Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 29: How’d you get in?

Alpha Knox POV

I was in my office waiting for the elders with jag and Jo, but I couldn’t do anything but look out the window.

Of course my office faces the training grounds and I had a perfect view of Tatiana and Timothy wrestling. The jealously was boiling inside of me.

Jag came over and stood beside me to see what I was looking at. When he followed my gaze, his shoulders instantly dropped.

“Sorry, Knox. I really wasn’t think…” He started, but I cut him off.

“It’s fine. What’s done is done.” I said trying not to sound irritated. I know he only had good intentions and didn’t even realize what he had done. I would never hold it against him, but right now was not the time to talk about it.

“Holy s**t, she just owned him.” Jo exclaimed, while coming to watch the show with us.

It was true, Tatiana had just thrown Timothy over her shoulder and he fell to the ground with a heavy thud. That definitely would of hurt. I couldn’t help but feel proud of my mate, she wasn’t just gorgeous and smart, but she was strong too.

“Oh man, I’m surprise you’re ok with that. That’s a pretty compromising position they’re in.” Jo said with a chuckle, completely oblivious to my internal struggles. Tatiana and Timothy were now rolling around on the ground, holding on to each other’s legs. It was definitely a compromising position, since their faces were hovering around each other’s crotch area.

I glared at Jag who paled at the sight.

“Sorry…” He said again.

“Don’t.” I replied, shushing him with my finger and walking away. I couldn’t watch anymore, it was driving me and my wolf mad.

“Hey, at least your mate’s here.” Jo said, before letting out a heavy sigh. He was right, I guess this could be a lot worse.

“Sorry buddy, you’re right.” I replied sincerely. I knew how much Jo had been struggling lately. He missed Max and he has been struggling to keep his wolf under control. I should of been more thoughtful.

“It’s all good. She’ll be back here soon enough.” He said confidently. I hope he’s right. He’s one of my best friends and I really want to see him happy.

I was brought out of my thoughts, when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I announced.

The door opened and three of the elders from my pack walked in, Gerry, Brett and Martin. Brett was also part of the werewolf council. The elders job was to provide the Alpha with suggestions and guidance regarding pack issues.

The werewolf council on the other hand, can over throw an Alpha’s decision. They are like the high court and deal with matters that can’t be dealt with internally. They will also act as the judge if an Alpha was to commit a crime.

I was a little surprised to see Brett present. Since he’s part of the werewolf council, he doesn’t reside on our territory anymore.

“Good morning, Gentlemen.” Brett greeted with a nod.

“Good morning. Please, take a seat.” I replied and motioned to the three chairs across from my desk. Jo and Jag sat on the couch that was off to the side.

“Thank you, Alpha.” Martin said, as they all sat down.

“Why did you ask for this meeting?” I asked, getting straight to the point.

“It has been brought to our attention, that you’re having an Alpha meeting next week. We think this is a great idea, but we’ve also been inform that you plan on excluding certain Alphas.” Brett explained and I could see the disapproval in his eyes.

I was already getting annoyed with this meeting. As soon as he spoke, I knew this was my father’s doing. Of course my father went straight to the elders after my meeting with him. I should be surprised that he would do such a thing, but I’m not. This is exactly what my father does when he doesn’t get his way.

“That’s correct. I will not be inviting enemies onto my territory that wish to destroy me.” I replied firmly.

“I can understand that, Alpha. That’s why we’ve come to suggest that the meeting be held on neutral land. We could host the meeting at one of the hotels in the human City. That way, no one will cause any problems and no one is excluded.” This time Gerry spoke up.

“You exclude Alphas, it could start a war. The council will not allow that.” Brett added in a stern tone.

My b***d was boiling, I really didn’t want to be anywhere near either of those two. But the elders weren’t really giving me a way out. I really wish I hadn’t agreed to this meeting at all now.

“Fine.” I sighed in defeat.

“But I expect that everyone attended be reminded of the consequences of causing trouble in the human City.” I added, giving them each a pointed look.

“Of course, Alpha. I will be contacting all the leaders personally and I’ll make sure everyone is on their best behaviour.” Brett assured me.

“Was there anything else?” I asked. I really just wanted this meeting to be over. They had already put a damper on my mood.

“One more thing, Alpha.” Gerry said and paused, making sure he had my attention.

“We believe the pack needs a Luna. It’s been five years and you still haven’t found your fated mate, therefor, we think you should start considering choosing a chosen mate.” Gerry explained and when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I was wrong.

Now I was fuming, this is like the conversation I had with my father all over again. I wanted to blurt out that I had found my mate, but knew Tatiana and Chloe weren’t ready for that, so I kept my mouth shut.

“Don’t worry, I’m working on it. I will have a Luna for the pack soon.” I replied, trying to maintain a calm and professional tone.

“That’s good to hear.” Gerry replied with a satisfied smile.

“We won’t waste anymore of your time, Alpha. Thank you for meeting with us.” Martin said, while all three of them stood up.

“It was my pleasure. We will be in touch.” I replied, before shaking their hands. Jo and Jag did the same.

Once the elders were gone, I flopped back into my chair and let out a heavy sigh.

“Well s**t, now what?” Jo asked, while sitting across from me.

“I don’t trust Alpha Alec or Alpha Cameron. I want extra patrol scheduled, while we are away at this meeting. I also want a few warriors tactical positioned around the hotel in the event they try anything.” I replied with a thoughtful frown.

“What about Tatiana? Are you going to bring her?” Jag asked, looking concerned.

“No. She’ll be staying here. Jo, you’ll be staying behind to watch over her and the pack, while Jag and I attend the meeting.” I replied and Jag nodded.

