Rise of the Queen
Chapter 72

**Mommy,' A little kid with golden eyes crawled towards her, her heart swelled up with emotions as he placed his little hands on hers, 'My baby,' she picked him up in her arms and kissed his head, she was then engulfed by warmness as a pair of arms wrapped around them, looking up she saw her mate's face as he smiled down at her. He placed a soft kiss on his child's forehead, shifting his gaze back at her; he placed a kiss on her lips.*

Slowly she opened her eyes, "Morning," Reagan greeted her with a smile and pecked her lips, tears pooled in her eyes, "What's wrong?" His brows drew together making a thin line, she shook her head as she sat up on the bed, facing him she held his hand and drew them close placing it on her belly, "It's a boy," She whispered, he blinked at her, "he has your eyes," She cupped his cheeks as a drop of tear fell from her eyes.

"Why are you crying?" He gently wiped her tears, "Cause I'm so happy," She smiled through her tears, but she didn't see the expected expression on his face, "You're not happy with the news?" She asked him. "it's just too soon, are you really okay with this?" He asked her.

"Of course, I am, I mean I do agree that it's too soon for us but I am okay, I am happy," She smiled at him.

"I am happy too," his face instantly broke into a smile as he hugged her.

"Good morning, mom," Alexa greeted her mother with a wide smile as she took a seat beside her, "Good morning, dad," She smiled at her father who was seated beside her mother. "Good morning, darling," Her father smiled brightly. They were still a bit awkward as they had only just met, her father cried his eyes out as he hugged her asking her to forgive him that he was not there in her life, she didn't have any complaints, it wasn't his fault and those who were at fault were already dead. She assured her dad that he could be with her from now and they would surely try to catch up on all the lost years.

The sweet smell of pancakes teased her nose, she rubbed hands together as Reagan fixed her plate, "Wait," Conner stopped him, she then scooped the butter and placed it over the top, and also this," She poured the sweet caramel on the top, "Now you can," She waved.

"Thank you," Reagan smiled at her, he then turned to Alexa and he placed the plate in front of her, "Here, your highness," he winked at her.

"Thank you, your highness," She laughed as she picked up her fork, just as she was about to take a bite, she felt nauseous. "You're okay?" Reagan rubbed her back as he looked at her with concern.

"I-" Before she could answer him she felt the bile rise up, she immediately ran to the washroom, Reagan went after her. Throwing up, she slumped down on the floor, before her back could hit the ground, Reagan held her from behind, "Alex?" He looked at her with a worried expression, "I'm fine," She smiled at him weakly as she hid her face in his arm. He picked her in his arms and rushed to their room, he called the pack doctor to check on her.

After leaving Alexa with her parents, he left with the pack doctor, "What's wrong with her?" He asked him after reaching a distance, "It's not just morning sickness, something's wrong?" He raised his brows at him.

"It is morning sickness but she has it worst, the child she's carrying is a lot more powerful," the doctor broke it to him.

"Will it cause her any harm?"

"I'm not sure, we never had this kind of case before, so we can only make guesses," The physician shrugged.

Reagan heaved a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "it will be hard," He heard a voice from behind, turning back he met the eyes of the elder, "Adira" he muttered.

The doctor greeted her with a brief bow, gauzing the tension, he tried to excuse himself but Adira asked him to stay back, "We need you to hear this too," She told him, "She'll have it hard, Reagan, it won't be easy," Adira told him.

"You're okay?" Reagan planted a kiss on her forehead, "Hmm," She snuggled closer.

"Alex..." He held his breath as he closed his eyes.

"It may be life-threatening too, we know she's immortal but we don't know how her child will affect her health, as for now all we can do is hope,"

"What's wrong?" She asked him.

"This baby..." he trailed off as he gazed into her eyes, "We-"

"I want to," She raised her voice as she cut him off.

"You..." His eyes widened in surprise, "You knew?"

"Adira told me..." She lowered her eyes.

"And you didn't think you should tell me?" He shouted at her.

"I'm sorry but I want to have him, Reagan, please," She held his hand, "please, let us have him," She begged.

He slowly pulled his hand away, "I don't know anymore," He shook his head and turned his back to her before walking away.

Reaching outside, he fisted against the wall, his anger reverberated throughout his body.

"Someone's mad," Kevin commented from behind, "You're okay?" Tyler asked him peering into his face.

"I don't want to talk about it," He heaved a deep sigh, "Anyway, did you replace anything on him?" He asked.

"He's disappeared completely, not a trace of him, maybe he just died in that fire," Tyler shrugged, "The queen's gone anyway so there's nothing to worry about anymore right?" He looked at him hopefully.

"The fire wasn't big enough to wipe him out completely, as long as he's lurking around somewhere alive, I can't be at peace," Reagan's gaze hardened. He didn't want any danger around her, 'danger' his mind snapped back at the thing that had pissed him off, "Why didn't she tell me?" He burst all of a sudden.

"Because she knew you'd react like this," Kevin shrugged as Reagan told them everything.

"Not telling makes it worse, if I heard from her maybe I wouldn't have reacted like this," His shoulder slumped down.

"Did you make her realize that you want this child as much as she wants it?" Tyler asked him.

"Why wouldn't I want him?" Reagan shouted, "I mean it's a little too soon but that's my blood, I won't be not-happy," He sighed, "When she told me about her dream," A smile crept upon his face, "I was beyond happy," His smile widened at the thought. "I even told her I was when she asked me if I wasn't?"

