Salute To The General -
Chapter 3370 Are You Satisfied
Following those words, Nathan cast a cold glance at Blake's lifeless body on the ground. "Regarding this individual, given his service to the alliance, you can submit an application for a death gratuity on his behalf. Send the necessary paperwork to me, and I will grant
approval."
What?
Rawlinson scrunched up his face, but when faced with Nathan's icy gaze, he ultimately didn't have the courage to hold his gaze or confront Nathan any further. Bowing his head, he replied, "Yes, Commander Cross."
Nathan asked coldly, "Are you satisfied with the outcome?"
Rawlinson's forehead was drenched in sweat as he quietly said, "Yes."
Nathan said, "Speak up. I can't hear you."
Left with no choice, Rawlinson loudly repeated, "Yes!"
Nathan nodded. "Let's put an end to this matter then. All right, I'm not needed here anymore, so carry on with your matters."
Having made his statement, Nathan nonchalantly settled into the chair beside him, leisurely retrieving a cigarette and elegantly lighting it. His demeanor exuded an air of confidence and sophistication as if to convey the message, "Continue with the proceedings." Now, Rawlinson became even more embarrassed.
He had come on Wolfric's orders, intending to pressure Dido. He wanted to force Dido to disband the Wallerian armed forces, which had intricate ties with Nathan so that he could compel Dido to align with Ariarica and sever ties with Nathan.
However, with Nathan's imposing presence in the room, he found himself at a loss as to how to effectively intimidate Dido in her very presence.
Moreover, how can he possibly try to sway her to join his side when Nathan was around?
Upon seeing Nathan put Rawlinson in his place, Dido noticed that the once domineering Rawlinson had now become hesitant and stammering. She couldn't help but replace it amusing.
At the end of the day, Nathan was the only one who could resolve this matter swiftly and perfectly.
Breaking the silence at that moment, Dido spoke lightly, "Very well, this brief interruption has now concluded. Let's talk business. I wonder what brings Mr. Rawlinson here on behalf of Admiral Welz? Is there anything specific?"
Steeling himself, Rawlinson said,
"Admiral Welz has expressed his
าวน
hope that the nation of Wallera could accept the protection of Ariarica. With our protection, you can disband all your armed forces in Wallera. We, on behalf of our country, will station our troops here tooprovide you with protection. Naturally, the condition for this is that you must pay the military expenditure we'll request each year.
The truth was, Rawlinson was speaking in a much more tactful manner.
His original words were meant to be much harsher, with a much stronger hint of threat. However, after realizing that Nathan was present, he no longer dared to act recklessly. Upon hearing Rawlinson's words, Dido put on an icy expression.
She uttered, "Ha, I'm sorry, but I'm not accepting Admiral Welz's terms and proposal. Personally, I think that we, the people of Wallera, are fully capable of protecting ourselves. We neither need protection from
Ariarica nor do we intend to pay you exorbitant military expenditure. I do not like entrusting national defense to outsiders."
Upon hearing this, Rawlinson fumed inwardly.
Of course, he only dared to mull over these thoughts in his mind; he would never dare to say them out loud with Nathan around.
He simply darkened his expression
and said to Dido, "Queen Dido,
please consider this carefully. Think
thrice before you make your decision. I must remind you that Admiral Welz doesn't take kindly to people rejecting his terms, and there are few who can actually resist his conditions."
When Dido heard the threat, the expression on her pretty face turned frosty, and her attitude became even more resolute. "Then I'm afraid I'll have to embarrass Admiral Welz this time. Please go back and tell him that I reject his proposal and conditions." Upon hearing that, Rawlinson grimaced. He knew he was in for a tough time when he returned.
He initially wanted to drop a few nasty remarks, but Nathan calmly said, "Queen Dido has made herself quite clear, so you may leave now."
Rawlinson nodded. "Very well, I will be truthful when I report this back to Admiral Welz."
After saying that, he left in a huff, his subordinates in tow as they carried Blake's body.
