Salute To The General -
Chapter 1887
Chapter 1887
At the back of his troop, Apocalypse was standing there with his arms crossed. He had envisioned the assassination of Nathan to go just as smoothly as it did with Corey Lucas.
Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined things to turn out difficult.
The nerve-wracking stand-off he was in had also taken a toll on him mentally.
He had brought every single fighter of the Demon Troopers, all two hundred of them. While there were strict regulations on the use of guns in Brimmopolis, regulations which the Demon Troopers did not dare breach thoughtlessly even with Clifford Davier backing them, Apocalypse knew that they had to get more powerful weapons.
The Demon Troopers usually trained with swords and daggers, but this time, their two snipers were equipped with two sniper rifles. Fifty fighters were given sub-machine guns while the rest fought with swords.
Apocalypse had thought that a weapon upgrade would help them defeat Nathan easily, but in retrospect, he realized that he had terribly underestimated Nathan's strength.
With the stress really getting to his head, he urged his troop to fight with their lives. "Our enemies are outnumbered. They have fewer bullets than we do too. Don't hesitate and charge on! You'll get two million for each enemy you kill. And the person who kills Nathan Cross shall get a billion! These are Mr. Davier's very words! If you want the money, show me what you've got!"
A billion for Nathan's head? Two million for any one of his subordinates?
Apocalypse's words worked like anabolic steroids - the eyes of the soldiers of the Demon Troopers lit up, and their morales were at an all-time peak. Those armed with sub-machine guns even came out of hiding, screaming their war-cry and charging forward.
Of course, the one at the front was instantly shot down by Colin and the Elite Eight.
However, the Demon Troopers, who only had the huge bounty in their heads, could not care less about their fellow fighters dying on the battlefields. They pressed on with their attacks, stepping over the flesh and bones of their dead comrades. It was an unsettling and violent sight to behold. Even Colin and the Elite Eight began to feel
overwhelmed with stress.
"Oh, no. I don't have many bullets left," Octo suddenly said.
Trinity added, "Me too!"
"I'm running out of bullets too... " Quarta said nervously.
The rest of the members of the Elite Eight also seemed to be facing the same problem.
Colin looked down at his sniper rifle. Only five bullets were remaining.
Frowning, he looked around for Nathan.
"General?"
However, Nathan was nowhere to be found.
Where did he go?
Colin was momentarily dazed, being unable to locate Nathan. He did not even have the brain cells to try to figure out where Nathan might have gone to.
Gritting his teeth, he told the Elite Eight, "Everyone, we must conserve the usage of our bullets. We need to do something to buy us time!"
"Got it!"
And so, as Colin and the Elite Eight approached the Demon Troopers, they only started firing bullets within tens of meters of their enemies. Apocalypse noticed that the frequency of their gunshots had lowered considerably.
Smirking wickedly, he said, "Though many of our brothers have died in their hands, our enemies are almost out of bullets. It's our time to seek revenge on them!"
Apocalypse seemed smug about the turn of events.
All of a sudden, squeals and gasps of his subordinates filled the air.
Apocalypse froze. He could almost smell the scent of danger lingering in the air.
He turned his head in the direction
that his subordinates were looking could
All that his eyes could
capture was a dark shadow flashing at the speed of light toward him.
It was Nathan. Nathan was coming straight at him.
The Demon Troopers, who were armed with submachine guns, were still busy tackling Colin and the Elite Eight at the front lines, leaving him with subordinates armed mostly with swords.
Apocalypse was absolutely terrified to see Nathan charging toward him like a wisp of dark smoke.
The two soldiers in front of him quickly whipped out their guns and shot an unceasing series of bullets at Nathan.
However, Nathan was moving way faster than one could react, and every single movement he took seemed unexpected and random. Before long, the two distressed soldiers ran out of bullets.
Just as they used up their last bullets, Nathan appeared before them and took them down.
Bam! Bam!
With two strong punches at lightning speed, their faces seemingly cave in and crumble, their blood splattering all over the place. Without a single cry, the poor soldiers fell to the ground.
