Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 74: New evidence
*TRIGGER WARNING* This chapter mentions previous s****l and physical abuse. It’s vague and doesn’t go into great detail, but some readers may appreciate a warning.
Chloe POV
“Vincent? How did you get in here? This is a private meeting.” Troy stated, sounding both shocked and annoyed with my father’s presence.
“What is the meaning of this?” Alec asked angrily.
“You, sit down and shut up. It’s time for the adults to have a conversation.” My father said, while pointing his finger at Alec. Alec seemed completed shocked by my father’s blatant disrespect.
“Guards, get in here!” Zeus shouted.
“Mmmmm… If you’re looking for your warriors that were in the hall, they aren’t really in a position to help right now.” My father said calmly, but with a slight edge of amusement in his tone.
“What did you do to them?” Troy asked with a concerned frown on his face.
“They’ll be fine, they’re just taking a little nap right now. In a few hours they will be good as new.” My father replied.
“You drugged our warriors? You realize we can lock you up for that, right?” Troy stated.
“You wouldn’t dare, I’ve got enough s**t on you old bastards to bring this whole council down.” My father chuckled and I noticed a couple of the elders had nervous expressions on their faces. I wonder what my father had on them?
“Are you threatening us?” Zeus asked, sounding irritated with my fathers presence.
“No, that’s not a threat but a promise. I dare you to call my bluff.” My father challenged and I watched Zeus gulp nervously.
“What do you want, Vincent? We have a very important meeting going on right now.” Brett asked.
“Awwww… I’m glad you asked. I’m here to provide evidence in this matter being discussed today.” My father replied.
“It’s too late, they’ve already reached a verdict.” Alec gritted out. He looked both annoyed and angry with my father’s presence.
“Didn’t I tell you to sit down and shut up?” My father asked as he glared at Alec. Alec looked beyond pissed, but to everyone’s surprise he didn’t argue any further.
“The investigation is complete. Our verdict is final.” Troy stated firmly.
“The hell it is. You either accept the new evidence or I’ll expose all your deepest, darkest secrets, gentlemen. Choose wisely.” My father replied with a casual shoulder shrug.
I frowned in confusion, what could he possibly have for evidence in Max’s case? He hasn’t left his room in over two years. How would he know anything?
“I’m curious about this so called evidence, therefore, I’m in favour of hearing it.” Brett said.
“Me too.” Colin and Tanner added in unison.
“Perfect, the majority of the council is in favour so we will allow you to present your so called evidence. I want to make sure you understand there’s no guarantee this will change the verdict.” Brett added.
“Oh, it will.” Was all my father replied, before turning around and leaving the meeting room.
“This is joke. You guys are allowing that deranged man to intervene in this meeting?” Alec seethed.
“If there’s nothing to hide, why are you so concerned about this new evidence?“ Brett asked curiously, but you could tell by his tone that he wasn’t a fan of Alec. I also got the impression that Brett was hoping my father’s evidence would be of value.
“Whatever evidence he has, I’m sure it’s made up.” Alec scoffed.
“We’ll see, I guess.” Brett replied.
A few minutes later, my father came back into the room followed by Beta Ron and his mate, Liane. My eyebrows furrowed together. What would they have to do with this case? Liane looked like a nervous mess and Ron looked both concerned and anxious. He was holding onto his mates hand like it was his lifeline.
I glanced over at Alec who’s eyes widened for a brief second before he quickly recompensed himself.
“What the f**k is going on here?“ Alec spat out angrily.
“Well Alec. I don’t really think I need to introduce you to Liane since you already know her. Oh sorry, I mean Lilly. She was part of your pack until a couple years ago, wasn’t she?” My father asked casually. Lilly? Why did that name sound so familiar?
“She’s dead, she was attacked by rogues.” Alec stated. He didn’t even acknowledge the fact that my father wasn’t addressing him by his title. A clear sign of disrespect and I knew my father was doing it on purpose. Was it bad that I had the urge to cheer him on? I’ve only known my father for a short time, but he continued to impress me every single day.
“Does she look dead to you? And when you said she was attacked by rogues, what you really meant to say, was that she was attacked by your warriors after you ordered them to kill her.” My father replied and his voice was dangerously calm.
“I did no such thing.” Alec argued.
“We’ll see about that.” Vincent replied.
“That’s it, I’m not sticking around to hear anymore more lies.” Alec stated as he started to make his way towards the door, his Beta following close behind.
“You’re not going anywhere. Have a seat.” Brett commanded. The warriors that were still standing in front of us had moved towards the door where Alec was now standing.
“How can you even entertain that lunatic?” Alec asked angrily.
“Sit down, Alpha Alec. Let’s hear what evidence they have.” Tanner was the one to speak up this time. Alec didn’t seem happy about it, but he stopped arguing and made his way back to his seat.
