Salute To The General
Chapter 2191

Chapter 2191

Nathan stared at the Shulzs as they knelt and begged pathetically. "Weren't they much more arrogant earlier? Why are they sniveling now?"

"Mr. Cross, we were blind," Shangley sobbed. "If we had known that you were a respected acquaintance of the mayor, we would never have offended you under threat of death!"

Nathan's face and voice grew cold with fury at these words.

"Did you mean to say that you shouldn't have offended me if you had known that I have powerful friends? If I was like Ms. Lang, an ordinary societal worker, I deserve to be humiliated?"

"Mr. Cross, that was not what I meant!" Shangley howled, his face ashen.

"Then why don't you tell me what you really mean?" Nathan answered coldly.

Shangley was incapable of speaking. He was sweating profusely, trying to think of a way to justify his and his family's actions.

Nheless, everybody knew Shangley's character. If Nathan had not gotten the involvement of the mayor today and if he did not have the connections that he had, his fate today would have been worse than Liliana's.

Shangley hung his head, unable to meet Nathan's furious glare.

Mrs. Shulz was looking pale too. She did not expect things to blow up the way they did. She was aware that her family had gotten into big trouble this time. After all, she was afraid of the mayor, not of Nathan.

However, when she saw that Nathan was unwilling to forgive them, she panicked.

"We have already apologized to you. What more do you want?" she wailed.

"What's the use of saying sorry?" Nathan said. "My mother's leg is fractured. How does that fix anything?

"From my experience, there are some things that an apology cannot fix. You need to suffer as I have suffered, as my mother has suffered, for it to be sufficient punishment for you."

The crowd, who held the Shulz and their antics in low regard, couldn't help but cheer at Nathan's words.

"Well said!"

"Your brat was the one responsible for breaking that poor lady's leg. Look at the pain that she's in! For you to expect to be off the hook with just an apology! Wouldn't that be too easy on you?"

"That's right. If apologies were effective, there wouldn't be any need for the law."

"Yes. This family needs to pay the price. Give them a taste of their own medicine for once."

The Shulz, surrounded by people who were openly discussing their fate, shivered with fright and despair.

At the same time, Vernon asked Nathan for advice on how to deal with the Shulz.

They stared at Nathan, terrified.

Nathan had mentioned that he wanted them to feel the same pain as they've inflicted. Thus, they were afraid that Nathan was going to snap all their legs in a fit of rage.

Nathan gazed at the Shulz, who

looked back with fear-stricken faces. "Don't look so frightened. I want you to feel the pain of others for a change, but I'm not going to break your legs.

"How about this... Mr. Shulz, you will report yourself to the relevant departments and confess to all of your crimes, not limited to the ones committed today. Your superiors will punish you as they see fit.

"As for your wife and son, kneeling for three hours here in this park to repent seems like a good start.

"Do you have any objections to this form of punishment?"

Shangley mumbled hopelessly that there were no objections.

He was aware that his career is over. The extent of his crimes was so vast, so he would be lucky to avoid prison from the Department of Justice.

In all his years indulged in abusing his power and participating in bribes and corruption, he was certain that all would be exposed.

As for his wife and kid, they may not even survive this ordeal of kneeling in repentance. Even before the three hours were up, they might have already lost their legs.
