Reece chuckled. He gently took hold of Sophie's hand as she patted his shoulder, and said, "Ms. Sophie, as your loyal partner, I absolutely won't stand by and watch you get bullied." "What are you going to do?" Sophie watched Reece warily.

Reece winked and put a finger to his lips. "It's a secret."

Sophie was utterly confused.

The next day, the news of Reece finishing his shoot and leaving Palm's Jewels had spread everywhere.

Sophie returned to her desk, only to replace her documents in complete disarray and her computer screen covered with sticky notes.

"Sophie, you've been hanging around Reece these past few days, neglecting your internship duties. Ms. Nichole left these for you. They must be completed by today, or you can say goodbye to your internship evaluation."

A female coworker dumped a stack of documents on Sophie's desk.

Glancing at the pile of papers almost as tall as her computer, Sophie turned to see Nichole smirking triumphantly in the office.

Sophie had expected something like this, but she never imagined Nichole's plan could be so simple.

Sophie approached her desk, counted the documents, and said, "If I recall, weren't these reports assigned to you by Alexis yesterday?"

The female coworker wasn't intimidated by Sophie. "So what? I'm a full-time employee, and delegating this task to you is a sign of trust!"

Sophie sneered. "So I need to verify these reports and produce ten corresponding action plans in one day?"

The coworker faltered but retorted, "Sophie, this is a learning opportunity! Don't be ungrateful! Palm's Jewels is a publicly traded company with a solid reputation. You got into the Eastwood College research program through backdoors, and landing an internship here is your good fortune!"

Sophie couldn't help but laugh at these absurd justifications. In this day and age, it was disgraceful for anyone to utter such nonsense.

"Who told you I got into Eastwood College through the backdoor?"

"Of course, it's..." The coworker almost blurted out the answer but stopped herself. "Sophie, facts are facts. The whole company knows you got in through connections. How else could you have landed an internship here?"

"Am I the only intern at Palm's Jewels? Are you suggesting that everyone here got in through the backdoor?"

"I..."

The coworker was at a loss for words. Nichole stepped out of her office and said, "Sophie, are you implying you can't handle the tasks I've assigned?" Nichole dropped her pretense, standing before Sophie like a conqueror.

"Sophie says she can't complete the tasks."

Nichole continued, "I can finish these tasks, and so can others. Why can't you? Or is it that you're just here to coast through your internship? If that's your attitude, I might need to have a serious talk with Mr. Donny about whether you're suited to complete this internship."

The atmosphere in the work area grew tense.

Sophie's lips curled into a slight smile. She truly didn't understand where Nichole's sense of superiority came from.

"Sure, but before you talk to Mr. Donny, you might want to make some room for me."

Nichole frowned at Sophie's words. "What do you mean by that?"

"Exactly what I said."

As soon as Sophie finished speaking, two rows of bodyguards dressed in black entered the company, with Tricia leading them straight to Sophie, respectfully saying, "Ms. Sophie, this is the contract for Reece and Palm's Jewels jewelry for this period."