“Now, how about you present that evidence?” Brett asked curiously.
“Absolutely, Lilly was part of Alec’s pack. She has evidence to prove that Max’s claims of physical and s****l abuse from her first mate, Seth, are valid.” My father stated and I saw that most the councilmen had curious expressions on their faces. All except for Troy and Zeus, who still seemed irritated by my father’s presence.

All except for Troy and Zeus, who still seemed irritated by my father’s presence.
“Lilly, can you tell us everything you know regarding this matter?” Brett asked.
“Yes Sir. I was part of Alpha Alec’s pack years ago. Seth didn’t have a mate at the time, but he started to show interest in me. He was friendly at first and even charming. We started dating and it didn’t take long before the physical and s****l abuse started. Max wasn’t lying about the abuse, I know it’s true because he did the same thing to me.” She replied with a shaky voice. Ron wrapped his arms around her shoulders in a comforting manner. I could tell how nervous she was by the way her body shook.
All of a sudden, everything clicked in my brain. Betty and Tom were from Alec’s pack. Their daughter was named Lilly. Betty had told me that one of the ranked members started showing interest in Lilly before she was supposedly killed. This was their daughter! How was this possible? Had she been hiding in Victor’s pack all this time? Oh my goddess, how will Betty and Tom react when they replace out she was still alive?
“That’s all great, but without evidence to support your claim you could be making it all up.” Troy argued.
“I knew no one would believe me when the abuse started, that’s why I never told anyone. Plus, Seth threatened to kill my loved ones if I did say anything.” She started to replied, but trailed off when she mentioned her loved one. She had a sad expression on her face.
“One day he took the abuse to a whole new level and I honestly thought he was going to kill me. That’s when I decided to do something. I setup a video recorder in his room and everything that sick bastard did to me is on this memory card.” She replied and held up a small black memory card. Alec looked even more nervous as he stared at the small item in her hand. Whatever was on that card, he knew wasn’t going to do him any good.
“Let me help get this setup.” My father offered, before taking the memory card from Lilly and making his way over to the television in the corner of the room. He grabbed the camera that was sitting on a table and inserted the memory card before plugging the camera into the television.
I was actually surprised at how quiet the council had gotten. It was clear they weren’t expecting such hard, concrete evidence.
“Gentlemen, are you ready?” Vincent asked.
“Yes, press play.” Brett replied and my father did exactly that.
The video was over an hour long and I had to close my eyes several times. Seth was an absolute monster, the physical and s****l abuse he inflicted on Lilly was beyond disgusting. He had “shared” her, exactly how Kyle had insinuated Seth had done with Max. I felt sick to my stomach just watching the video.
The room was quiet as the video played and I even noticed a few of the elders look away from the TV at times. I glanced over at Max who had a few tears running down her cheeks as she silently watched the screen.
Alec didn’t dare say a word, it was clear that he knew this evidence was going to change everything.
Jo looked overwhelmed with emotions, I could see the pain, guilt, pity and anger in his eyes. I didn’t blame him, watching the video really put everything in perspective when it came to Max’s abuse. We all knew without having to be told that what Seth did to Lilly, he also did to Max.
Ron was holding Lilly while the video played and she buried her face into his chest. She clearly didn’t want to relive the memory.
On the video, there were a few men that participated in the abuse, including Kyle, Seth and two other guys that I didn’t recognize.
Knox stiffened when his brother appeared on the screen. He already knew about his brother’s disgusting deeds, but it didn’t make it any easier for him to watch.
Once the video was done playing, my father turned it off.
I was actually surprised that Alec wasn’t one of her abusers. He seemed like a vile man, where was he when all this was going on?
“Alpha Alec, I must admit that this video makes me sick to my stomach. This was happened on your territory and even worse, by your second in command.” The elder named, Colin, stated while shaking his head in disbelief.
“I had no idea. I’m just as shocked as all of you right now.” Alec replied, faking a surprised expression on his face.
“This video is beyond disturbing and if you didn’t realize this was happened right under your nose, then you weren’t doing your job.” Brett spat out.
“Miss Lilly, did you ever contact us regarding the abuse you endured?“ Brett asked curiously.
“Yes, I did. After I recorded this video, I made an anonymous call to your office. I was planning on coming here and exposing Seth, but unfortunately I never made it. The night I snuck off the territory, I was caught my Alpha Alec’s warriors. They mind-link him to see what he wanted them to do with me and…” Lilly started and trailed off at the end of her statement. Tears started running down her cheeks as she recalled what happened.
“Take your time, Miss Lilly.” Brett said and she gave him a small appreciative smile.
