Salute To The General -
Chapter 2217
Back at the chairman's office in Cross Group, Nathan was sitting on the chair Penny always sat in. He closed his eyes as he enjoyed Penny's massage.
Penny noticed the exhaustion on his face, and she asked, "Is work taking its toll on you?"
Nathan opened his eyes and smiled. "I just killed an Ariarica commander who was stationed in Jetroina not long ago, and all the western countries made a hoo-ha out of it. They kept protesting through their diplomats and asked the military to punish me. And they're up to no good in the military as well.
"All the bases are getting busy, since they need to handle a lot of matters. A battle might come at anytime, so we have to be prepared for it.
As the Chief Military Governor, that means my job is piling up, so it's tiring me out "
Ever since that decisive battle against the Davier family, Penny found out that her husband was the elusive Chief Military Governor. She looked at him gently and pecked him on the cheek. "I'm proud of you, hubby," she said softly.
Nathan smiled. He pulled Penny into his embrace and was about to make out with her, but then, someone suddenly opened the office's door.
The one who came in was none other than Penny's bodyguard-Ava. She forgot to knock since she was in a hurry, but when she came in and saw the couple about to make out, she was stunned.
And then her face turned red. "Um, well, uh... I-I forgot to knock the door. I'll just go out and knock again before I come in."
She scurried off and closed the door. When she knocked on the door and came in again, Penny had gotten up, but her face was red with embarrassment.
Nathan was feeling awkward as well. Dam.
Why did I forget to lock the door? And Ava, you're getting a bit too reckless lately. You should have knocked before you came in.
Nathan coughed. "Do you need anything, Ava?" he asked calmly.
Ava finally remembered why she came in, and she quickly got serious. "General, the leader of Blackwell clan's division in the South has sent a letter to you. The guy's name is Randall." Nathan picked the cup of coffee up and took a sip. "Read it for me."
Ava had an awkward look on her face. "I don't really think that's good for my health. You should read it yourself, General."
Nathan frowned at her. "What did he say? Let me take a look."
Ava quickly handed the letter over to Nathan. He took a look, but there was only a short message and a signature on it. The message read, 'Nathan, if you don't want your family to be dragged into this, come to the division and beg for our forgiveness. -Marshal.'
Nathan arched his eyebrow after reading the message. He wants me to beg for forgiveness, and he's threatening me with my family's safety? How brazen.
When he noticed that the sender was calling themselves 'Marshal,' his face fell. Nathan only became a general after he fought countless battles in the North. He had to bathe in blood and battled for hours on end; he had to watch as his comrades fell, leaving their families behind; he had to wade through a river of blood and eke his way up to a mountain of bones, and only then could he become a general.
Randall is nothing more than a common brute. A petty robber. Yet he calls himself marshal? How dare he?
Nathan seldom got angry, but this time, Randall managed to stoke his flames of fury.
Ava noticed his anger as well, and she lowered her head out of shock. "What will you do, General? Should I give Zach a call and tell him
to send his army to take this Randall guy out?"
Nathan answered coldly, "You do not need to waste any military resource on a mere robber. If Randall wants to see me, then he shall get his wish. And I'm flattening their division as a bonus."
