Salute To The General
Chapter 1869

Chapter 1869

Back at the Davier residence, Clifford and Yosef were having a simple meal together.

On the table were some boiled broccoli, mushroom soup, and some strip cheese.

Clifford was watching his diet, so he had been eating clean for some time. The two sat at the table and ate quietly.

Seeing that his dad had finished his soup, Yosef offered to get him some. "Dad, I'll get you more soup.

“I'm good. Just a few more broccolis will do," Clifford replied.

"Sure."

Yosef subserviently took his plate and got his father more vegetables as he thought about how he should bring the matter up.

“Dad, I met someone today," he said as he put the plate down in front of Clifford.

"Who is it?"

"Nathan..."

Clifford froze momentarily as he picked up his fork. Yet, he quickly collected himself and asked calmly, "I thought he's back in Channing. What brings him here?"

"I have no idea. I wanted to teach him a good lesson when I saw him, but Mr. Windsor came to his rescue. He's probably back because he's unhappy about his dismissal. I bet he knew our family would not go easy on him, so he came to ask Mr. Windsor to help him regain his position."

Regain his position?

A mocking smile broke out on Clifford's face.

"Hansel has already retired, so what can he do to help him? There's no way he can get his position back," Clifford scoffed.

Yosef rolled his eyes and nodded in agreement. "I know, right? After all he did to our family, there's no way he can return to power. Our family will be the first to object to it."

Although Clifford was not as verbal as his son, the abhorrence in his eyes glistered furiously like diamonds in the dark.

Nathan Cross, I will avenge my children someday. I will never forget how my daughter and my sons died because ofyoull could well be the President by now if it weren't for you!

Clifford seethed with hatred as he chomped forcefully on his broccoli, imagining them as Nathan's flesh.

“Dad, Nathan knew it would not be

long before our family gets rid of him. That's why he came all the way

He's desperate for a way out.

to Brimmopolis to visit out,

Although both of them are no longer in power, I think we still need to

seize the opportunity and act fast. We should just uproot him

completely now. After all, we never know what's gonna happen in the future."

Clifford finally relaxed his jaws as he thought about his son's proposal. "That's a good idea. But President

Woods has been pushing for the et

revival of the Chief Military

Governor's position. His appointee will be at the Cab tomorrow, So it's best to focus on this for now."

"What's all the enigma about? Who is this Chief Military Governor?" his son inquired.

"Everyone is dying to know who this person is gonna be. This person will be the deciding factor of the power politics in the Cab, so I have to keep

a close eye on how things turn out. As for Nathan, we will deal with him after all this is settled," Clifford explained.

"I really want to know who the Chief Military Governor will be. But don't worry, Dad, I will deal with Nathan on my own," Yosef volunteered.

Clifford looked up at him and squinted his eyes suspiciously. "You want to deal with him on your own?"

Yosef was actually the son of Clifford's brother. After Clifford's children passed away, the family decided to let Yosef be his stepson in order for him to have an inheritor.

Clifford actually disapproved of Yosef, but for the sake of his name and his family, he had to give in and make do with the decision.

Ever since Yosef came over, he had been courteous and polite to Clifford in every way possible in order to curry his favor.

Despite him being a respectful son, it still caught Clifford off guard when Yosef proposed to take on Nathan singlehandedly.

Although Nathan was no longer the commander-in-chief of the North Army, Clifford was still worried that Yosef might not be able to face Nathan on his own. After all, Nathan was way out of his league.

Yosef was agitated when he sensed Clifford's distrust. "Dad, I know I'm not someone with exceptional capabilities, but I'm not that lousy Besides, Brimmopolis is our old haunt and Nathan is now without any power and backing. It will be as easy as pie for me to get rid of him!

Just watch me, Dad. I will avenge my siblings!"

Clifford thought what Yosef said made sense.

It was true that Nathan had nothing on the bargaining table now, so he finally relented.

"Alright, then. You can deal with him however you like. The Demon Troopers will be under your command. Let Apocalypse know if you need anything," Clifford agreed at last.
