Salute To The General -
Chapter 2126
Chapter 2126
At the pavilion, Nathan and his men could feel the approaching storm.
However, their reaction was the opposite of Penny's. All of them showed no fear. Instead, they were raring for a fight.
Nathan was in a state of calm as he took another sip of coffee. Putting down his cup, he smirked. "Are they finally here?"
Meanwhile, inside one of the black cars, Clifford was seated in the back seat with his eyes closed. His body swayed together with the bumps on the road.
No one knew if he was sleeping or just resting.
Seated in the front passenger seat was Spook who couldn't help but turn around and ask softly,
"Mr. Davier, we're about to arrive at Tarragon
Mountain."
Clifford gradually opened his eyes and asked, "Is Nathan here? How many men did he bring?"
Within the funeral procession, Clifford ordered all the women and children to turn back. Only the key male members of the Davier family, important associates, private army, and disciples were allowed to continue.
In other words, today's priority was to kill Nathan. The funeral was secondary.
Consequently, everyone in the procession was armed to the teeth. They were there for the showdown with Nathan on behalf of the Davier family. As the funeral procession moved forward, Spook had already sent men ahead to scout the situation at Tarragon Mountain. More importantly, he wanted to replace out the number of men Nathan brought with him.
At that moment, he replied respectfully, "Mr. Davier, based on the latest intel from our scouts, Nathan has arrived at Tarragon Mountain. However, other than his wife, Penny, he only has Colin and a few other National Guards with him, which surprises me. Furthermore, Fang, Destroyer, and Heptakill have also arrived with a subordinate each to support Nathan."
Mid-sentence, Spook couldn't help but laugh. "Poor Nathan. He used to be the Commander-In-Chief of the North Army and led a three hundred thousand strong army. Now that he is going to have a showdown with us, only a handful of people are willing to support him. Hahaha."
He continued, “Mr. Davier, you even got me to assemble a three thousand strong fully armed private army as our trump card against Nathan's supporters. Now, it seems that they have no chance to show themselves. The Davier family's forces alone are more than enough to kill Nathan ten times over."
Mr. Davier replied calmly, "You can never be too careful. This private army will be our secret weapon. Instruct Pietro to lead them and be ready to deploy anytime upon my instructions."
Spook replied, "Yes, sir!"
Soon, the grand funeral procession arrived at the pavilion and stopped about a hundred meters away.
"Quick!"
"Faster!"
"Hurry!"
Amidst orders being screamed, the members of the funeral procession gathered after alighting from their vehicles.
Soon, more than twenty thousand men in mourning garb, armed with a sword by their hips, gathered.
Meanwhile, Penny's expression turned pale as she stared at the massive show of force by the enemy.
At the same moment, Nathan, Fang, and the others walked out of the pavilion.
Nathan's calm voice rang out beside Penny's ears. "Don't worry, I've got this under control."
Penny's fears were eased a little
when she heard Nathan's
reassurances while Fang and to
others stood in a line
eNathan,
glaring coldly at the Davier army.
The Davier troops suddenly opened up a path and Clifford emerged from it, followed by his trusted captains.
As Nathan and Clifford stared at each other, their glare was so intense that sparks could fly.
Clifford sneered, “Haha, Nathan, I'm surprised you turned up early for your own funeral.”
Nathan replied with a smile, "I always make an effort to be
respectful of lonely old men,
especially since I'm going to send you off to meet your maker.
Naturally, it's good manners to arrive early for that."
The moment he spoke, Clifford's expression changed drastically. All twenty thousand men of the Davier family were outraged.
