Salute To The General -
Chapter 2103
Chapter 2103
The warfare declared between Nathan and the Davier family spread like wildfire. Before long, every corner in the upper-class society of Brimmopolis had caught wind of the news, and it became the biggest talk of the city.
Everytime Nathan is mentioned, everyone sighed in sympathy, seemingly thinking in agreement that Nathan would have the short end of the stick this time.
Once the undefeatable defender of the North with several significant victories, Nathan Cross had left quite a good impression on everyone. Unfortunately, he incurred the wrath of Clifford Davier, and therefore signed his own death warrant.
Everyone remembered the news of Nathan losing his position as the Commander-In-Chief of the North Army a while ago as a result of Clifford's rage. But now, it's his life that's on the line.
Everyone felt pity for Nathan, thinking this time he's done for, as Clifford had brought out the big guns.
Once the Davier family had made the news to exterminate Nathan public, all of the Daviers' men, troops, and friends from all over the world came to provide support and manpower.
All of a sudden, the Davier family residence was swarmed with people, day in, day out.
Nathan, on the other hand, seemed to be on vacation in comparison with the Daviers' constant effort in preparing for the fight.
Queenie did not go to summer camp these few days. Thus, every day without fail, Nathan, along with Penny and Kylie, would accompany Queenie on trips to Brimmopolis after work. They must have visited every nook and cranny of the city.
In a blink of an eye, half an month had passed.
Nathan's birthday was just around the corner.
After a discussion, Penny and Kylie decided to reserve a grand, private room in Boyale Restaurant of Mandarin Hotel for his birthday celebration. "The dinner table in the room can fit fifty people at the same time," Penny informed Nathan. "Do you think it's enough to fit everyone?" she asked. Nathan smiled affectionately in response. "I don't have many friends in Brimmopolis, fifty is more than enough."
Penny laughed. "Lies," she retorted. "It's not that you don't have many friends, you're just modest and despise extravagant celebrations. That's why this time, we'll only be inviting your close friends and family only."
"You're the best, honey," Nathan chuckled.
On the day of his birthday, Nathan and the rest arrived at the room they had reserved.
Penny was deeply invested in Nathan's birthday celebration, intending for it to be one of his best. Once they had arrived, she went to the kitchen to check for herself the preparations. How's the food going? And the liquor I ordered? Is everything here? Did they miss out on anything? The cake! Penny went around the restaurant, ensuring everything was in place for the party.
Only after she was thoroughly satisfied did she return to the room.
To her horror, aside from Nathan and a few other people, the room was empty.
"Nathan," dumbfounded, she spoke. "D-Didn't you say Colin is going to invite your previous colleagues and acquaintances? Where is everybody?" Penny stammered with her eyes wide.
With a shrug, Nathan turned his gaze to Colin.
Panicked, Colin responded, "Mr. and Mrs. Cross, promise, I've sent out the invites to all those in the upper-class society of Brimmopolis in relations with Mr. Cross. I have no clue as to why no one has arrived," he explained.
The second Colin stopped speaking, some guests arrived at the door.
It was Hansel and Camilla. Tagging along behind them was Austin.
Nathan and Penny stepped forward to greet them immediately.
Hansel handed over a present to Nathan with a merry grin. "Welcome to adulthood, Nathan.
May you continue to defend our country diligently and grow wiser, stronger, and healthier every day! Don't let me down," laughed Hansel.
"Certainly, Mr. Windsor," Nathan smiled, "I wouldn't dream of it." He then gestured them to sit. "Please, take a seat. We shall have a toast in a little while," he told them.
Hansel waved his hands apologetically. "Unfortunately, I am suffering from high blood pressure. My doctors had warned me to stop drinking," he informed.
"Besides, I'm no longer young. You might feel uneasy if I were to intrude," continued Hansel.
"We're only here to wish you a blessed birthday this time. We'll be leaving now," he concluded.
Nathan was stunned. "Won't you be staying for dinner, Mr. Windsor? Madam?" he asked, dismayed.
Hansel smiled in response. "We appreciated the offer, but no thanks." He gestured to Camilla and himself, "We're vegetarians right now, for religious purposes," he clarified.
Before he left, a thought crossed Hansel's mind. He turned to Nathan, “Ah right, one more thing," he began. "Your guests might not be coming today," he told Nathan.
"They might be at the Davier family residence instead. Clifford Davier is having a feast tonight, and all those with power and status in Brimmopolis are invited, along with their followers and men," explained Hansel. Narugi.Org

Hansel paused, eyeing Nathan sympathetically. "My guess is, your guests have all gone to the Daviers' place instead."
Realization dawned on Nathan. No wonder no one has arrived yet. They're with the Daviers.
Seeing the look on Nathan's face,
Hansel gave him a comforting smile. "But don't you worry. Just because we're noteating here tonight doesn't mean we have stopped supporting you, he reassured. "The Windsors will forever be on your side, promised Hansel.
"Thank you, Mr. Windsor," smiled Nathan.
With a final nod, the Windsors left.
