Revenge On Her Ex After Rebirth
Chapter 505 Meet Him Again

Chapter 505 Meet Him Again

Manuel was sitting on the couch and waiting for her.

As she got dressed, Manuel stood up and said, "Come on, let me walk you out."

Susan was a bit surprised.

As far as she knew about him recently, he should have sat by and done nothing however late it was.

But Manuel didn't seem to care about her surprised look. He changed his shoes and opened the door.

Susan hurried to put on her shoes and followed over.

As they walked out of the door, Manuel turned around to shut the door. And then he started working on the electronic door lock. Susan noticed that he had changed the password and deleted her fingerprint access.

Of course, if she were Manuel, she would do the same.

Whatever there was no room for her to explain. From now on, every possibility that she got into the wrong door again had gone.

Then, Manuel walked over to the elevator.

Susan continued to follow.

The air fell into silence inside the elevator.

They seemed to be strangers to each other.

As they reached the ground floor, Manuel led her out of the building.

The cold wind at night chilled her a lot even though she was wearing a coat.

She could barely keep herself warm because she was wearing a thin slip dress under the coat with no pants nor long stockings to cover her legs.

Stepping on the high heels, she felt like being frozen under the cold wind.

However, Manuel, who kept walking forward in her front and showed no intention to stop, didn't seem to notice that.

He kept going, walking quite steadily.

Watching his back, Susan fell into silence.

His legs should be alright, she supposed.

Then she strode over to follow.

As they reached the gate, she saw a black limousine parking there.

She recognized it was the chauffeur sent by her dad at the very first sight.

It must be Manuel who had told her dad about it. So he simply walked her to the gate.

A bit of upset came across in her mind, which she couldn't figure out a reason to account for.

She walked over to the limousine while Manuel was standing still and watching.

After she got into the car, she looked back, only to replace that Manuel had walked away.

He didn't wear enough clothes but something thin. His hair got dishevelled as the night wind blew.

She watched him getting further and further away from her, both physically and mentally.

She somehow burst into tears.

...

Susan caught a bad cold the next day.

When she woke up, she was struck by serious dizziness.

She thought she had been tough enough to withstand any kind of virus.

Never had she expected that a few minutes of exposure under the night wind would knock her down.

Did the miscarriage weaken her a great deal?

She should have listened to Hannah's advice.

Then she made a call to her dad to ask for leave.

Though her dad had agreed, he still doubted it. Speechless, she couldn't help wondering if she got much less credible in her dad's eyes.

She lay in bed, feeling ill all over. Coldness, dizziness and heat all mixed up within her body.

She couldn't remember what the time was she caught a cold the last time.

Being alone at home, she felt bored.

At 10 AM, Henry called her.

Hesitating, she wondered if she should pick it up.

Though he got her mad last night, she still grew some guilt because of what had happened in Manuel's apartment then.

Finally, she picked it up, "Henry?"

"I heard you got sick. How? Did you catch a cold last night?" Henry's caring voice grew her guilt stronger.

She had no idea why Henry refused to have sex with her, while she could feel his love for her at the same time.

Perhaps he had his reasons, she supposed.

Susan sighed, "Perhaps it was because I didn't wear enough to keep warm."

"Sorry... It's all my fault..."

"It's okay. I will be alright in a few days."

"Have you turned to a doctor?"

"No, I don't want to."

"You need a doctor's advice when you get sick. Let me take you to the hospital."

"No." Susan refused.

Now she didn't want to meet him in case of embarrassment.

"Susan, don't be childish! Come on, I will come to you right away."

"Alright, I can go by myself. Just continue with your work. I will have a chauffeur drive me there. You gotta take care of your job." Susan hurried to reply.

But Henry fell into weird silence.

"Don't be mistaken. I don't want to interrupt your job."

Then she hung up the phone.

She felt like ending the talk as soon as possible. Of course, it wasn't out of a tantrum.

Then she made a call to the chauffeur to drive her to the hospital.

She struggled up from the bed and started washing herself up in the bathroom.

While washing her face, she suddenly noticed in the mirror that her neck was covered with bruises.

Stunned, she didn't realize what they were until a few minutes later.

Before that, she kept wondering if it was just a wet dream between her and Manuel last night. After all, she wouldn't believe that Manuel would respond to her move at that time.

But now those hickeys were telling the truth.

Mixed feelings surged up in her mind.

Whatever, she could just pretend that nothing had happened last night. Perhaps it was the same for Manuel, she reckoned.

After that, she got dressed in enough clothes and went downstairs.

Then she headed for the hospital where she got a VIP membership.

Then it turned out that her temperature had mounted to 104°F.

"I am afraid your brain is gonna burn out if you pay your visit a bit later." The doctor joked.

Never did she expect to have such a high fever.

She had never experienced such fever ever since she was born.

How come it turned into such a serious sickness after a few minutes she exposed herself to the night wind?

"You gotta take some pills and then have an infusion. You will have an exclusive room to rest. Taking a nap until 2 PM on the bed may make you feel better.." the doctor then presented her with a bill. "Okay," Susan answered obediently.

Though she dislike staying in the hospital, she was still aware of the importance of health.

A nurse led her into a VIP room.

However, before she entered, she suddenly stopped.

She seemed to see Manuel when she walked past another VIP room just now, in which he was sleeping in bed, with a laptop next to him.

Was he still working while getting sick?
