Salute To The General
Chapter 2231

Nathan threw a punch over as well.

That punch looked ordinary, but the aura flushing out of it was as strong as the waves of a tsunami.

Carlton instantly realized that something was off, and his smile turned upside down.

Unfortunately, it was no longer possible to change his tactics or moves.

Boom!

The two fists slammed into one another. It was as though two meteors had smashed directly into each other, and the loud explosion filled the hall.

Nathan stood firmly, but Carlton stumbled backward a few steps.

There were cracks on the marble floor that matched the steps Carlton took as he fell backward.

It was pin-drop silence after that. In fact, a fresh leaf could fall onto the floor and everyone would still hear it.

Both the members of the Blackwell clan and Colin and his comrades were staring intently at Nathan and Carlton.

The two fighters only made one move before they stopped and stood there without moving a muscle.

Everyone wondered. So? Who won?

It didn't take long before everyone noticed a crucial point. Carlton was still on his feet after that punch, but his hand was trembling uncontrollably.

The disciples of the Blackwell clan all looked surprised. Fear filled their souls as they thought, Did Nathan defeat our Master?

It was as everyone had guessed. Nathan won that battle because when their fists met, Carlton became overwhelmed. The latter's arm also turned numb from that attack, and his internal organs got messed up. Carlton was trying his best to stop his hand from trembling and was holding on so that he wouldn't vomit blood.

He was the head of the Blackwell clan and was regarded as one of the most powerful fighters in the world. Hence, it was only natural that he couldn't accept the fact that his disciples had just witnessed him being defeated in a single move.

Just then, Nathan got a cigarette out of his possession and grabbed his lighter. Click! The fire sprung to life and lit the cigarette up. Nathan took a puff before calmly declaring, "You lost."

When Carlton heard that, he tried to suppress his pain and continue fighting Nathan... Or at least that was the case until he saw the lighter Nathan was holding.

Carlton instantly trembled as though lightning had just struck him.

I-Isn't that the lighter I spent a fortune on? I procured it and gave it to the Chief Military

Governor as a gift. W-Why does Nathan have it?

Carlton turned pale. A bad feeling crept up on him as he stared fearfully at Nathan.

The former forced himself to calm down before asking, "H-How did you come to own that lighter?"

The lighter?

Nathan was slightly taken aback. He looked at the lighter he had with him and instantly guessed what was going on.

His gaze shone with amusement when he shifted his attention back to Carlton.

"It's a gift," replied Nathan calmly.

A gift? F-From who?" asked Carlton. His voice was quivering a little.

He could more or less guess who Nathan was, but the former couldn't accept the truth.

Carlton tried to comfort himself by lying to himself. Maybe the Chief Military Governor doesn't like that lighter, so he gave it away, and that is probably how Nathan ended up owning it.

At that moment, Carlton truly didn't want to accept the fact that Nathan was the Chief Military Governor. That was understandable because the Blackwell clan would be in a heap of trouble if that was the case.

If, on the other hand, Nathan simply had the lighter because he was a good friend of the Chief Military Governor... Well, in that case, the Blackwell clan would still have hope.

That was why Carlton prayed that Nathan would say that the gift was from the Chief Military Governor.

Unfortunately, Nathan grinned and replied, "Someone bought this lighter and asked my friend, Will, to deliver it to me."

Boom!

Carlton felt as though he was struck by lightning and was stunned when he heard what Nathan said.

It was obvious that the friend named Will was none other than Major-General Will Long.

That meant that Nathan was, without a doubt, the mysterious Chief Military Governor!

Nathan looked right at Carlton. The former had a skin-deep grin on as he asked, "What's wrong? Do you recognize this lighter or something?" Everyone else was confused.

They wondered why the two men were suddenly talking about the lighter.

All three thousand disciples of the Blackwell clan were practically scratching their heads in confusion when Thump! Carlton suddenly went down on his knees.

At that moment, Carlton was no longer acting like the leader of the powerful Blackwell clan. He behaved as though he was a foot soldier meeting the general for the first time. He trembled in fear as he knelt there and said, "I am a foolish man who knows nothing. Earlier, I didn't know who you were and acted poorly.

Please forgive me for it."

The disciples of the Blackwell clan all dropped their jaws.

Just seconds ago, the head of their clan was burning with rage and wanted to continue fighting Nathan. Why is he suddenly so scared that he is kneeling and begging for forgiveness?