“The warriors told me that Alpha Alec ordered them to kill me. He was going to make an example of me to the rest of the pack. He wanted to scare people so that no one else would try to leave.” She continued and I saw Brett glare at Alec.
“She’s lying.” Alec argued.
“After watching that video, I don’t doubt what she’s saying one bit. I also don’t believe that you were clueless to what your Beta had been doing to these young ladies. It actually scares me to think about how many more victims there might be.” Brett replied sternly.
“How did you get away from the warriors, Lilly?” Tanner asked, turning everyone’s attention back towards Lilly.
“I ran from them, but it didn’t take long for them to catch up with me. I fought the best I could and at one point I didn’t think I was going to make it. I was outnumbered three to one, but I refused to give up. I got a second chance to run and I took it. I pushed my bloodied body past it’s limits until I reached a fast moving river. I was stuck, there was nowhere for me to go. It didn’t take long for the warriors to once again catch up with me. I didn’t have much of a choice, I either threw myself in the river and hope that I would survive or let them kill me. Obviously I went with the first option. I jumped in the river and was swept away.” She explained and paused for a second before continuing.
“I must have lost consciousness at some point, because the next thing I remembered was waking up in Alpha Victor’s pack hospital. I was told they found me on the edge of the river and brought me to their territory to received medical attention. That’s where I met my mate, beta Ron. I told him and Alpha Victor everything that happened, but left out the video I had taken as proof. They wanted me to report Seth and Alpha Alec, but I was too afraid. I was hoping that if they thought I was dead, they wouldn’t come looking for me. That’s why I never came forward with the evidence. I didn’t tell anyone about the video until a couple days ago. When I heard about Max’s case, I knew I had to do something.” Lilly continued.
“I’m so sorry Max, you shouldn’t have suffered the way you did. If I had reported him sooner, I could have saved you from the abuse.” Lilly said, as tears poured freely from her eyes.
“It’s not your fault. I understand why you didn’t come forward. It’s not like the werewolf council is fair or even just. Who knows how they would have treated you if you had come forward. I blame them for not keeping us safe. Isn’t that why we have a council? To make sure that Alphas and their ranked members aren’t abusing their positions? That they aren’t mistreating their lower ranked members? It was clear the moment I got here that I didn’t stand a chance. Why? Because I’m a lowly rogue. A disgusting, vile creature that isn’t worthy of your time.” Max spat out, while eyeing each and every one of the elders with disgust.
“You’re right, Max. We failed you both and I’m deeply sorry.” Brett said sincerely.
“Alpha Alec, what do you have to say for yourself?” Brett asked, turning his attention towards Alec.
“She’s lying, I never ordered my men to kill her.” He replied, but his tone wasn’t confident like it had been earlier.
“Councilmen, after hearing this new evidence, raise your hand if you think Max is still guilty.” Brett asked and no hands were raised. I let out a breath that I didn’t realize I had been holding. They were about to clear my best friends name and I was beyond thrilled.
“Max, based on the unanimous vote, you are cleared of all charges.” Brett stated and I watched Jo hug Max like his life depended on it.
“Now councilmen, who believes that Alpha Alec didn’t know about any of this abuse?” Brett asked and the only person that raised his hand was elder Troy. Brett seemed slightly surprised by his colleague choice, but didn’t mention it.
“It’s four against one. The majority agrees that Alpha Alec must have known something was going on. It’s deeply disturbing to know what kind of abuse has occurred on your territory and if you did in fact know, that’s a very serious offence. An Alpha that allows that kind of abuse to occur on his territory is just as guilty as the abuser. Based on the allegations alone, I think we have a duty to investigate you further.” Brett explained.
“I also don’t trust that you won’t try and flee or harm anyone because of these new allegations. Therefore, you will be taken into custody while we conduct our investigation.” Brett added and I heard a few gasps throughout the room.
“You can’t do that. I’m innocent.” Alec argued.
“I think we’ve heard enough from you. Warriors, take him away.” Brett ordered and the warriors made their way towards Alec.
As they got close, Alec evaded them and ran for the door. I felt like I was watching a scene in slow motion. My father stepped in front of Alec and pulled his fist back before landing a hard blow to his face. Alec immediately fell backwards onto the ground.
“That was for trying to have my daughter killed.” My father said calmly.
“Your daughter?” Brett asked curiously.
“Oh yes, Chloe over there is my daughter.” Vincent replied proudly.
“Interesting, I never knew you had a daughter.” Brett stated.
“I just found out a few days ago.” Vincent replied and Brett nodded.
The warriors took Alec into custody and dragged him out of the room.
Although the meeting didn’t go as planned, the outcome was certainly better than I expected. I’m hoping this meeting changes the way the council conducts themselves in the future.
As for Lilly, I think it’s time we reunite her with Betty and Tom.
