Salute To The General -
Chapter 1726
Chapter 1726
Hailing from a prestigious family, Paisley was learned and humble and was a helpful aide to herhusband.
Nathan, on the other hand, was a general who commanded three hundred thousand soldiers in theNorth and was known as the God of War.
In other words, Nathan had a voice and influence no less than that of her husband who worked inthe cabinet.
She invited Nathan to her house because she wanted to thank him as well as create an opportunityfor her husband to befriend Nathan.
In short, she was a good wife who was always helping her husband and the family.
Nathan was a little hesitant upon Paisley's invitation. He said, “Thanks for the invitation, Mrs.Woods, but I came here for groceries because I'm going to cook at the hospital's kitchen for mywife, who's currently a patient there...”
Paisley immediately replied with a smile, “You're such a good husband, General! The kitchen in theinpatient department of the hospital is crowded and many patients’ family members take turns usingit, so it's inconvenient for cooking. Why don't you come to my house and cook in our kitcheninstead?”
Nathan knew that it would be inappropriate for him to turn her down again, so he agreed with asmile. “Alright then. I hope I won't cause you too much trouble.”
“Of course not! My husband will be over the moon when he sees you,” Paisley replied cheerfully.
Soon, Nathan followed Paisley and Maisy to their house with the groceries he bought.
Nathan had long heard that Garrett lived an extremely simple and ordinary life.
Seeing that Paisley and her daughter had gone grocery shopping today without bodyguards, hethought that the rumors were true—Garrett and his family led a humble lifestyle.
Despite working in Brimmopolis, Garrett was not from Brimmopolis, so they lived in theaccommodation reserved for the families of cabinet members.
Upon arrival, Nathan followed Paisley and Maisy into the living room.
Paisley headed to the study and called out in delight, “Griffin, come on out. Look who's here?”
Griffin was a nickname that Garrett picked for himself, and his wife usually called him by thisnickname.
“Who is it?"
Garrett's chipper voice was heard as he emerged from the study, looking suave in a grey jacket.
Seeing Nathan, he could not help but say in surprise, “Oh, it's the General. What a rare guest!”
“I'm sorry for showing up like this, Mr. Woods,” Nathan replied with a smile.
“No, it's our pleasure. I've long wanted to meet you but I haven't had a chance. Your visit today is apleasant surprise.” Garrett grinned.
Paisley took the opportunity to tell him how Nathan saved them when she and Maisy were in dangerat the supermarket.
Garrett immediately showered Nathan with thanks.
Then, he asked Paisley to prepare dinner while he wanted to have a drink with Nathan.
The two men sat down in the living room. Paisley made them tea before going to the kitchen tocook, and Maisy went back to her room to do her homework so as not to disturb the conversationbetween the adults.
The former Governor of the North then started a chat with the current General of the North.
During their conversation, they inevitably talked about the North and heaped praises and respect oneach other.
The two had many similar ideas. The more they spoke, the more they felt that they were likemindedand wished they had known each other earlier. If it weren't for their special identities, they wouldhave become sworn brothers.
Without a doubt, the duo would later go down in history as the greatest bulwarks of the nation.
