Salute To The General -
Chapter 3533 Confidential
Nathan had been waiting in the Curia hall for nearly half an hour.
Eugene IV finally arrived, albeit belatedly.
Eugene IV, accompanied by his entourage, quickly approached Nathan, his face flushed with embarrassment. "I'm sorry, Mr. Cross, for keeping you waiting," he said.
Nathan said with a smile, "I understand that you have a busy schedule, Pope Eugene."
Eugene IV looked utterly embarrassed.
Nathan smiled and reached out to shake hands with Eugene IV.
Both parties sat down.
Eugene IV suppressed his smirk, deliberately asking, "I've recently heard, Mr. Cross, that you've been ill and have taken leave to recuperate. Why have you suddenly come to see me?"
Nathan smiled and said, "I was planning to take a break for a while due to some health issues. But upon learning that the vampires are making a comeback, I hurried over to discuss our countermeasures with you, Pope Eugene."
Eugene IV glanced at Nathan, lifting his teacup, and said with a hint of sarcasm, "Mr. Cross, you really do seem to care about the vampires!"
Nathan chuckled lightly, "Our Earth is now not only facing threats from Gods in outerspace, but also dealing with the chaos caused by vampires within the Earth itself. We're beset with troubles both from within and without, how can I not be concerned?" Upon hearing Nathan mention the Gods, Eugene IV seemed a bit guilty, letting out a couple of forced laughs before changing the subject. "Mr. Cross," he asked, "what brings you here this time?"
Nathan said nonchalantly, "I wouldn't go as far as to give orders, but I do have a small suggestion. I wonder if you would be willing to hear it."
Eugene IV sat up straight, his face serious. "Mr. Cross, please feel free to speak."
Nathan spoke slowly. "The vampires were defeated by us last time. Now, the remnants of the vampires are making a comeback. While they should not be underestimated, there's no need for excessive panic. I believe that our greatest enemy is still the Gods from outerspace. The vampires might cause some disturbances, but the Gods could potentially lead to the extinction of us humans."
Eugene IV didn't dare to refute, but he also didn't want to agree. He hesitated and said, "Well, about that..."
Nathan discerned the intentions of Eugene IV and calmly suggested, "Therefore, I propose that we handle the affairs of the vampires with patience. If we can pacify them, we should avoid war. Otherwise, we humans will end up fighting the vampire, only to let the Gods benefit from our strife."
Eugene IV chuckled dryly. "Mr.
Cross, something doesn't feel right.
The threat of the vampires is imminent, while the threat of the Gods you speak of, there's not even a hint of it. Perhaps the Gods never intended to wage war against our Earth in the first place. It's just us humans, worrying over nothing. I firmly believe that the threat of the Gods is elusive and intangible, while the threat of the vampires is real and imminent. We must wage a full-scale war against the vampires and annihilate them."
Nathan didn't rush to retort. Instead, he turned his gaze towards Colin at his side.
Understanding Colin's intentions, he immediately took out a thick stack of documents and respectfully placed them on the coffee table in front of Eugene IV. Eugene IV was taken aback. "What is this?"
Nathan calmly explained, "This is the recent classified document from the Earth Alliance space squad. This top-secret document is known only to a select few beyond the Earth Alliance's space squad. Only L Wolfric, Leopold, and a few other War Gods from the world's
superpowers are privy to this utmost secret."
Eugene IV looked puzzled. "If this is such an important confidential document, Mr. Cross, what are you doing?"
Nathan said with a smile, "I am the commander-in-Chief of Earth Alliance. I believe you, Pope Eugene, are suitable to view this confidential document. Moreover, I have the authority to grant you access. It's completely within the rules, so there's no need for you to worry." Eugene IV was genuinely curious about what was written in the confidential files of the Earth Alliance space squad.
With Nathan's permission, he no longer hesitated. He immediately picked up the stack of documents on the table and began to read them at a glance.
As he continued to look, he began to furrow his brow.
In the end, he became deeply furrowed with worry.
