Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 47: Alpha Meeting part 1

Knox POV

I woke up late morning with Chloe still curled up in my arms asleep. Today was the Alpha meeting and I was dreading it. I wish I had never agreed to it in the first place. The only person I really wanted to speak with was Alpha Victor and I had already done that.

I was nervous about leaving Chloe behind, but at the same time, I didn’t want her anywhere near Cameron. She wanted to come with me, but I shut that idea down pretty quickly. It’s going to be bad enough for me to stay in control, I know it would be even worse for her.

She’s been having nightmares every since Betty and Tom arrived and it sometimes takes hours before she can get back to sleep. I knew the only way those nightmares would ever stop was if she got her revenge on Cameron. I really hope I can help her get it.

I gently rolled Chloe out of my arms and made my way into the bathroom. I felt her stir a little, but she didn’t wake up.

I had a quick shower before grabbing a white towel and wrapping it around my waist.

I brushed my teeth before walking back into the bedroom. Chloe was now awake and sitting up on the bed. I watched her eyes roam over my bare chest with an unmistakable hunger within them.

“Stop that.” I growled.

“Stop what?” She asked innocently, while biting her lower l*p.

“That.” I replied, while pointing my finger at her l*p.

“Sorry.” She said, as a mischievous smile spread across her face.

“You little vixen, no you’re not.” I said huskily, while stalking towards her.

I heard a light giggle leave her lips as I reached the edge of the bed. It made me smile, she had been so stressed the past few days that it was nice to hear her being playful again. I wish I could make her smile like that everyday.

I climb on top of her and settled between her thighs, before lowering my lips to hers. My c**k was already hard just thinking about my sexy little mate laying beneath me. Her body molded to mine perfectly and I couldn’t wait to make her mine.

“You have no idea what you do to me.” I g*****d into her mouth, while rubbing my e******n against her core. I was wishing for my towel and her pyjama shorts to magically disappear, but sadly they didn’t.

“Mmmmm…” She m****d, before wrapping her legs around my waist in an attempt to pull me closer.

“I don’t want to go.” I whined, while leaving a trail of wet k****s along her jaw and neck. I spent a few extra minutes on the spot where I desperately wanted to leave my mark.

“Don’t.” She said breathlessly, while running her fingers through my wet hair and tugging on it teasingly.

I cursed under my breath when I received a mind-link.

‘Where are you? Everyone’s ready to go, we’re waiting out front for you.’ Jag asked through the link.

‘I really dislike you sometimes.’ I replied with a frustrated sigh.

‘Huhhh? What did I do?’ He asked sounding completely clueless.

‘Never mind, I’ll be down in 10.’ I replied, before cutting the link.

“What’s wrong?” Chloe asked against my neck, where she was peppering me with k****s. I felt her sucking and nipping along my collarbone and it caused another wave of arousal to rush through me.

“I have to go.” I g*****d.

“You don’t HAVE to do anything.” She replied, while her hands roamed down my chest and over my abs.

“f**k, now I need another shower, a cold one.” I grumbled and heard her chuckle.

I begrudgingly got off the bed and made my way into the bathroom. I could hear her amused laughter while I slipped into the cold stream of water.

This was going to be a shitty day, at least I got to see my beautiful mate smiling before I had to leave.

Once I was done in the shower, I went into the walk-in closet and got dressed in a black suit with a dark grey button up shirt.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you?” She asked, as she walked in front and started to button up my shirt.

“No Chloe, you’re not coming.” I replied sternly. She let out a sigh, but didn’t argue.

“It’s going to be a long day so don’t wait up for me. There’s a cocktail party after the meeting and I don’t know what time I’ll be home. I plan on sneaking out as soon as I can.” I said, while looking down at her. She nodded, but had a concerned frown on her face.

“Don’t stress my love, nothing will happen. Cameron won’t try anything while we’re in the City.” I reassured her.

“Easier said than done.” She scoffed.

“I’ll have my phone with me, call or text me anytime.” I told her and she nodded.

“I have to go.” I said with a heavy sigh.

“Wait, I have something for you.” She said and rushed into the closet. She was only in there for a minute before she came back out holding something in her hand.

“What is it?” I asked with a curious frown.

“It’s a key chain with a locket. I know this meeting isn’t going to be easy for you, so I thought this might help.” She said with a blush, while holding up the locket so that I could see it.

It was a silver circle with a tribal pattern on the front. In between the pattern you could see into the locket. Something red inside the locket caught my attention. I took it from her hand so that I could have a closer look.

“I filled it with hair. If you get overwhelmed, I thought my scent might help.” She said shyly. I immediately brought the locket to my nose and inhale deeply. Sure enough, all I could smell was her intoxicating scent.

“This is the best gift anyone has ever given me.” I said truthfully, while still holding the locket to my nose. She let out a soft chuckle, when I refused to stop smelling it.

“Thank you.” I added, before leaning down and kissing her.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and deepened the k**s. I could sense so many emotions coming off her in waves, the main ones being fear and concern. I knew there was nothing I could say or do that would lessen her nerves. I just needed to get back to her as quickly as possible tonight.

“Be safe.” She replied, when she finally pulled away from the k**s.

“Always. I love you.” I said and kissed her forehead, before leaving the room.

I made my way out of the pack house and found Jag, Jo and 4 warriors waiting out front.

“You sure you don’t want me to come?“ Jo asked, but it was more of a plea. I knew he desperately wanted to come, but given Max’s history with Alpha Alec’s pack, I didn’t want to risk it. Jo can definitely be hotheaded at times and the last thing I needed was for him to shift in front of humans and attack someone.

