Chapter 129 She Would Never Trust Him Again

"Whoa, that's amusing! The baby must be from the Storks!" Irene sneered.

"Is sexual intercourse the only way that a child can be conceived?" Edric retorted. "There are many ways to get pregnant."

"Do you mean artificial insemination?" Irene looked at Edric in surprise.

Edric nodded and said, "Yes, and it's not even my sperm!"

Irene's eyes widened. "How is this possible?"

"At that time, my mother forced me to divorce you. I had no choice. I wanted to give her a grandson for the sake of my family. I asked John to get sperm from a sperm bank."

"Impossible!" Irene did not believe it at all. "Are you lying? Edric, do you think that there's no way for me to investigate all this, and that's why you lied?"

Edric reached out and held her hand. "Irene, I don't ask for you to forgive me immediately. Please give me a chance. Let's start over!"

Actions were louder than words. After so many hardships, it was hard for Irene to trust Edric again. Her plan now was more important than hesitating to believe Edric's confession. Thinking of Eden, she controlled herself and let Edric hold her hand. Edric was apologizing to her, but Irene was not paying attention to him. Her mind was full of Eden's images. She hadn't called him for two days, and she wondered how he was doing.

Deborah helped Lily to bed and put the blanket on her. She sat by the bed and looked at Lily for a while before she quietly left. When she returned to her room, Deborah called Marie.

It was nearly midnight and Marie was surprised when she received the call. She lowered her voice and asked, "What happened again?"

"Didn't you watch the TV?" asked Deborah.

"No, Malcom is sick today. I don't have the time."

Deborah told Marie what Edric had said on TV before she asked, "What should we do now?"

Marie replied in a grumbling tone, "I told you not to do it at the beginning. Great, now you shoot yourself in the foot. I have no way to help you. You have to give up that unrealistic thought of yours now!" "Will I be this worried if I can choose to give up? Lily is so stubborn, and she says she'll commit suicide if she can't marry Edric. Please help me to think of a solution!"

Marie was silent for a while. "I'll go and replace Margaret to see what she's up to. Don't let Lily and Edric meet in the next few days. Wait for my news."

"From today on, you will go to the hospital to take care of your father. If Edric calls you and asks you to see him, don't go. We'll talk about it after some time," ordered Deborah. "I'll listen to you," Lily promised.

Lily went to the hospital with food. They had taken a long time to prepare it. Steven lay on the bed with his eyes closed. When he heard the sound, he opened his eyes. When he saw it was Lily, he seemed to be quite surprised. "Where is your mother?"

"Mom didn't manage to get a wink of sleep last night. I asked her to rest at home. I'll take care of you today," Lily answered. She sounded rather calm, but her red and swollen eyes had betrayed her. Steven looked at Lily for a while and sighed.
