Salute To The General -
Chapter 1944
Chapter 1944
Early the next day, the Davier and the Goldstein family caught wind of the misfortune that befell Quent and Webb.
Clifford was astonished when he found out from his subordinate that Nathan showed up and put an end to Quent and Webb.
I thought he went into hiding because he knew I was going after him for revenge? Why did he show up in the end?And why did the army not take any actions against him for being a deserter? That's strange!
Clifford could not wrap his head around Nathan's tricks even after some pondering.
Just as Clifford was caught in a muddle of thoughts, Spook, who was commissioned to collect information for Clifford, came in. "Mr.
Davier, Nathan had killed Mr. Douglas. What should we do now? Should we arrange for someone to avenge his death?" his coarse voice rung lowly and softly beside Clifford's ears.
Clifford rolled his eyes concocting a plan before he asked, "What is the Goldsteins' reaction?"
“Webb is their heir. The whole family was shaken when they found out he died. They vowed to take revenge. I heard Ms. Goldstein is fixated on leading the whole family to Saphira Mountain to request for Mighty Rax's help. It seems like they plan on asking him to vanquish Nathan.”
Clifford bit his lips and took in a breath of cold air.
"What did you say? The Goldstein family is asking Mighty Rax to deal with Nathan? He's been living under the radar for the past twenty
ײן
years!
"This is exactly what I heard," Spook reiterated.
Clifford's eyes widened in alarm. “It seems like Nathan had really
stepped on their toe this time," Clifford noted after a slight pause, "Mighty Bax might have retreated into seclusion for a long time, but as his name goes, he used to be a prominent figure in Brimmopolis. Even the President had to take him seriously. He was born a prodigy. He has a photographic memory and is steeped in martial arts. He was only eighteen when he defeated all the fighters in Brimmopolis."
Clifford looked at Spook from the corner of his eyes before he continued.
"To top that up, The Goldstein family is an influential family. Rax is a sociable person himself and he likes establishing his connections. He has lots of followers all across the country. Some go on to say that Rax Goldstein can even do things the President replaces tricky to accomplish. We can well say there's nothing he can't do."
Spook nodded as Clifford spoke. He had heard things about Might Rax, but what Clifford told him was still enlightening. "Even the President is afraid of him?" Spook asked.
"That's right. This is not an overstatement," Clifford confirmed.
"Mighty Rax is one of the Goldsteins, and the family is both a renowned and powerful family. Their influence is simply not something to be overlooked. Besides, he's well-versed in martial arts. He comes in second to no one. And
there is also the Mighty Twelve Warlords under him. Each of them is dexterous and experienced. This aside, Rax also has many followers. He is widely revered in the country, especially by other prominent families and leaders of various companies. These people used to show their
support for Rax running for President.

Clifford cleared his throat as he recalled what happened many years ago. "But of course, Rax was not interested in being the President back then He would have really ended up being one if he wanted. He is a man with both battle prowess and family background, and key figures of all fields support him. This itself is enough reason for the President to take him seriously. But Rax himself knew the President saw him as a threat. That was why he decided to live his life in the deep forest. He wanted to assure the President that he meant no harm."
“That's really impressive," Spook commented as he listened.
Clifford's face suddenly glowed in pleasure at this point. "Nathan must have offended the Goldstein family big time. Now that they are turning to Mighty Rax for help, this will be the
end of him."
Spook's gaze darted around schemingly. "Mr. Davier, does this mean we just need to watch and wait while they take care of Nathan?"
Clifford's brows arched in conceit. “Exactly. Send some men to spy on the Goldstein family. Keep me abreast of their every movement. Also, keep an eye on Nathan. Make sure we don't lose him again."
"Understood, Mr. Davier."