“No, I need someone to watch over things here while I’m gone and to be completely honest, I don’t trust you around Alec.” I replied truthfully and heard a frustrated sigh leave his lips.

“It’s probably a smart call, but I’m still disappointed.” He grumbled.

“Make sure to keep your phone on you at all times. Parker and Preston’s guys will be right outside the border. If anything happens they’ll be calling you.” I instructed.

“I will.” He replied with a nod.

Jag and I got into one of the SUV’s that was idling in the driveway, while the warriors climbed into the second one.

“Call me if you even get a whiff of something suspicious.” I ordered.

“Got it.” He replied, before Jag started driving away.

My stress level was through the roof. I was more worried about my pack and Chloe, than I was about the meeting. That’s why I doubled patrol for the night and even had a few extra warriors standing guard around the pack house.

“You ready for this?“ Jag asked and the concern was clear in his tone.

“No, but it’s happening anyway.” I replied with a sigh.

The rest of the drive was quiet, I was mentally prepare as best I could and trying to calm my wolf down who was already agitated.

We finally stopped in front of the Hilton Hotel and got out of the vehicle. Jag handed the keys to the valet attendant, before we made our way inside.

We arrived an hour before the meeting was set to begin. Since we were technically the hosting pack, we would be greeting the other Alphas at the front door upon their arrival.

We had reserved the conference room for the meeting and the restaurant for dinner and drinks afterwards. The meeting would only be for the Alphas and high ranking members, while the dinner was for everyone who accompanied them.

We headed to the conference room and dropped off our bags before returning to the front doors.

I pulled the locket out of my pocket and inhaled deeply. I noticed Jag looking at me strangely from the corner of my eye, but I ignored him. This locket was the only thing that was going to keep me sane throughout this meeting.

The first people to arrive were members of the council. They were mostly in attendance to keep the peace. The hotel was full of humans who were unaware that werewolves existed, we needed to make sure it stayed that way. Everyone had been warned and if anyone was to create problems there would be consequences.

After 15 minutes some the Alphas started to arrive. They each were accompanied by either their Beta or Gamma, as well as a couple of warriors for security. A couple of them brought their mates and children as well. The warriors and families would remain in the restaurant during the meeting and we would join them afterwards.

Eventually, Alpha Victor, his son and Beta showed up. They all shook my hand and seemed genuinely pleased to see me. He had brought the same amount of warriors as I did.

“Is Chloe here?” Xander asked curiously. His question caught me off guard, why would he care if Chloe came with me?

“No, she stayed at the pack house.” I replied.

“I hope you increase your border patrol.” Victor pipped up, only adding to my curiosity. Why were they so concerned about my border patrol all of a sudden?

“Of course I did.” I replied, trying not sound annoyed. I knew how to take care of my pack, they didn’t need to worry about that.

“Good.” Xander added, before him and his father headed towards the conference room.

Everyone had arrived except for Alpha Cameron and Alpha Alec and I was starting to get worried. What if they don’t show up and instead attack my pack tonight while I’m not there.

Luckily my thoughts were interrupted when four black SUV’s pulled up in a convoy. I let out a relieved sigh when Alpha Cameron got out of one vehicle and Alpha Alec out of another. Don’t get me wrong, usually I wouldn’t want to be anywhere where near these assholes. But tonight, I wanted them close by.

I slipped my hand in my pocket and gripped the locket Chloe gave me. They weren’t even inside yet and I was already fighting my wolf for control.

Alpha Alec and Alpha Cameron walked into the hotel together, accompanied by their Betas and a large group of warriors.

“Alpha Knox, what a pleasure.” Alpha Cameron taunted, with a smirk plastered on his face. He extended his hand, but I didn’t take it. I might not kill him tonight, but that didn’t mean I was going to be friendly either.

“Alpha Alec, Alpha Cameron, the meeting is in the conference room on the second floor. Your warriors can wait in the restaurant until the meeting is over.” I instructed them in a stern voice.

“Perfect, we will see you in the meeting, we have so much to discuss.” Alpha Alec was the one to reply this time. He seemed overly excited for some reason and it only infuriated me more. f**k, this was going to be a tough meeting to get through. My wolf was already clawing in my head just wanting to be let loose.

Jag and I stayed by the front doors for a few extra minutes, so that I could calm myself down. I brought the locket to my nose and inhaled my mates scent. I could see the concern in Jag’s face as I did it.

“You going to be ok in there?” He asked with a frown.

“I have to be.” I replied.

“If I notice you losing it, I’ll suggest you go for a walk. Please don’t kill me if I do.” He said with a nervous chuckle.

“I won’t.” I replied with my own light chuckle.

“Let’s go get this over with.” I added with a sigh, before we headed for the conference room.

As soon as we walked in, everyone turned their attention to us and the room fell silent. There were 10 Alphas in the room and they each had a ranked member with them. The three councilmen sat off to the side.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming. This meeting will be a round table discussion, where we can address common problems and pack business. After the meeting, there will be dinner and drinks available in the restaurant.” I announced and paused before continuing.

“Who would like to begin?” I asked.

“I would.” Alpha Alec pipped up. I cringed when he did, of course one of those two idiots would be the first to speak.

“The floor’s all yours.” I gritted out and watched him stand from his chair.

“I would like to discuss the death of my previous Beta, Seth Bennett, his murderer still hasn’t been caught.” He started, while his eyes remained locked with mine.

My b***d instantly started to boil. I knew straight away this was about Max and I wasn’t going to like it. It’s a good thing I didn’t bring Jo, he would have already shifted.
