Sasha Swift -
Chapter 4 The Arcade
Zane
The first human girl I replace attractive and she happens to be the notorious vampire killer known as Swift, that's just my luck. I'm surprised she didn't serve me my balls on a silver platter. Vampire hunters pop up every so often but they fail in comparison to her.
They tell horror stories about the infamous Swift. A vampire killer who is more like a Grim Reaper. He's known for punishing those who commit a crime. But it was chalked up to be a myth. Nobody lives long enough to know if he's real or not.
But he's real and isn't a man or monster. Swift is a beautiful human with golden hair like the sun and green emerald eyes and when her hand touched mine it felt like my heart had been shocked back to life. I have no idea what it means but I've been attracted to her since I entered the human bar.
Her scent caught my attention first. Unlike other humans, she smelled almost undescribable like sunshine and lavender. I'm not even sure how the sun smells but if it smells like her I'll happily bask in it not caring if I burn. I want her so badly, but I can't have her so I have to ignore my urge to claim her mouth with mine and explore her amazing body with my tongue.
A vampire and human vampire hunter would never work
We're meeting up today at an arcade in South Brunswick. I have a connection here who is a hacker. He's human but doesn't care I'm a vampire. He's a high-school stoner kid and nobody would believe anything he said anyway. Dougie is as dumb as rocks but he's a genius when it comes to technology.
I'm waiting inside the arcade where Dougie works. We're leaning against the ski ball machines. Dougie is yammering on about some prank he pulled at school, but I stop paying attention when she walks in.
Today she has a black and yellow jumpsuit on. Her cleavage is hidden just enough to make you want to see more. Her long legs are covered but all I can imagine are them wrapped around me. Her hair bounces when she walks and she looks like an angel.
A deadly angel.
All heads turn toward her as she walks yet she doesn't even notice all the guys drooling over her. I swallow hard and hope I don't look as nervous as I feel. Dougie notices I'm distracted and turns to face Swift. His jaw drops but he quickly closes it as she approaches.
"Is this him?" Swift asks looking Dougie up and down as her lips curl up. She's unimpressed but she hasn't seen his work yet.
"Well hello, doll face what's your name?" Dougie winks at her and looks her up and down like she's a piece of meat.
I start to interject but Swift beats me to it. She grabs the back of his head and knocks his face into the arcade game. She lets go and folds her arms across her chest with a mean scowl on her face.
"Don't call me doll face! Zane, I thought you said this guy was a professional." She shouts and I'm speechless.
Dougie looks at me rubbing his bruising face. "Damn it Zane this girl is vicious. You couldn't give me a warning first."
I chuckle. "Sorry mate but I don't think she likes being complimented. Let's just get down to business aye." I slap his back and he winces.
Dougie starts walking toward the back and I follow behind. Swift walks beside me and keeps glancing everywhere. I assume she doesn't trust us and where we are taking her. She seems like the type to always be alert. I admire that quality because I'm the same.
We follow Dougie into a small office. He quickly takes a seat behind the computer. The room doesn't have much in here. Desk, computer, filing cabinets, and two chairs. Neither I nor Swift sits down. We both want to be ready for the news we're waiting for.
Dougie continues tapping away at his keyboard. Swift lets out a sigh and runs her hand through her long blonde hair. "How long is this going to take? I thought you said this guy was the best," she complains.
"I didn't say he was the best," I mutter. Swift rolls her eyes and Dougie looks insulted.
"I.am.the.best and I didn't replace what you wanted exactly but I found something else that should help."
My interest is peaked. "Well, what is it, mate?" Dougie starts typing away again instead of answering me.
"I couldn't replace anything on Aquarius. But I found some people who work for him. Call themselves the Trouble Trio."
"The Trouble Trio?" Swift scoffs. "What kind of name is that?"
I scoff back. "What kind of name is Swift?" Her eyes narrow and if she wasn't so dangerous I would be turned on by the rage burning inside her.
She takes a step toward me and pokes my chest. "I'm going to kill you slowly vampire." I grab her finger and playfully nip it. She pulls away fast.
"It's Zane sweetheart. A name you will be moaning very soon." The words fall out of my mouth like vomit. I have no idea why I'm flirting with her. She's a human, completely off-limits.
We're in an intense stare-off when Dougie coughs. We both snap our heads toward him. "Okay, lovebirds. I'm giving you the address of a club they seem to brag about on social media. But be alarmed it's a vampire bar." Dougie holds up a piece of paper with the address on it. Swift quickly swipes it from him and shoves it into one of her pockets.
"Thanks umm, what's your name again? Oh well doesn't matter. Let's go Zane we have vampires to kill." She smiles and practically skips out of the room. Her excitement to kill my kind is alarming, but I ignore it.
I say goodbye to Dougie and quickly make my way out of the arcade. Sasha is outside leaning against a red 1969 Chevy Camaro convertible. The roof is down and you can see the slick leather interior, It's a beautiful car. She has good taste for a human. I also love classic cars.
"So I'll replace the vamps, interrogate them, kill them, and let you know what I replace." She says then turns around in a hurry and I put my hand on her shoulder stopping her.
"No way Swift we're doing this together. I'm coming with you. It's a vampire bar it could be dangerous." I warn her and she laughs making me narrow my eyes at her.
"I'm dangerous but if you want to tag along then the more the merrier. Just don't get any of your vampire germs all over my baby." She scolds then walks around and gets into the driver's seat.
I jump over the door and land in the passenger seat. "To a fun road trip between new friends, let's roll!" I hit the dash playfully and Swift smiles and starts the car.
Little did I know how crazy this road trip would actually be.
