Salute To The General
Chapter 1591

Chapter 1591

A small aircraft was on its way to Brimmopolis.

Aboard the plane, Phoebe was listening to her subordinate's report with a drink in hand.

“Ms. Davier, I've just received the latest word from Channing City. Santiago is dead.”

Phoebe's eyes widened in surprise. “Was it Nathan's handiwork?”

“Yes,” said Durand with a nod.

Phoebe was shocked and angry at the revelation. “How bold of Nathan. Although the Liebermanfamily is no longer in its heyday, it's still a prominent family.”

“There's more. It's said that the current heir to the Lieberman family, Wilfred himself, might have anearly release.” “We can only assume that Wilfred is determined to go back to being at the top of hisgame after he's released from prison. Even so, Nathan actually dared to kill Santiago?”

Durand smiled bitterly. “Look, Nathan killed Mr. Tucker's son. Why would he stop at killing Wilfred'sson too?”

“From this, I can also tell that Nathan is really pissed.”

“Fortunately, Mr. Davier caught wind of this early and made you leave Channing on time.

Otherwise, I don't think Nathan would let you off if he got his hands on you, Ms. Davier.”

Phoebe's face inevitably turned pale with fear.

All she could do was nod in response. “I think

Nathan's a madman.”

“What a pity. We're already on our way back to Brimmopolis. If he thinks he can harm a single hairon my head in my own territory, it's nothing more than wishful thinking on his part.”

Durand nodded in agreement. “Luckily we moved fast enough.”

He didn't even finish saying that when the alarms started blaring on the aircraft.

Phoebe frowned. “What's going on?”

Durand was also confused by the commotion. “I don't know. Could it be turbulence? Usually, thatwould be grounds to issue a warning so that everyone returns to their seats.”

Just then, one of the crew members hurried out. There was anxiety written all over their face. “Ms.

Davier, we're in deep trouble.”

“What's the matter?”

The crew member gulped audibly, and in a shaky voice, said, “Two military fighter jets have lockedonto the aircraft, and they've made a request via radio. They're saying that the General has orderedus to turn back immediately.”

What?

Phoebe was stunned.

Durand and several other bodyguards were also shocked.

Nathan had actually dispatched two fighter jets to chase after them. The very thought sent chillsdown their spines.

It took Phoebe a while to return to her senses.

She was aware of how screwed she was as waves of panic coursed through her body. “We can't goback!” exclaimed Phoebe in a shrill scream. “We must never go back to Channing!”

“Nathan has already killed Santiago. If I go back, I'll suffer the same fate!”

Durand also came back to his senses eventually. “Yes, we should never turn back.”

“Tell the rest of the crew to not bother about the fighter jets. We're transporting Mr. Davier'sdaughter, so I doubt they'll mess around with us

“But Sir” interrupted the crew member in tears. “They've been ordered to shoot us down if we refuseto comply!”

This sent Phoebe and Durand into another shock.

“They...wouldn't dare” Phoebe was trembling as she said this and her voice had cracked.

“Ma'am, they were very firm about this! The very first rule in the military is to obey every order, withno questions asked!”

“I think if we refuse to turn back, there is no doubt they'll shoot us down!”

Phoebe was in a complete panic, being a woman and all. It was hard for her to control her emotionsunder such extreme duress.

“What are we going to do, Durand?” asked Phoebe anxiously. She had run out of ideas and options. If they did not think of something soon, they would be dead for sure.
