Revenge Against My Ex-husband
Chapter 230 Britney Pleads Irene

Rowane was smart and she seemed kind. Unfortunately, her grandson, Nathan only had Irene in his heart. If not, Rowane would definitely be a top contender.

Britney had taken a liking to Rowane, so she told her to not be in such a hurry and that she would help her replace a job. After all, the White family ran a huge business. It was child's play to help her arrange for a job. However, Rowane said that the reason she wanted to get a job was so she would not have to burden Nathan anymore. She insisted on replaceing a job on her own, without the White family's help. Britney had no choice but to agree due to Rowane's insistence. Since Rowane was not familiar with her surroundings, Britney had two maids follow her around. Once Rowane was more settled in, then she could replace a job.

After receiving Marie's instructions, Dunn had been lurking around outside the White family's home. When he saw Rowane come out, he secretly tailed her and waited for a chance to strike.

However, the two maids that Britney had ordered to follow her were so responsible and stuck to her at all times so Dunn had no window of opportunity at all. He thought Rowane would eventually be alone, and when that happened, he would then take his chance.

Of course, Rowane had no idea that someone was out to get her. After a few days of searching, it seemed like the only job she could get was as a dishwasher in a restaurant.

However, she had no identification on her, and the restaurant refused to accept someone from an unknown background. Rowane felt anxious so she went to ask Britney to see if she could help solve the problem.

When she returned home that evening, Rowane told Britney about the issue. Britney told her to not worry, and she would think of a solution. While they were talking, the maid called for them to inform them dinner was ready.

Britney and Rowane headed to the dining hall together. As always, Nathan was nowhere to be seen. Ever since the incident, he rarely showed up at home.

Rowane felt desolate as she looked over to Nathan's empty seat. The food in her mouth had no taste at all. The kitchen served up a plate of barbecue pork ribs. When Britney saw that she was not eating much, she picked up a serving of ribs and put it in Rowane's plate and encouraged her to eat more.

Rowane thanked Britney and brought the ribs near her mouth. It used to be her favorite dish but now it no longer gave her the same feeling. The smell of it made her want to vomit for some reason. Rowane knew that it would be rude to do so, so she tried to suppress her disgust. However, she could not hold it back.

Rowane put down her fork, covered her mouth, and rushed into the bathroom. Her actions surprised Britney. She looked at Sophia beside her, who also showed a puzzled expression. At that moment, the sound of Rowane throwing up came from the bathroom. After a long while, Rowane walked out and apologized to Britney. Britney did not blame her, "Have you caught a cold? I'll get the doctor to come check on you."

"No, I don't feel sick. The smell of ribs just suddenly made me feel nauseous for some reason."

"Nauseous?" Britney and Sophia exchanged a glance. They were both experienced people. Rowane had said that she did not feel ill but yet she had suddenly thrown up. They thought about the fact that she had slept with Nathan. Could it be that she was pregnant?

As they contemplated this, Rowane, who was in the middle of drinking some water that was served by the maid, stood up abruptly. She ran over to the bathroom again. Seeing this, Britney and Sophia were sure that she was definitely pregnant.

Britney was in no mood to eat. She immediately ordered the driver to prepare the car and take them to the hospital. Rowane had no idea why so she refused to follow. She insisted that she was fine, and she was just having an upset stomach. However, Britney did not listen to her and forcefully took her to the hospital. After the doctor's examination, it was confirmed that Rowane was indeed pregnant. Rowane's pregnancy came as a pleasant surprise. Nathan was already in his thirties and Britney had been looking forward to having grandchildren for so long. Rowane's pregnancy was great news to her. Britney happily brought Rowane home. When she got home, she thanked the heavens for this blessing and asked the maids to take extra care of Rowane.

Looking at the sincere joy on Britney's face, Rowane felt conflicted. She could tell that Britney really prioritized the child in her stomach.

After all, Britney was not young anymore, so naturally she wanted grandchildren. She would be happy no matter who was pregnant with Nathan's child. Rowane felt like Britney's joy and care towards her only existed because she was pregnant and nothing else.

If it were another woman who was pregnant with Nathan's child, she would definitely be ecstatic too. Rowane wished that Britney would not just like the baby in her belly, but her, the baby's mother too.

Of course, what she hoped for even more than Britney liking her was if the child's father, Nathan could like her because of this matter. Thinking of that, Rowane silently scolded herself for being so shameless. She knew that Nathan had a fiancée, and that he only had one woman in his heart. How could she be so whimsical as to hope that he would treat her differently? That was wrong of her!

However, she could not control her feelings when it came to Nathan. Not only did he save her life, he had also always been very caring and considerate towards her over this period of time. She had fallen deeply in love with him.

How many women would dream of having such a handsome and capable boyfriend? Rowane's heart had totally been encapsulated by this man.

