Salute To The General -
Chapter 2764
Inside the house was Quintin's office. It was exquisitely decorated, and every single piece of furniture was made of premium rosewood.
Whether it was the calligraphy items on the table, or the vases decorating the house, they were all antiques. It was obvious that Quintin was someone who loved to collect antiques.
As for Quintin himself, he was currently sitting on the seat behind the desk. Standing to each of his sides was an elderly man; one was dressed in a white robe, while the other was dressed in a black robe.
The two elderly men were Quintin's most capable marquis. They were also infamous cold-blooded killers who committed countless heinous crimes back when they were in Eurasia.
The two had a nickname, and they were known as the "Chaotic Duo."
Thinking that the world was their playground and that they had nothing to fear, the two got their nickname, for every place they went, chaos would follow.
From the moment Nathan stepped in, Quintin and the Chaotic Duo kept their gazes trained on him. At the same time, Nathan was giving Quintin a once-over as well.
Hmm... Quintin is quite different from the usual image I expect from a company's chairman. For starters, the guy lacks a certain suave temperament of an average chairman. He's burly, bald, and has no eyebrows. With his fleshy face, he looks rather vicious. Instead of a suit, he's dressed in Eurasia's traditional garb. But no matter what he wore, nothing could hide the vile aura coming off him.
Quintin looked at Nathan with interest. "So, you're Ambassador Knight's friend, and the true owner of the imperial jade seal, huh? I reckoned you're also the one who hired Robin Security to escort the jade seal back to Eurasia, am I right?"
Although Nathan was the guest, he was acting like the owner of the house instead. He pulled out a chair casually and sat down elegantly before whipping out a cigarette. With a smile on his face, he asked, "Since you know I'm the true owner of the jade seal, you must know who I am, right?
Quintin scrutinized Nathan for a moment and chuckled. "I'm sorry, but I have no idea who you are. Although my company has businesses all over the world, and I know countless powerful people, your face doesn't ring a bell."
Because Nathan had just assumed the post of Eurasia's president and the fact that all his information had been kept confidential back when he was still in the military, not many Eurasians knew who Nathan was, let alone a Eurasian who had become a citizen of another country.
As such, Nathan was not surprised to hear that Quintin had no idea who he was.
He smiled. "It's fine if you don't know who I am now, for I'm certain that after this, my face will be one you will never forget."
Quintin smirked. "I know you must be rich. Otherwise, you wouldn't have bought the imperial jade seal with five billion and six hundred million." Chuckling, he added, "But I know too many rich and powerful people. I'd reckoned that it won't take me long to forget a rich man like you." Nathan knew that Quintin probably took him as an average rich man with no authority. That was why the latter didn't take him seriously. Nathan smiled and said flatly, "Don't worry, I promise that you'll remember me from now on. In fact, you might even struggle to forget me.
Quintin's expression darkened, and he uttered coldly, "Mr. Cross, I can guess that you're here because of the imperial jade seal, but that's a contract signed between me and Ambassador Knight. This matter has nothing to do with you. In fact, even if something did happen, Ambassador Knight should be the one to see me, not you."
Nathan responded, "Well, Carlos is getting rather old now, and his capability is not what it used to be. I'm more efficient than he is, so I've come to talk to you instead."
Quintin sniggered. "You've come to talk? What's there to talk about?"
Nathan replied, "Thing is, we found that the jade seal was a counterfeit when we were going through customs."
Quintin muttered, "So what? I've already reported this matter to Ambassador Knight, and I even told him how to solve it. He could either take the counterfeit back with him, or he could sue our company. Robin Security will compensate him five hundred million in accordance with the guarantee agreement. I've already given Ambassador Knight two solutions to the problem, and you should be discussing with him which solution to choose. So why are you still here trying to talk to me?" Nathan replied blandly, "Well, that's because I don't like either of the solutions given, so I'm here to talk to you about a third option."
Quintin's expression turned cold, and he interjected, "Hold on, before you say anything else, I need to remind you that I only gave you two options. You can only choose from that two options. There will be no third option here."
Nathan smiled. "Unfortunately, I don't like it when someone tries to force me down a certain path. I'm a person who
likes to forge my own path."
