Salute To The General -
Chapter 1932
Chapter 1932
Webb was getting fidgety. He knew Penny was agitated by the news and Ava was more than ready to end him there and then.
He fell on the ground in a subservient posture. "He really vanished, I swear we didn't do anything to him! From what we gathered, Nathan might have fled because he knew that Clifford was going to kill him. That's probably the reason why he escaped."
For a good whole minute, Ava scrutinized the nervous man, trying to figure him out.
She had served alongside Nathan for years, not only was she skilled, but she was also highly experienced in interrogating her enemies.
After surveying Webb for some time, she finally turned towards Penny and lowered her voice.
"Mrs. Cross, he doesn't look like he's lying. The General probably disappeared because something came up. And this guy is just trying to create some trouble for us out of this."
Penny was panic-stricken.
She bit her lips as she thought about what they should do next. "Let's go. We need to do everything we can to replace out what happened."
"Sure," Ava replied before the two hurried off to look into the matter.
As for Webb's subordinates, they struggled to get on their feet and went over to help him.
But their good intentions were not well-taken. Webb raised his fists against them and roared angrily, "You bunch of useless brats! Y'all can't even defeat a woman? What's the use of paying all of you?"
Webb unleashed his pent up fury on his men.
Suddenly, someone stepped in, catching the enraged man off guard.
It was Quent-Clifford's most trusted man.
"What's with all the rage I feel in the air, Mr. Goldstein?" Quent asked with a subtle smile on his face.
"What brings you here, Mr. Douglas?" Webb asked awkwardly, not knowing what to do all of a sudden.
"I'm just here to see if everything is okay," Quent replied, the smile on his face deepened.
"I brought my men over to lure her to the hotel using Nathan's news as you ordered. The original plan was to coerce her and take pictures of it so we can blackmail her and force her to give up
Cross Corporation's shares. But we didn't expect to meet such a capable bodyguard guarding her. That woman just ruined everything for us."
"Don't worry about it. Time's on our side. I have a few men with me, by the way. They're really good. I'm sure they'll be of help to you," Quent assured him.
Webb's face lit up with gratitude. "Thanks, Mr. Douglas! That's really kind of you."
"No worries. I'm just doing what Mr. Davier ordered. You can use whatever means to make sure Penny cooperates. We will do all we can to back you up. Mr. Davier said that if we can get out hands on her and her daughter, Nathan will come tous on his own."

A flicker of malice glimmered in Webb's eyes. "Don't worry, Mr. Douglas. I'll get hold of Penny. Nathan will definitely appear when he knows we have his wife. Mr. Davier can have his way with
Nathan then."
Over at the Grand Council in Brimmopolis, the Chief Military Governor convened with all the commanders-in-chief.
After the meeting, the generals excused themselves cordially from the presence of the Chief Military Governor.
Just as Nathan thought he could have some time alone in the meeting room after everyone left, Colin came in in a rush and dashed toward Nathan, who was still wearing his military coat and mask. "I have bad news, General."
"What is it?" Nathan's brows furrowed in a frown.
Colin came closer and whispered, "The Daviers and the Goldsteins could not replace anything about your whereabouts, so they thought you deserted the army at battle. They went to Channing and was making things difficult for Mrs. Cross so they can force you to show yourself."
Nathan's blood boiled at the mention of the two families' names.
"The Daviers and the Goldsteins
and
again? So you're saying they using
my family to force me to go to them? Fine. I'll do as they wish. Clear my schedule and let's head for Channing. I reckon they will regret it when they see me."
