"Um..." Angelo cut in, "Ricardo's just a minor player, isn't he from Duskhaven? How could he possibly know anything about what's going on in Devonport?"

"I have no idea," Sophie replied. "But right now, he's our only lead. Let's just hope he doesn't kick the bucket on us, or else... we'll be completely in the dark."

Hearing this, Angelo felt a pang of guilt. James had initially sent Ricardo to stay with the Pollard family, and then he had hidden himself overseas. If Sophie and the rest found out that Ricardo was abroad and could trace it back to him... Wouldn't that expose James?

But if they didn't hand over Ricardo, they'd lose their only lead!

Back to square one.

As Angelo tried to figure out how to quietly send Ricardo overseas without blowing his cover, he suddenly realized everyone was staring at him.

Looking up, Angelo saw everyone giving him strange looks.

"Mr. Angelo... the person... could he be with you?" Sophie asked, her tone sharp.

What?!

Angelo's eyes widened in shock. How did they guess that?! Were they mind readers?

Everyone stood with arms crossed, waiting for an explanation.

Thinking on his feet, Angelo stammered, "Well... I just thought, you know, he might come in handy! So, I hid him away. I never imagined he'd be so crucial today!"

Jenna chimed in, "If it's such good news, why didn't you just tell us right away? What were you spacing out for?"

"I was worried you all wouldn't take it well and would suspect me..." Angelo offered a sheepish smile.

Taking the fall was better than exposing James!

By now, everyone seemed to understand.

But then Sophie stood up, smiling at Angelo, "Mr. Angelo, come with me."

Sophie's smile sent a shiver down Angelo's spine. Why did that smile seem so... unsettling? Watching Sophie head upstairs, Angelo swallowed hard and followed her, his movements stiff. Odie glanced at Angelo. That guy was definitely acting weird.

Meanwhile, Sandy seemed the most anxious. Why does Sophie want my brother to go upstairs? Could it be... she's trying to get close to him while Colby's not here?"

For a moment, everyone's attention turned to Sandy.

Jenna looked incredulous. "Ms. Sandy, how can you even think of something so ridiculous?"

"It's true! My brother likes Sophie! I thought he had gotten over it, but now Sophie's making a move!" Sandy fumed. "There's no way I'm letting Sophie become my sister-in-law! No way!"

"..." Jenna rolled her eyes dramatically, gave Adler a nudge, and the two headed upstairs.

"Hey! Don't you believe me? It's true!" Sandy shouted after them, but then Odie stood up, looking down at Sandy with a disdainful look. "I used to think you just weren't very bright, but now it seems, you're not very observant either."

"You!"
