Salute To The General -
Chapter 1594
Chapter 1594
Half an hour later, another personal aircraft landed at the Alberesque army base.
Nathan stepped out in military regalia. He had also brought along Colin, Ava, and the Elite Eight, alongside fifty elite soldiers from the Dragonfury Special Forces regiment.
Vadim also came out with a large number of soldiers to greet Nathan.
“Welcome General Cross, to Alberesque.”
Behind Vadim, more than two thousand soldiers greeted Nathan in unison.
Vadim and a few dozen of his most capable soldiers greeted Nathan with a salute. He then reachedout a hand and said, “You've arrived, General.”
Nathan shook hands with Vadim, then looked around. He could replace no trace of Phoebe or theothers.
He calmly asked, “Where is Phoebe Davier?”
Vadim smiled. “They're all at my residence. Please, come with me, and we'll have a chat.”
The corner of Nathan's mouth rose in a smirk. “Very well.”
Soon, Nathan and his entourage made their way to Vadim's residence, further inside the base.
Everyone seemed to be on high alert today. Soldiers with guns and live ammunition were standingguard. With every five to ten paces, a sentry would patrol the area. It was as if they wereanticipating the arrival of a heavily armed enemy force.
When they neared the entrance of his residence, Vadim paused to address Nathan. “General, myhome isn't large enough to accommodate everyone. Why don't you let your men wait for you in the
mess hall?”
At his behest, Vadim's subordinates began asking Colin and the rest of Nathan's entourage tomove.
However, all of them remained motionless despite his request.
Vadim then realized that the entourage would only obey commands from Nathan himself.
Nathan smiled and said, “Colin and Ava will follow me to General Normandy's abode. The rest ofyou, wait here.”
The Elite Eight and the Dragonfury fighters gave Nathan a quick salute and responded with a
loud “Yes, Sir.”
Having sorted this out, the party made their way into Vadim's abode.
Several people were awaiting Nathan's arrival in the spacious and well-decorated living room.
One was a middle-aged man with a mustache. He later introduced himself to be Valois Davier, theyounger brother of Clifford Davier.
The other was Phoebe herself.
Around them stood Durand and a few other men.
The second son of the Davier family was a business tycoon.
He happened to be in the area for business when he received a call from his older brother.
He knew that something had befallen his niece and hurried over to protect her.
One glance at Phoebe made Nathan's gaze turn cold as ice. He had to resist the urge to have herarrested immediately.
“A moment, please, if you will.” Vadim interjected in a hurry to break the obvious tension thatcrackled in the air.
“This is the secondborn son of the Davier family, Valois. He took it up himself to make a trip to solvethe misunderstanding between you, Sir, and Ms. Davier.”
Valois took the opportunity to say hello to Nathan at this time. With a smile, he then said, “General, Iheard about the fire at Channing Orphanage.” “However, this was orchestrated by Santiago.
The man acted alone under nobody's orders. He did something very stupid to allegedly win myniece over.
“The Davier family feels nothing but grief and guilt over this incident, I assure you.”
“My niece is truly innocent. I'm beseeching you, Sir, to forgive her and spare the Davier family itsdignity.”
Vadim also decided to add his pleas here. “General, I do believe that this woman is innocent. I askthat you let me be the mediator for this incident and that you allow us to discuss this peacefully. Thethree of us, including Mr. Clifford Davier, would be grateful for the opportunity.”
Valois did not wait for Nathan to respond. In an attempt to lighten the mood, he said, “Come now,General. Why would you take something
like this to heart, and with a woman at that?”
“Phoebe, aren't you going to pour him a cup of tea and apologize? Make a peace offering, if youwill.”
Upon hearing this, Phoebe quickly picked up the teapot and poured some tea into the empty cup onthe table. She had every intention to apologize and plead to stay alive.
However, Nathan found this unacceptable. Coldly, he asked, “If an apology carried this muchweight, why would I even bother asking for capital punishment?”
All it took was one sentence, and Vadim's expression changed.
Valois's expression also changed drastically, whereas Phoebe became even paler than before.
