Salute To The General
Chapter 1607

Chapter 1607

As soon as the sun rose the next morning, Nathan left for Brimmopolis.

Coincidentally, Kylie had taken leave from work for the next few days. After replaceing out that he wasgoing to Brimmopolis, she insisted on going with him to have some fun there.

However, Nathan turned down her request immediately.

Thankfully, Penny spoke up on her behalf. Since Nathan's companions were going to be males, wouldn't it be good if Kylie could go along with them to take care of their day-to-day life?

Penny smiled at Nathan. “Since Kylie wants to go to Brimmopolis so much, please take her along,Nathan.”

“You're talented at many things, but household chores are not your forte. With Kylie around, that'sone less thing I'll have to worry about.”

Nathan felt a little helpless, but he agreed to Penny's request in the end. He turned to Kylie andsaid, “Alright, then. You can come along with me to Brimmopolis.”

“But I must this clear to you—I'm going to Brimmopolis for work, alright? I won't have time to frolicaround with you.”

Kylie merely threw her head back and laughed. “Okay! If I feel like sightseeing, I'll hire a tour guidemyself.”

That morning, Nathan, Kylie, Colin, and the Elite Eight set off to Brimmopolis on a plane.

By afternoon, the plane had touched down at their destination.

The Major-General of the Capital Garrison, Will Long, led a team of his soldiers to receive Nathan atthe airport in military vehicles.

“Welcome to Brimmopolis, General!”

“How do you do, Major-General Long?”

Will and Nathan shook hands firmly before they climbed into the jeep.

Both of their subordinates got into the military vehicles behind them.

After that, the cars set off steadily for the White House.

While they were on their way there, Nathan thanked Will for taking the time to pick him up at theairport and asked him if he knew anything about the President's illness.

Will replied, “The President is ill, but nobody else other than the First Lady and the doctors areallowed to see him. I heard things aren't looking great for him.”

Nathan frowned. “I didn't think it would be that serious."

In a quiet voice, Will said, “General, you are one of his disciples, aren't you? In the future, I'll becounting on you.”

Nathan could tell that this wasn't a mere expression of Will's appreciation of his status and talents. In fact, Will sounded as though he wanted to jump ship and become Nathan's subordinate instead.

However, Will was one of the most loyal subordinates of the President. Was he trying to replace a newline of life in case things went South?

This meant that the President was probably on the brink of death.

Nathan made a vague promise to Will, but he was still preoccupied with thoughts of his mentor'sworsening health.

Just then, Will turned to him again and said quietly, “By the way, General, I heard that Mr. Tuckerand Mr. Davier submitted a request to have you expelled from your position during an internalCabinet assembly. However, the senior members refused their suggestion point-blank.”

“Without the President around to control them, some people are bound to behave like wild animals. They think they can do whatever they want now,” Nathan commented darkly.

Will whispered, “So, General, you need to keep your guard up!”

“Besides, I heard that after their request to have you removed was rejected, Mr. Tucker and Mr.Davier submitted another request. This time, they made it past the senior members.”

Curious, Nathan asked, “What request was it?”

Will replied, “They wanted to shorten the prison sentence of Wilfred Lieberman and have himreleased ahead of time.”

Wilfred Lieberman?

He was the patriarch of the Lieberman family and the father of Santiago Lieberman.

He had once been a senior member of the Cabinet. Because he committed a grave crime, Hanselhad personally ordered him to be arrested, charged, and thrown into jail.

Were Boris and Clifford taking the opportunity to release Wilfred from jail ahead of time becauseHansel was sick?

Nathan knitted his brows in worry. “And the Cabinet agreed to their request?”

“Yes,” Will replied. “In fact, Wilfred will be released from jail today.”

“General, pardon me for being too forthright with my words.”

“You are a disciple of the President, and you were the one who killed Wilfred's son, Santiago.”

“I suspect that Mr. Tucker and Mr. Davier only asked for him to be released early so he could go upagainst you.”

“After Wilfred is released from prison, you'll be the first person he comes for.”

Nathan nodded. “Thanks for the heads-up,

General. I'll take note of that.”
