Chapter 1891

In the afternoon of the same day, Nathan and his party arrived at the City of Channing.

After returning to Channing, Nathan allowed Colin to move freely with the Elite Eight. Nathan himself needed to reunite with his family before setting off for the North.

After all, war was about to break out in the North, and their fate would be unpredictable. Hence, before leaving, he had to bid goodbye to his family. Alone, Nathan drove straightaway to Cross Group head office.

As Penny, Kylie, and Ava came out of the president's office, they saw Nathan approaching them with a broad smile on his face.

Penny could not help calling out in delight, "Hubby!"

Instinctively, she rushed into Nathan's arms.

Nathan embraced her and gently stroked her straight silky black hair. He smiled, saying, "Are you surprised?"

Penny raised her head, her pretty face blushing and she said shyly, "Didn't you say that the country reassigned your position? Did you go to Brimmopolis to take up the new position?"

"Why are you back so abruptly?"

Nathan replied with a laugh, "It's a long story!"

Nathan only told the Commander-In-Chief of the North Army Fang how he was appointed as the Chief Military Governor. Other than that, Colin and the Elite Eight also knew about it.

Nathan did not tell anyone else, nor did he intend to tell Penny at this time.

It had nothing to do with trust but he was going to the battlefield and he did not want Penny to know lest she worried for him day and night.

Meanwhile, Kylie and Ava both came over.

Kylie greeted him enthusiastically, "Nathan!"

Whilst Ava greeted him with respect, "How do you do, Mr. Cross?"

The employees in the public office area not far away could not help but look at Nathan and Penny with curiosity.

Everyone was amazed. Chairperson Song usually had a serious demeanor in the office. She was known as the Snow Queen but unexpectedly, in the presence of her husband, she was just a

sweet young woman.

When Penny noticed the looks the staff were giving her, her pretty face blushed even deeper and she

whispered: "Hubby, I'm taking off et

now. Let's go home, ask Mom to cook more good dishes tonight and our family will a good meal

together."

Nathan smiled and said, "Let's not cook. Call your parents and Queenie. We'll go to Sally's Seafood restaurant by the Rose Lake and have grilled fish!"

Penny smiled, “As you wish, Hubby."

Nathan left the company with Penny, Kylie, and Ava. First, they went to school to pick up their daughter and then went home to pick up Benson and Leah. Later, the family went happily to Sally's Seafood by the Rose Lake.

Since Leah loved crowds, Nathan did not choose a private room. Instead, they found a suitable table in the main hall of the restaurant.

They ordered a few restaurant specialties and opened a bottle of special liquor for the military.

Nathan wanted to drink with the old man.

Soon, the food was ready, and the family began to eat.

During the meal, Leah could not contain her curiosity and asked Nathan, "Aren't you at work? Why have you come back so suddenly?"

For a moment, Nathan was at a loss

for words as he could not say that

he was secretly appointed as a temporary Chief Military Governor and he was about to go to the front line at the North, ready to lead the North Army in a war with the Xyperia's troops.

Everyone watched Nathan since he appeared to hesitate.

That caused Penny and her family to misunderstand.

They thought that Nathan had failed in his job, otherwise, he would not come back so soon and he would not hesitate to tell them what actually happened.

A look of concern flashed across Penny's face.

Seemingly the rumor that Mr. Davier wanted to cause trouble for her hubby was true.

She could not help but quietly

reaching out under the table and secretly clenched Nathan's hand in her own. At the same time, she looked at him comfortingly, cheering him on with her eyes so that her hubby would not be sad, let alone despair.

Benson was displeased, though, and he chided his wife, Leah, “Your son-in-law knows what he's doing. As a woman, you should know your place and not query too much."

As he spoke, he picked up his wine glass and raised it to Nathan. “Come, come, my good son-in-law. Let's have a toast. We haven't had a drink together for a long time. Let's have a great one today."

“No matter what challenges we face in life or what problems we face at work, let us all vent everything here. Let's get drunk tonight.”

Penny, Kylie, and Ava picked up their wine glasses and said one after another, “Yes, yes, let's raise our glass and get drunk tonight! We shall forget the unpleasant things for now."