"That clearly tells, you didn't express it properly," Kevin shook his head, clicking his tongue.

"But I clarified with my own mouth," He retorted, "Anyway, I thought I told you guys I didn't want to talk about this," he glared at them and walked away.

"Seriously?" They looked on as they sighed heavily.

"Why is everyone blaming me? She hid things from me and now I'm in the wrong?" He kicked the ground in frustration, a head peeked in from the bushes, Reagan blinked at the familiar face, he greeted him with a smile, "Sorry, I didn't realize you were there," He apologized to the previous Vampire King.

"Would you like to join me?" He offered.

He was his father in law, he couldn't just brush him off, he heaved a sigh before he joined him reluctantly, "So, what's bothering you?" The ex-king asked him. "Nothing really," He tried to avoid but his gaze was persistent. He wasn't 'The Vampire King' for no reason, "Can I ask you something?" He looked at him. "Sure," Adrian nodded.

"How did you feel when you got to know about Alex for the first time?" Reagan asked him, "Wasn't it hard? Did you feel conflicted knowing that she'd be born with a tremendous amount of power? Wasn't it hard for your mate? Were you okay with it?" he stopped when he felt his eyes on him, he nervously clasped and unclasped his hands.

"When she, Ella told me about her pregnancy, I was on clouds nine, I was so happy, all those times we had to hide and meet each other, nobody accepted our relationship but still the news didn't make me think twice about everything, it just made me happy," He smiled, "But when things started to turn around and get ugly, I also hesitated for a moment, of course, Ella's safety came to my mind first but I guess I had already started to think as a father because the next moment I was determined, to save them both, I wanted them both." He replied.

"Even I want them both," Reagan muttered, "I am scared but I don't want to let go of any of them," He confessed.

"If you've already decided then what's the problem?"

"I'm just mad at her that she hid things from me again, she always does that, after waiting and waiting, she slowly opened up to me but now she's at it again, hiding things from me, does she not trust me? Why didn't she rely on me? Why did I have to replace through outsiders? I mean it's our baby, shouldn't we discuss it with ourselves? She knows I won't say no to her, I would've agreed with anything she wanted, we've come through so much, we can go through this too, if she has dreamt of a happy family, I'd surely give her that," He pouted sulkily.

"Hmm, well...that's something only she can help you with, why did she hide it? If it was because she didn't trust you or there was some other reason behind it, why didn't she rely on you? or if she did rely on you, why did she hide it... you know, why don't you tell her these things what you've just told me," his father in law suggested, "Don't avoid her, pregnancy makes you go through things, she's emotional, she would want you with her, don't make her suffer," there was a threat in his voice but his smile didn't show a bit of bitterness.

He is something else, Reagan blinked at the man, "Of course," Reagan nodded, he turned to go but stopped, he then faced him, "I am going to make her happy," He bowed to him deeply "and... "thank you for listening," He then excused himself and walked away.

Later in the evening, he heaved a deep sigh as he stood outside his room, "okay,” He nodded and entered the room.

"I'll have this child, regardless of what you say," She glared at him. Her eyes were swollen, she was crying, pain constricted his heart, "Just leave me alone like how you did this morning," She bit her lips trying to control her tears. "I want to apologize for that-"

"I don't need your apology" She threw a pillow at him, he moved his body sideways dodging it, "Can't you just get hit?" She asked as she threw another one at him, this time he caught it with his hand.

"Just go," She turned her head away, "I don't want to," He whispered dangerously close. "Even if you don't want this baby, I want it and I'm having him," She made herself loud and clear, "I never said I didn't want," He retorted. "Liar, you walked away angrily," She looked at him with accusing eyes.

"I was mad that you hid things from me," he told her.

"Liar, you weren't happy to know about the baby,"

"Okay I agree that I wasn't thrilled at first because I thought it was too soon, but Alex, I never said we'd not have a baby, I want to, I also want to raise a child, my own child," He clarified.

"But this morning you came to tell me to not have this child, didn't you?"

"I didn't," He told her, she narrowed her eyes at him, he closed the distance between them and sat beside her, "When I heard it that the childbirth may threaten your life, I was obviously shaken but wanting to have a child or not is our decision, not just mine," He took her hand on his and intertwined their fingers, "so I only came here to tell you what I got to know about, I was scared to break this news to you, I was scared how would you take it because you were so happy this morning... that's why I was hesitant, giving up on this baby did cross my mind but I wanted the decision to be made by us, the decision that we'll both agree to," He clarified, "But I was kind of hurt that you didn't tell me anything, so I walked away," He added.

"Sorry about that," She spoke, "I never meant to hurt you, I just-" She was silenced by his finger on her lips.

"But I realized it was my fault, after all, I'm sorry for making you feel insecure, sorry for being an idiot, I should've expressed myself properly," He rested his forehead against her, "So let me make it clear now," He whispered and he knelt before her, he then placed his hand on her lower abdomen, "Hey lil' one, dad wants you to come to him, he loves you and your mother so make sure to come to me safely," He lowered his head and placed a kiss on her belly.

Tears filled her eyes, he lifted his face to look at her, he raised his hand and caressed her cheek, "Sorry for making you cry," He apologized wiping her tears; she quickly threw her arms around him.

Breaking the hug, he planted a kiss on her forehead, "I want you both safe," He muttered as he kissed her lips.

"I promise, we'll be fine," She muttered smiling against his lips.
