Salute To The General
Chapter 2742

Since Donovan had no idea who those three were, he refused to back down, as he wanted to impress Ava. "I'll pay a hundred and twenty million!" he said while raising his bidding paddle without any hesitation.

Morse frowned at Donovan in disdain before raising his bidding paddle as well. "Two hundred million!"

Oh my goodness'. Two hundred million?

Everyone in the crowd gasped in shock.

"Number 999 is offering two hundred million! Is there anyone else who would like to go even higher?" the auctioneer asked.

Everyone, including Ava, shifted their gaze back toward Donovan.

"Two hundred and ten million!" Donovan shouted through clenched teeth.

"Three hundred million!" Morse shouted back.

The crowd went into an uproar upon hearing that.

Even the auctioneer's voice was trembling as she asked, "T-Three hundred million from this gentleman over here... Would anyone like to raise the bid?"

Everyone glanced at Donovan and waited for him to respond.

Donovan's forehead was drenched in sweat and his hands were trembling as he contemplated raising the bid.

I may be rich, but my money isn't unlimited. It'll be quite hard for me to just withdraw a few hundred million like that! Besides, is it really worth shelling out that much money just to please a woman? "Hmph! What an incompetent piece of trash! I'm surprised he has the audacity to even compete against me!" Morse exclaimed in contempt when he saw the look on Donovan's face.

Donovan got so mad that he felt tempted to raise the bid again, but he kept himself from doing so in the end.

Because of his lack of financial capability, there was nothing he could do except lower his head in the face of Morse's insults.

Right when everyone thought the imperial jade seal would belong to Morse, Nathan raised his bidding paddle and said calmly, "One billion."

What? One billion?

Everyone in the crowd stared wide-eyed at Nathan in surprise and disbelief.

Donovan, too, was so shocked that he nearly had a heart attack on the spot.

I-I-Is this guy for real? Did he seriously just raise the bid from three hundred million to one billion? My goodness'. I've never seen anyone this wealthy!

That was when Donovan realized how foolish he was to even try to impress Ava by humiliating Nathan.

Catherine had a surprised look on her face, whereas Morse's was twisted with shock and rage as he glared at Nathan.

He clenched his teeth as he shouted, "One point one billion!"

Those words had barely left his mouth when Nathan said coldly, "Five point six billion! There are fifty-six ethnic groups in Eurasia. Every Eurasian wants to return that imperial jade seal to the country. I will offer five point six billion to acquire that imperial jade seal. If you think you've got what it takes to go against an entire nation, then go ahead and raise the bid."

Everyone in the crowd went crazy after hearing that.

Holy sh*t! This Eurasian guy is crazy! He actually raised the bid all the way to five point six billion! This is f*cking ridiculous! My entire family's fortune only adds up to a few billion. I'd go bankrupt if I were to raise the bid any further!

Morse was drenched in sweat and trembling all over from the thought of that.

Even so, he refused to admit defeat and was about to keep going.

"That's enough, Morse. You know full well who Mr. Cross really is. His wife is the head of the world's largest pharmaceutical company and has a net worth of hundreds of billions. You won't stand a chance against her even if you sell every single business and property that your family owns, so stop trying to compete with him. Just admit defeat and save yourself from further embarrassment," Catherine said coldly. Her words hit him like a bucket of cold water, snapping him out of his daze instantly.

Morse slumped weakly against his seat and glared at Nathan with a complicated look in his eyes.

Catherine is right... Even with my entire family's wealth combined, I won't even stand a chance against Nathan's wife. On top of that, Nathan is the freaking President of Eurasia! This is the first time I've failed so miserably... I have never ever felt so helpless and weak in my whole life! After what seemed like forever, the auctioneer finally regained her composure and slammed the hammer on the table. "Sold!"
