Rise of the Queen
Chapter 28

As they were walking through the corridor, Kevin called out from behind, "Wait, Reagan! Where do you think you're going?"

They all stopped and turned behind except for Reagan, "Not now, Kevin," He shook his head as he continued to walk.

"She needs to know, Reagan!" Reagan stopped in his tracks as Kevin raised his voice, Reagan closed his eyes and took a deep breath, he then turned to face him with a dark glare directed at him but Kevin refused to back down. "Let's not talk about this here," Reagan growled in response.

"No, we need to talk about it, and more importantly, we need to have this talk with her," Kevin's glare intensified.

"Not now Kevin!" Reagan's voice sent chills down their spine, they all gulped as the air turned tense.

"Wait a minute, what's going on?" Lia was the one to ask, "What does who need to know?" She narrowed her eyes at her mate, then at her brother, "Care to explain what's going on? Why was Alex covered in blood? What's going on between you guys?"

"It's none of your business," Reagan gave a cold look to his sister he then shifted his gaze at Kevin, "You come with me," He gritted his teeth as he turned his back and began to walk away.

"None of my business?" Lia gaped at her brother's words, she rolled her eyes, "this guy!" She was about to follow him when Tyler pulled her back, "Didn't you hear him?" He whispered to her, "With that tone, if he asked you to stay out of it, then stay out of it!" He warned her.

Kevin let out an exasperated sigh as he began to walk out, just then Lia held his arm, "What's going on?" She asked.

"As your brother said, it's none of your business," He answered her in a cold voice before shrugging her hands off him, he then went after Reagan.

Lia waited until they were out of sight, she then went after them.

"Lia!" Tyler tried to follow her but he a pair of hands pulled him back, "What?" He looked at Conner.

"We need to talk," She told him.

"Not now, Con," He tried to get away but she pulled him back.

"You're not getting away," She pulled him inside the room.

He rolled his eyes as he heaved a sigh, knowing that she wouldn't let him off before they had their 'talk' he quietly obliged, taking a seat, he asked, "So what's this talk?" "Who is she?" Conner narrowed her eyes at him.

"Who she?" Tyler raised his brows in confusion.

"Your mate," She replied.

"What?" Tyler's eyes widened in horror, the color drained from his face but he masked his expression quickly, "I don't have one."

"You said you had one last time," Conner eyed him accusingly.

"I only said everyone has one not that I have one," He retorted.

"But-"

"Even if I had one, I haven't found her yet, happy?" He shrugged.

"You haven't?" She raised her brows at him.

"Nope," he shook his head, "why are you asking me about this anyway?" He frowned.

"Cause you're my best friend and I need to be the first one to know if you ever get yourself a girlfriend, okay?"

"Okay, fine,” He nodded, "Now can I go?" He asked.

"Why? Can't you just stay with me?" She asked.

His eyes widened in surprise.

"Sarcasm," She immediately replied, "You can go now, hmm?" She showed him the door.

He frowned at her behavior, "You're acting weird," He peered into her face.

She took her steps back shaking her head, "You had to go somewhere?" She reminded him.

"Hmm," he nodded as he made his way to the door, just before he left he turned to her, "I can stay with you if you want," He told her scratching his head, "just know that I'm here if you ever need me, hmm?" She blinked at his words.

"Okay then, I gotta go," He smiled at her and left the room.

She released her breath she didn't realize she was holding.

"EEE..." She squealed, "what's wrong with me?" She shook her head, "that was definitely weird," She slapped her cheeks, "but why do I feel so relieved?" She tilted her head as she reminisced his words, *"I don't have one"* She smiled like an idiot,* *"Even if I had one, I haven't found her yet"* The smile vanished from her face, "Argh!" She stamped her feet in frustration, "Oh come on, Con! He's Ty!" She scolded herself as she brushed off her unknown feelings.

"What do you think you're doing, Mr. Alpha king?" Kevin asked in a sarcastic manner as he closed the door behind him. "Didn't you call me to explain her condition to her? Explain her identity?"

"You saw her, Kevin!" Reagan shouted in anger, "You saw her trembling, her voice shook, she was..." he trailed off as he closed his eyes remembering it all again.

"I saw her that's why I'm telling you she needs to know, she's getting paler, she needs to feed on and for that, she needs to know!" Kevin yelled at him. "You can't hide it forever or is it you trying to deny her identity?" "I'm not!" Reagan's anger burst as he shoved Kevin against the wall, his hands secured on his neck as he glared at him in fury.

Kevin didn't shift his gaze, he glared right back into his eyes, Reagan heaved a defeated sigh as he let him go, "I'm just saying we should wait."

"Wait? Do you think we have that luxury? They are here, Reagan! We need her to awaken her powers and for that, she needs to know her identity, you need to tell her she's not human nor a werewolf nor a witch, she needs to know she is a Vampire, a Vampire Queen, our destined queen."

"let us give her some time," Reagan tried to reason.

"That's what I'm telling you, we don't have time! They're closing in, our barrier has been disrupted, we don't have the luxury to wait! Are you only thinking as her lover now? You're being irrational! Don't forget you're the Alpha King, you have your kind to protect, your pack to protect! And do you actually think you're doing her any good by hiding her identity from herself? If she were supposed to learn it on her own or even worse learn it from someone else, you think she'll be able to keep herself sane?"

"I-"

"We need to tell her, sooner the better!"

Just then Lia barged into the room, Tyler followed her inside, "Alex is what?" Lia questioned.

"Didn't I tell you to stay out of it?" Reagan glared at his sister then at Tyler who averted his gaze in response.

"Call me when you're ready to tell her, sooner the better," Kevin gave him one last look and was about to exit when Lia pulled him back, "Alex is what Kevin?" She demanded an answer.

"You clearly heard us," Kevin replied removing her hand from his arm.

"But-" She opened her mouth to speak but Kevin interrupted her, "Why? Can't digest the fact your best friend is a Vampire? Will you cut her out too? as you did to me?" He asked with a sarcastic smile.

"What?" She glared at him, "Whatever," he rolled his eyes then walked out of the room.

"How can he say that?" Lia was astonished by his words, "Of course, it doesn't matter what Alex is! She is my best friend and I love her regardless of her identity. How can he say that? That jerk!"

"Enough!" Reagan shouted at her, "And why can't he? I don't see any wrong there," Reagan spoke in his defense.

"You too?" She gaped at his words.

"I don't blame him, if your feelings for Alex didn't change because of her identity why did it change for Kevin then? You befriended him first, you were the one who used to protect him from bullying when you were kids, but when you got to know his identity about him being a vampire and your mate, didn't you change?" He narrowed his eyes at her.

She felt a pang of guilt in her heart, she was speechless.

"I didn't want to interfere in your matter, I thought you'll come to accept him, with time he'd win you over but you've hurt him countless times, I don't think you of all people have the right to say anything about him," Reagan's blunt words pierced her heart like knives.

"Anyway, you guys better keep your mouth shut, until we tell Alex, none of you are to speak a word about it to anyone, is that clear?" He narrowed his eyes at them, "Yes, boss!" Tyler gestured a salute as Lia just nodded her head.
