Chapter 2308

Nathan and Penny led Colin, Ava, and two other subordinates back to the hotel.

They had just reached the place when a man rushed over nervously and stared anxiously at Nathan.

Colin and Ava stepped forward to stop the man from getting close to Nathan and Penny.

Since he couldn't get close, he shouted nervously at Nathan. "Mr. Cross, I am Tim's subordinate, and my name is Colby."

Nathan turned around and recognized the man as Tim's subordinate, so he nodded at Colin and Ava. They let Colby approach him.

"What are you doing here, Colby?"

Colby was sweating, but he quickly reported, "Something terrible happened, Mr. Cross. Tim is in trouble."

Nathan was surprised to hear that. "Slow down. Tell me what happened."

Colby replied, "Tim didn't return to the War Dragon Chamber's headquarters tonight, and someone sent a message over. They claimed to have Tim with them and said they'll kill Tim if you don't go to them." Nathan frowned and asked, "Tim is a powerful fighter, so the chances of him being taken away are very slim. Maybe this is all a prank?"

Colby shook his head and replied, "No, there's no mistaking it. They had Tim's whip sword with them."

After saying that, Colby waved to his man.

A man approached them while holding a whip sword tainted with blood. The weapon was definitely

Tim's.

That means Tim really is in trouble.

Nathan's face fell as realization hit.

"Did the messenger say who the mastermind is? Did they tell you where I should go to get Tim?"

Colby answered, "No, but they gave us a phone."

As he spoke, he showed Nathan a phone.

Colin examined the device and made sure that it was safe before handing it to Nathan.

It was strange. Maybe the mastermind was great at estimating the time taken to travel or perhaps someone was secretly spying on Nathan and the others, but things were extremely convenient. The phone rang as soon as Nathan touched it. Nathan answered the call. "Hello."

Tetsuo's gleeful voice came from the other end of the line. "Hey there, Mr. Cross. I'm guessing you didn't expect to hear from me, eh?"

Nathan warned, "Let Tim go right now, and I'll think about letting you get out of this unscathed. This is your last chance to make things right." Tetsuo sneered, "Aw, I guess you still don't understand who has the upper hand here. Listen, buddy. Your pal, Tim, is with us now, and if you wish to see him again, you will go to the abandoned power station in the eastern suburbs right now. Also, just a kind reminder. Jazona is my turf, and I have spies everywhere. If you call the cops or if you're not coming alone, I will learn about it immediately, and I will have to cut Tim up. Don't worry. You'll still get to see him... in pieces. Are you into corpse puzzles? If not, I suggest that you show up alone within two hours, so we can settle our scores. Don't be late, or you'll face grave consequences."

After saying all that, Tetsuo hung up.

Penny and the others saw Nathan's grim expression. Concerned, she asked, "What did they say?"

Nathan calmly replied, "Tim probably has his guard down. Tetsuo Fujiwara has him now. He asked me to go alone and meet up with them in two hours to put an end to all this."

Penny, Colin, and Ava couldn't help thinking about how Tim was supposedly destined to bring misfortune to those around him. It's said that his misfortune will kill his friends and family.

They also recalled that Tim had warned Nathan not to get too close to him because bad luck might follow.

C-Can it be? Will Tim's bad luck actually kill Nathan?

Penny's eyes shone with worry. She wasn't superstitious, but the matter involved her husband's survival, so she didn't want to risk it.

However, she knew that Tim used to work for Nathan, and he was a precious comrade of Nathan's.

Even now, Nathan sees him as a friend and a subordinate. There is no way Nathan will sit back while Tim is in danger.

With that in mind, she bit her lower lip a little and struggled to say, "Are you going alone?"

Nathan answered, "Yes. They are just a bunch of thieves, so don't worry. I can handle them on my own."

Colin and Ava simultaneously volunteered, "Mr. Cross, please let us go with you."

Nathan shook his head and commanded, "No. You are to stay here and protect my wife. Don't worry about anything else."

After saying that, he turned to Colby and instructed, "Get me a car."

Colby replied, "Our car is parked right outside, Mr. Cross. You can use it anytime."

Nathan nodded and turned around to leave.

"Hubby!" called out Penny.

Nathan paused and turned around to face her.

She dashed over and planted a long kiss on him. After that, she gritted her teeth before requesting, "Hubby, I am a little worried. Promise me you'll come back alive."

Nathan smiled. "I promise."