There was no doubt that she had feelings for Nathan. She was extremely willing to give birth to his children. However, Nathan did not love her and he had no feelings for her. She could not be this selfish and ruin his happiness in exchange for her own. Rowane felt conflicted, and she did not know what to do.

Meanwhile, Britney was happily chatting away with Sophia. Jodie's pregnancy was an accident, but it was a happy one. Britney excitedly told Sophia that she wanted to tell Nathan about Jodie's pregnancy. However, Sophia had some concerns, "Madam Britney, perhaps you should take it slow."

"Why?"

"The Young Master has always liked Miss Nelson. He only slept with Miss Jodie because he had been set up. Ever since that incident, he has been drowning in worry. If you tell him about Jodie's pregnancy, won't it make things worse for him?"

After being with the White family for so long, Sophia knew Nathan very well, "The Young Master is a responsible man, but he is also a fool when it comes to love. You've seen it yourself. Due to Irene, he has only remained engaged to her all these years. I doubt he will be happy if he hears about Jodie's pregnancy. There are only two ways this could end. One, he breaks up with Miss Nelson and marries Miss Jodie instead. Two, he wouldn't want Miss Jodie's child. Since the Young Master loves Miss Nelson so much, I think that he won't marry Miss Jodie and he'll most likely go with the second option. That wouldn't be good."

Britney sighed as Sophia was right. Nathan had waited for Irene for so many years, so how could he give up on her? If she told him Jodie was pregnant, he would definitely choose Irene over Jodie. However, what about the child in Jodie's belly? Britney could not bear to get rid of it.

Sophia could see that Britney was in distress, so she suggested, "How about this, why don't you tell Miss Nelson about the pregnancy first. Try to get her to accept the child. After she accepts it, you can persuade Miss Jodie to give birth to the child and hand it over to Irene. Lastly, you will tell the Young Master. That way, you can keep the child and still let the Young Master marry Miss Nelson."

"That's a good idea, but will Irene agree to it? And will Jodie agree to give up her child?" Britney felt like it was unlikely, "More importantly, Nathan will never agree to Jodie giving birth to the child who will get in the way of him and Irene."

"Miss Nelson is a mother too. I'm sure she understands how much you want a grandchild so I think she'll agree to your request. As for Jodie, I can tell she likes the Young Master. It shouldn't be too hard to persuade her to give birth to the child. Lastly, the Young Master listens to whatever Irene says. As long as you can get her to persuade him, he will definitely keep the child."

Britney thought for a while but she could not come up with anything else. So, she decided to give Sophia's suggestion a go. She gave Irene a call and explained that Nathan had been set up by Joanne. She asked Irene not to feel disgusted and to try and forgive Nathan.

Irene told her to not worry and said that it was not his fault so she would not hold it against him. Seeing how understanding she was, Britney decided to bring up Jodie's pregnancy, "Irene, I have one more thing to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Um...After that night, Jodie got pregnant."

Irene gasped out loud and went silent for a while. She was no fool, for now she knew why Britney had called her. She knew Britney loved grandchildren. Jodie was pregnant with Nathan's child so she must not be able to bear losing the child. She wanted to keep the child so she was calling Irene to see how she felt about it.

Irene did not know what to say. Holding the phone, she just kept silent. When Britney took note of her silence, she took the initiative to explain her intentions, "I want Jodie to give birth to the baby." Irene knew that she could not keep silent forever, so she asked, "Does Nathan also want that?"

"No, Nathan still doesn't know that Jodie is pregnant," Britney sighed, "I just only found out about the pregnancy as well. I haven't told him. Ever since that incident, he hardly comes home. I'm worried if I tell him, he'll insist on not having the baby. That's why I'm calling you, to see how you feel about it. You know that Nathan only listens to you. I was hoping that you could talk to him and persuade him to keep the child."

"Oh," Irene's mind went blank. Britney continued, "I know I'm going a little overboard with this request, but after all it is Nathan's child, and it's still a life. I wanted to discuss this issue with you. Jodie will give birth to the child, and I will help raise the child up. It won't have any effect on you or Nathan's life. What do you think?"

What else could Irene do after Britney had said so much? Her request was not unreasonable. Nathan had already reached quite some age yet he had no children of his own. As his mother, how could Britney not be anxious about never becoming a grandmother? Irene was not a heartless person. Nathan treated her so well, so if he could accept her children, why couldn't she do the same? After a moment of silence Irene replied, "I will try to persuade him. However, has Jodie agreed to give birth to the child?

"I haven't told her yet. This is just my idea for now. If you agree to this, then I will persuade her to give birth to the child. Of course, whether or not we can keep the child still depends on Jodie. If she doesn't agree to it, we can't force her."

"Okay. Let's keep the child. I have no objections. You can go persuade Jodie to give birth to her child, and I'll go persuade Nathan."

"Irene, thank you!" Britney was overjoyed at how considerate Irene was. She happily hung up on the call.
