Shae was utterly shocked to hear that.

But shortly after, she sneered, "I was wondering how that person dared to instruct his man to slap me. It turns out that he is Nathan, the commander who got fired by my uncle! What a small world. I never thought that Nathan is that woman's husband. No wonder even I've spent a lot of money buying things at Ospea and donated them to the refugees in Astoria, I failed to get elected as United Nations Messenger of Peace. Hearing that, no one dared to utter a single word.

But, Ghost King also knew that Shae was a woman who liked to boast her achievements.

He sensed that Shae was jealous of Penny.

Therefore, he forced a courteous smile on his face and said, "Ms. Shae, the appointment of United Nations Messenger of Peace had come to an end. Just let go of it! You have so many honorary titles. It doesn't matter if you got appointed as the Messenger of Peace or not."

Hearing that, Shae scoffed, "Ghost King, everyone said you are an extremely powerful person in Brimmopolis. But I found that you are so timid now. Hasn't Nathan been dismissed from his position as the General of the North? For the time being, he has lost actual power and authority and is left with only a mere title. He is just a paper tiger now. Why are you so afraid of him?"

"Both of you were just like gods to me. I'm just an ordinary people who is making a living in the market. I can't afford to piss any of you off." Ghost King smiled bitterly.

Then, he continued, "Ms. Shae, can you please don't make trouble here, for my sake?"

Although Ghost King's voice was so pleading, Shae knew that he came from an impressive background. She didn't think she would be able to create trouble here even if she really wanted to.

After all, she was just a younger member of the Davier family.

Since Ghost King had given her so much respect, she knew that she should give him some form of respect too.

Hence, she nodded in agreement, "Okay. I won't be too petty with them tonight, for your sake. But, I don't guarantee their safety after they exit the Ghost Auction House."

Ghost King felt his head aching when he heard Shae's words.

What Shoe meant is that she wants to teach Nathan and Penny a lesson after they leave the auction house! Fine, that isn't important now. For now, I have to make sure she doesn't cause trouble here.

After chatting with Shae for a short while, he left the room.

Soon, the auction officially began.

The first item to be auctioned was a beautifully carved rosewood table.

The bidders in the room began to call out their bids keenly, and that caused the atmosphere to fill with noise.

In the end, the rosewood table was sold at five million.

The next few auction items were also bid by the buyers eagerly.

Soon, the abstract painting by Wyland Huck, Eternal Toil was put up for auction.

The starting bid was thirty million!

The bidders repeatedly outbid each other to purchase that painting. Not long after, the price hiked up to sixty million. According to the market price, it would cost eighty million.

Since the items sold in the black market were acquired by illegal means the prices were usually much lower than the market prices. The buyers were there to get cheaper products.

Hence, when the price of the Eternal Toil was close to the market value the buyers stopped raising their bidding paddles.

Right when the auctioneer was about to end the bidding, the sound of a desk bell from the Sublime Room, which was located on the second floor of the Auction House, drew everyone's attention.

Then, Colin's voice boomed from the private room. "Mr. Cross offers a price of eighty million."

Everyone flew into an uproar upon hearing that.

"Oh my god! Did they just increase the bid by twenty million? It seems like they really want to get the painting."

The crowd started to whisper to each other.

"Who is the bidder in Sublime Room? He is too generous!"
