Salute To The General -
Chapter 2283
Not long after, a few black sedans arrived at the scene.
A plump, middle-aged, imposing man alighted the car with his underlings.
He had a cold, piercing gaze and exuded a powerful aura.
Anyone could tell that he was used to being placed on a pedestal and was the type of leader who had power over someone's life and death.
The man was Oliver Smith. Even though he wasn't a high-ranking officer, he had absolute power in
Channing's detention center. No one dared go up against him.
The crowd turned to Oliver in awe when they saw him. Hank's father is here.
They then turned to look at Nathan with pity in their eyes, thinking he must be done for this round.
The sanitation worker paled in fright when she saw Oliver. She never thought that Nathan would land into so much trouble just because he stood up for her. Henry hurried over as Oliver and his henchmen made their way toward the scene.
"Dad!" he exclaimed.
Genevieve quickly followed behind and greeted Oliver politely.
Oliver looked at Henry, Genevieve, and the injured lackeys lying on the ground. He frowned when he realized these people were his son's friends. "What happened?"
Henry pointed at Nathan furiously and exaggerated everything that had happened. He purposely left out the part where Genevieve bullied the sanitation worker and only mentioned the part where Nathan teased and bullied Genevieve, beat up his friends, and his intention to teach Henry a lesson.
Oliver's face darkened after hearing his son out.
He stared at Nathan coldly. "Who the hell are you? How dare you bully others like that? Do you honestly think no one can stop you..."
Oliver trailed off when he noticed Colin standing beside Nathan. "Oh, aren't you General Dunne? What are you doing here?" he exclaimed.
Colin was the one who sent Kristoff and Bowen to the detention unit the night before with his men.
He was the one who questioned Oliver when he heard that Kristoff and Bowen had been let off the hook this afternoon. Oliver had told Colin that the military had no right to interfere with the detention unit's decision since they were in different departments and refused to explain his reasons.
Hence, they could be considered acquaintance.
Colin stared at Oliver coldly and replied, "This is our general, Nathan Cross!"
General Nathan!
Everyone gasped in surprise upon his words.
Oliver immediately paled in fright, while Henry and Genevieve felt just as terrible. All of them stared at Nathan in horror. They knew their luck had run out.
With a face as white as a sheet, Oliver still managed to force a smile as he made his way toward Nathan.
"Haha, I knew you were extraordinary the moment I laid eyes on you. Who would have thought that you're the ex commander-in-chief of the North Army, also known as the God of War!" Oliver tried to get on Nathan's good side.
He continued, "Anyway, General, this is all just a huge misunderstanding. How could we not have recognized our own people when we're all on the same side?"
Nathan remained calm as ever while Colin retorted coldly, "Stop it, we're part of the military, remember? We're from a totally different department from yours. How could we ever be on the same side?"
Oliver felt embarrassed upon hearing that.
He knew Colin was still mad at him for letting Kristoff and Bowen off.
You brats. Why do you have to pick on this guy? There are so many out there for you to pick on. Oliver cursed at Genevieve and Henry silently.
He had no choice but to smile apologetically at Nathan even though he was being reprimanded by Colin.
"General Cross, General Dunne, I was only following orders from the higher-ups when I let Kristoff and Bowen off last night. What else can I do-" "Hush now. Let's take care of your son's problems first before we talk about you letting Kristoff and Bowen off the hook," Nathan replied calmly.
Oliver's heart skipped a beat upon his words. He knew Nathan wouldn't be letting the matter rest that easily.
