Salute To The General -
Chapter 2727
At the airport of Remdik's capital city, a private jet touched down slowly. As the crowd watched, Nathan and Penny alighted from the aircraft in a leisurely manner.
The balding ruler of Remdik, Gammon the Great, had led a group of ministers here, and they had been waiting for a long time.
"Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Cross!"
"Hello, Mr. Gammon!"
As Nathan and Gammon shook hands enthusiastically, the reporters surrounding them immediately took pictures of the two greeting each other.
Without a doubt, the photos of the two shaking hands would make the headlines in the international news the next day.
After Nathan, Gammon, and their wives boarded an extended executive sedan, they were escorted by numerous police and military vehicles as they left the airport for the Red Palace. Upon arrival at the Red Palace, Nathan and Gammon had a friendly conversation.
They discussed topics on future cooperation and exchanges, as well as dealing with world crises, and they were able to reach common views.
In the afternoon, they had lunch in the Red Palace.
Later in the day, Gammon warmly invited Nathan to take part in the hunt at the Remdik Royal Hunting Ground.
Nathan was a little hesitant at first because Penny was pregnant. She had to avoid physically tiring activities like running around. Hunting was something she should not take part in. However, Gammon was really enthusiastic, and Nathan knew that hunting was his favorite sport. For a moment, he was at a loss.
Penny saw that her husband was hesitant, so she smiled and said, "Nathan, it is well-known that Mr. Gammon loves hunting. You must accompany him and have some fun. Since I'm not well, I will not join you. I'll stay in the Red Palace and chat with Mr. Gammon's wife." Nathan nodded in agreement. "Okay, then."
At dusk, Gammon and Nathan, accompanied by the National Guard, arrived at the Royal Hunting Ground.
Together, Gammon and Nathan got down from the Jeep.
Gammon pointed to the dense forest in front of him and said proudly, "The mountains in front of us are part of the Royal Hunting Ground. There are all kinds of animals living in it besides the common small animals such as hares and pheasants. There are also wolves, leopards, tigers, and even wild beasts such as black bears. It's the perfect hunting paradise!"
Gammon smiled as he continued, "If it were the head of another country, I would not dare to invite them to come here with me to participate in the hunt. However, Mr. Cross, you are different! First of all, our friendship is extraordinary. And secondly, you were enlisted in the army before. I have witnessed your astounding combat power with my own eyes. These birds and beasts are no threat to you."
"Mr. Gammon, you think too highly of me." Nathan smiled.
Gammon shook his head. "No, I am just speaking the truth. But in all the previous war games and the boxing match, you defeated my capable subordinates. To be honest, I'm still a little reluctant to admit defeat. I don't believe that you are proficient in everything, and I don't believe that I can't beat you even once."
Nathan was taken aback. "Mr.
Gammon, are you thinking of sending someone to compete with me?"
Gammon laughed aloud. "I'm not sending anyone to compete with you. This time, I'll compete with you personally."
Nathan was even more surprised.
Gammon explained, "Of course, I'm not trying to compete with you in war games, nor do I want to compete with you in martial arts. Although I was in the army before, I'm no match for you in these aspects now that I'm old. Hunting is what I do best! This time, I'm going to compete with you to see which one of us can hunt more prey within a specified time. How about that?"
Nathan was nonplussed. "Mr. Gammon, are you serious?"
"Of course! Although I am much older than you, my hunting skills will not decrease with age. The older the hunter, the greater the hunting skills. Hunting requires all kinds of knowledge and experience. It will take hours just to explain to you the many correct ways of tracking large prey in the dense forest. Mr. Cross, you may be powerful in combat, but it's useless if you can't replace any prey. Hunting is a combination of experience, knowledge, strength, and luck, and the result is full of unknowns which makes it more interesting." "If that is so, I'll play this game with you, Mr. Gammon. Let's have some fun."
