometimes, they would also invite celebrities or business elites. Most of the time, their ratings were extremely high.

It was apparent that the guest that night was Edric. Since the negative news about Lily and Edric were everywhere now, Edric's purpose of participating in the program at this time must be to whitewash himself Irene wanted to see how he would pull that stunt.

The hosts of the program were a man and a woman. Edric was dressed leisurely and looked more approachable than usual. The two hosts rose from their seats and shook hands with Edric. The hostess claimed exaggeratedly, "You're so handsome! I can't catch my breath!"

Kinsey rebuked scornfully, "Can a handsome face feed a person? F*ck, he's just a well-dressed beast!"

The host reached out to hold the hostess instantly and asked, "Are you kidding me? If you really can't catch your breath, why don't we ask Mr. Myers to give you CPR?"

He then joked again immediately, "Just kidding. Mr. Myers. Don't take my words seriously!"

They then made some small talks for a while before they started focusing on the main topic. The two hosts pretended to ask Edric a few ordinary questions before they talked about what happened in the past few days.

"Mr. Myers, as you're a public figure, there're a lot of people who pay attention to you. The recent viral news is all about your personal affairs. May I take the liberty to ask you a few questions? Some people say that Miss Irene is the mistress, but some say that she's your ex-wife. And now, some even say that Miss Lily is the mistress instead. As there were so many versions of stories, no one knows its authenticity. Mr. Myers, can you explain it and clear our confusion?" the host asked.

"The purpose I participate in the program today is indeed for this matter," Edric answered. "Neither Irene nor Lily is the mistress. The truth is unlike what the news has reported."

Edric began to tell the ins and outs. He admitted that Irene was his ex-wife and also the woman he loved the most in his life. He even detailed the relationship between him and Irene affectionately. When it came to the emotional part, the hostess began to wipe her tears.

Kinsey sneered. "What on earth is Edric Myers doing? Is he acting in a love drama? But what can he achieve by doing this?"

Irene remained silent. Edric was so different from his usual self. The details of the love story that Edric mentioned in the program were very unexpected and touching to Irene.

She always thought that she was the only one who remembered those details, but she never knew that Edric also remembered it.

After Edric finished talking about his love affairs with Irene, he began to talk about his family. Since his father passed away when he was just a young boy, Margaret raised him single-handedly. Edric apologized to Irene too, saying that he had failed her, for he had not done what he had promised her. "I knew that Edric is up to no good!" Kinsey hissed furiously. "He actually took great efforts to participate in the TV program to whitewash Lily. He's f*cking good to her! Yet he said that you're his true love? I think not. It seems like Lily is his true love!"

Irene took the remote control and turned off the TV. Kinsey was still indignant, but Irene was not in the mood to add any of her comments on this. Edric was really superb in reversing the truth. "Forget it. I should just hide from him since I can't afford to provoke him!" Irene thought.

Thomas remained silent all the while. At this time, he interjected, "In my opinion, this matter is not as simple as you think. Although Edric is whitewashing for Lily, it is equivalent to publicly declaring that he has no relationship whatsoever with Lily. What's exactly going on?"

"That's right. Edric said that the woman he loves is you and everything that happened between him and Lily is only to deal with Margaret. This is no good news for Lily, isn't it?" Kinsey had the realization too. "Does Edric really want to get back together with you?" She asked.

"How would I know?" Irene forced a smile. Men's words were like an old lady's teeth; just how many of them were real? Besides, even if Edric really wanted to get back together with Irene, would Margaret ever agree to it?
