Salute To The General -
Chapter 1626
Chapter 1626
Thaddeus and his men turned paled as they watched the SWAT team come in.
Upon seeing the leader of the SWAT team, Milton's eyes lit up.
He scrambled to get up from the ground and ran toward him, his voice unnaturally bright. “Mr.Carter! Oh, Mr. Carter! It's so good to see you! You have no idea what I've gone through! I... “
As it turned out, the square-faced man was Timothy Carter, Brimmopolis' chief of police.
“Who are you? I don't know who you are. Stay back, and don't interrupt my work!” Timothy harshlycut Milton off.
Milton's face turned dark red in embarrassment.
He began to regret overblowing things when talking about himself previously. How embarrassing! Iliterally just told them that we're close!
Looking all flustered, he said, “Chief Carter, I met you a few days ago, we were drinking... "
Timothy gave him a dismissive look. He felt that it was outrageous for someone he had met once ortwice to act as if they were closer brothers.
He pushed Milton away dispassionately, his eyes darting all over the room as if searching forsomeone.
On the other hand, Thaddeus also made his advances toward Timothy. “Chief Carter! What bringsyou here? If it's just something small, you could have just given me a call. There's no need to bedispatch a whole team of... “
Before Thaddeus could even finish his sentence, Timothy shoved him to one side and walkedbriskly toward Nathan.
“Mr. Cross, excuse me for my tardiness,” he said politely, giving Nathan a bow. The others in theroom were absolutely stunned.
Oh my god!Why is Chief Carter so polite toward Nathan?
Both Milton and Thaddeus were at a loss for words.
Everyone turned to look at Nathan. They urgently wanted to replace out about Nathan's true identity.Just how high is his social status to make someone like Chief Carter bow to him?
Nathan still donned his calm, neutral expression and replied, “Tim, what should I even say?
Considering the short time you took to take the
SWAT team here, your efforts are admirable. However, based on the fact that there are foreignthugs on the loose coming after my head under your watch, I would have to say otherwise.”
Beads of sweat dotted Timothy's forehead as he listened. “I... I definitely did not do my best. I mustsay that there is still great room for improvement. I will reflect on this and make amends!” he saidanxiously.
Nathan smiled subtly and took another roll of cigarette.
Wanting to do something to redeem his image Timothy quickly whipped out his own pack ofcigarettes and said, “Mr. Cross, you can have mine..."
“I prefer my own,” Nathan replied quietly.
Timothy glanced at Nathan's cigarette pack and smiled patronizingly. “Of course, you would. Youalways smoke the Commander-exclusive Cigarettes. You wouldn't be used to the low-quality onesfrom other brands... “
Commander-exclusive Cigarettes!
The rest of the people in the room almost jumped at the mention of that.
Many began eyeballing Nathan's cigarette pack.
This time, they finally made out the exact words imprinted on it. Commander-exclusive Cigarettes.Bam!
Milton felt as if he had just gotten struck by a stroke of lightning. If Nathan smoked those cigaretteson a daily basis, he had to be a commander in the military.
It was no wonder that Nathan was not the slightest impressed by his expensive cigarettes.
It was also not surprising that Nathan did not seem intimidated by him at all.
Now it explains why Nathan did not even see me as an equal! He's a commander in the military!
Milton could not help but tremble as he thought back on his rude and arrogant behavior towardNathan just moments ago.
As for Thaddeus, though he was not entirely sure of what Commander-exclusive Cigarettes werebecause he was a foreigner, he could tell that Nathan was someone of high importance from theway that Timothy was acting.
With his face gradually turning pale, he was also beginning to regret his actions.
