Salute To The General -
Chapter 2730
After killing off the two werewolves, Nathan suddenly heard a cold voice beside his ear.
"You have some decent skills. No wonder you managed to kill my friend, Pele."
Nathan turned around slowly and saw a burly, bearded man stepping out from the shadows.
The speaker was none other than Goliath.
He was accompanied by two companions, who were supporting an old, slightly balding hunter between them.
Nathan was surprised to recognize the hunter as Gammon.
His eyes widened in shock as he exclaimed, "Mr. Gammon!"
Gammon appeared disheveled and weak as he pleaded, "Mr. Cross, these men suddenly came out of nowhere and captured me. Please save me." Before Nathan could say a word, the sound of hurried footsteps in the nearby forest filled the air.
"Quick!"
"Hurry up!"
"Come on! Let's surround this place!"
Colin, the Elite Eight, and the Alpha had arrived.
The heavily equipped Alpha soldiers formed a circle and pointed their guns at Goliath and his men.
The savage soldiers probably would have fired their shots earlier if they were not worried about catching Gammon and Nathan in the crossfire.
At that point, they could only surround the enemies and wait with bated breath.
Nathan noticed the Remdikian soldiers from the corner of his eyes. He then turned his attention to Goliath and asked, "Are you all werewolves too? Do you know your captive is the leader of this country? You'll all be dead if anything happens to him."
Hearing his words, Goliath turned and smiled at the restrained Gammon. "I apologize, Mr. Gammon. You're not our target. As long as you cooperate with us and ask your soldiers to stay put, we'll release you and leave right after Nathan and I settle our grudge. How about it?"
A furious Gammon glared at Goliath and spat, "Since you know who I am, you should be well aware of my modus operand!. I don't care who the heck you are. I could kill you all for crossing me."
Undeterred, Goliath shot back coldly, "Why don't you try infuriating me instead? I guarantee it will not work in your favor."
Alas, Gammon could only suppress his rage.
He was at the mercy of his captors, and he feared that they would end his life in a fit of rage.
Just then, Nathan piped up coolly,
"Your target is me, yes? Who sent you here? Ariarica?"
"That's not important. All you need to know is that you won't survive past this night," came Goliath's scathing reply. Nathan smiled and taunted, "If you're here to kill me, get on with it, then! Let go of Mr. Gammon and come for me straight!" Goliath sneered. "Do you take me for a fool? Once I release him, the soldiers lurking around this place will open fire on me."
Still cool as a cucumber, Nathan asked, "So what are you proposing? Exchange Mr. Gammon for me?"
Goliath shook his head and said, "Don't think you can trick me into releasing Gammon the Great! Why don't we have a duel instead? That's the most primitive way of settling our grudge. If I win, I will use Gammon as a hostage and release him once we escape safely. If you win, my companion will free Gammon immediately. How about that?" Frowning, Nathan asked, "Does that mean you'll release Mr. Gammon as long as I agree to a duel? Regardless of the outcome? What if you renege on our deal and refuse to release Mr.
Gammon when you lose?"
His words felt like a slap to Goliath's face.
Goliath fumed, "Us werewolves stand by our words! Questioning the integrity of our promises is a humiliation to our tribe!"
Nathan was stunned. Do werewolves have a mandate to honor their promises?
He glanced at Goliath and replied, "Fine. Since you're using the werewolves' reputation as a guarantee, I'll trust you this once. I agree to a duel! Come on!" With that, Nathan waved Goliath forward, challenging him to a fight.