“Wait a second. Why am I staying behind? You heard them, Alpha Alec is going to be invited. That’s Max’s old pack. I want to destroy him.” Jo said angrily.

“That’s exactly why you’re staying here. I can’t have you going off on anyone.” I replied with a pointed look. I heard Jo curse under his breath, but he knew better then to argue.

“Are you going to be ok around Alpha Cameron?” Jag asked, sounding concerned.

“I don’t have a choice. I will ignore him to the best of my abilities.” I replied, but I knew he was right to be concerned. Alpha Cameron was Chloe’s first mate and although she hasn’t told me what happened, I know it couldn’t of been good.

“I need to replace my mate, my wolf is losing it.” I said with a sigh, while standing from my chair.

“Ya, I need to go for a run.” Jo replied, looking just as troubled as I was.

“I guess I’ll just go and hangout by myself.” Jag mumbled to himself, as Jo and I left the room.

Well that meeting was not what I was expecting and I wonder how Tatiana is going to feel about me seeing her first mate.

Jo POV

I had already been on edge lately, since I haven’t seen Max in what feels like ages. That meeting only made my mood worse. I don’t know if Alpha Alec did anything to my mate, but I wouldn’t doubt it. He’s a total prick and I wish I Knox would let me go to the meeting, so that I could kill the mother fucker.

I reached the tree line in no time and quickly stripped out of my clothes and took off at a full sprint in the woods. I let my wolf, Chester take control. He needed to blow off steam just as much as I did.

I wasn’t paying attention to where he was going, until I saw a familiar cabin come into view. That’s when I realized that he had left our territory and took me to Betty and Tom’s.

‘What the hell Chester, we can’t just leave the territory without telling Knox.’ I scolded him in my head.

‘I have to see her.’ He replied and I couldn’t even be mad at that. I really wanted to see her too.

“Are you here to drop off your picture?” Betty teased, as I shifted and walked towards the cabin. I had tied a pair of shorts around my leg, so I quickly slipped them on.

“Have you seen Max?” I asked in a serious tone, completely ignoring her teasing. It didn’t happen often, but right now, I wasn’t in the mood to joke around.

“No, she hasn’t been around for a while. That’s normal though, her visits are sporadic.” She replied.

“Did something happen? Is Tatiana ok?” She asked, now sounding concerned.

“No, nothing happened. Tatiana is fine. I just really miss her.” I said truthfully and I saw Betty sigh in relief, before a flicker of pity flashed in her eyes.

“If it makes you feel any better, she’s been moody lately and in all the years I’ve know Max, it’s a rare occurrence.” She explained and I couldn’t help but smile, her words really did make me feel better. Not because I want Max to be in a bad mood, but that the bond was affecting her even though her wolf was gone.

“That does help. Thanks, Ol’ Bitter Betty.” I replied.

“Ol’ Bitter Betty?” She questioned.

“Ya, Knox and I came up with it after our last visit. It’s good, right?” I replied with a smirk. It was my turn to tease her. She had managed to make me feel a little better, so why not bicker with her while I wait for my mate.

“You two are unbelievable.” She said, while shaking her head in disbelief. I could hear the amusement in her voice, so I knew she wasn’t offended. That’s what I liked about her. She could take the jokes, as much as she dished them out.

Tom came out and joined our chat. I stayed for a couple of hours, hoping that Max would show up, but she never did.

I was extremely disappointed, but knew I needed to get back home. I said my goodbyes, before heading back.

Once I reached the pack house, I went straight to my room. I still felt crappy, but seeing Betty and Tom actually lifted my spirits a bit, they remind me of my grandparents. I really wish I could of seen Max though, I really miss her.

I laid in bed and stared at the ceiling. It took me a while, but I eventually fell asleep.

I don’t know how long I had been asleep for, when I felt the bed dip next to me and woke up. It took me a few seconds to open my eyes, but when I did, I came nose to nose with a wolf that was now standing over me, caging me in.

I nearly pooped my pants. I was not expecting that when I opened my eyes. The sight was enough to quickly snap me out of my sleepy haze. The wolf was growing and drooling on my face.

It only took one sniff for me to recognize who it was. It was Max’s wolf, she was both terrifying and stunning. Her fur was two toned, black at the base and dark brown at the tips. I laid perfectly still, not confident if she was going to rip my throat out, or hump my leg.

“Why don’t you give Max control?” I suggested, earning me a deep growl.

“Ok, no Max.” I quickly replied.

“How’d you get in?” I asked and she quickly glanced at my balcony, before returning her focus to my face. My room was on the first floor, and I usually left my balcony door open at night to let in some fresh air.

“You crossed our border without patrol seeing you?” I questioned, but more to myself. That’s impressive, our warriors are good and it’s extremely rare for anything to cross undetected. I’m one of the first to be notified when there’s a breach and I didn’t get anything notifications, so I bet no one saw her.

“Can I sit up?” I asked, my face now covered in her drool.

She growled, but backup slight, still caging my legs in. I took that as I yes and slowly sat up, leaning my back against the headboard.

“I wish I knew your name, my wolf is excited to meet you.” I said and saw her tail wage excitedly for a second, before returning to her growly self.

“Can I touch you?” I asked, with my hands up in front of me, so that she didn’t feel threatened.

She hesitated for a second, but eventually moved her head closer to my hand. I took that as her granting me permission and slowly moved my hand towards the top of her head and ran my fingers through her soft fur. She practically purred at the action and instantly relaxed. She laid down on my lap, while I continued to run my fingers through her fur.

I wonder when Max got her wolf back? I wonder if it’s because of me? A mischievous smile spread across my face at the thought. I can’t wait to talk to Max and rub in how irresistible I am to her wolf. It’s going to piss her off and I love it.
