Saving Kinsley -
Waves
Kinsley's P.O.V
The next day came quickly. With a knock at my door I roused from my sleep. Through a yawn "Come in."
Vivi's petite form pushed through the door "Hey how are you doin'? I brought you breakfast." My mouth watered at the sight before me. Eggs coated with cheese and ham peeking through, Bacon laying comfortably next to it.
"Much better now, thanks Vivi." I said as I scooted down to the end of the bed reaching for the plate.
Vivi smiled as I dumped the food into my mouth, Goddess who made this food? It was amazing. "Hey, Vivi. I have a question for ya."
She nodded, pushing her blonde hair behind one of her ears. "Hypothetically speaking, If someone were to reject you but didn't say their name properly, would that affect the rejection?"
Vivi's eyebrows scrunched together and she looked off in the distance soaking in my question "I suppose it might. I've never heard of that happening though."
"Interesting." I stated.
"Why do you ask?" Her head cocked sideways, to decipher my question.
"No reason." I shrugged.
That has to be why I still feel this stupid mate pull. If my last name really is Marshall. Only one way to replace out if my hunch is spot on, but I need an escape plan in place just in case things go sideways.
"Hey, want to go for a run or something today?" I asked Vivi.
"Yeah, after dinner work? I'll come replace you." She softly smiled. Nodding my head, Vivi got up from her place on the bed.
The door closed softly behind Vivi, leaving me to my own thoughts again. Shower, then explore. Or dare I say plot my great escape, I thought as a grin spread across my face. Laughing I shook my head, man I think I'm losing it. I blame it on the stress. Could you really blame me though?
Walking into the bathroom, I stopped dead in my tracks the second I saw my reflection. My hair was so dull, it was almost a muddy brown color instead of its natural vibrant reds. Frowning as my gaze traveled over my own body, I looked like I shouldn't even be up and walking.
I turned to the shower, forgetting what I just saw. I stepped into the shower, letting the water cascade down my body. I watched the water swirl and and separate as it went down, almost hypnotizing as I just stood there.
Sighing I shut the shower off, and stepped into the steam filled room. I groaned loudly when I realized I had no clean clothes. Wrapping the towel around me, I gathered my clothes and stepped out of the bathroom.
Laying on the bed was a set of clean clothes. With a note set atop.
' For you, Kinsley.'
No signature anywhere, to give my thanks to. I put on the warm leggings and threw the shirt on, then pulled the sweater over my arms and zipped it.
Opening the bedroom door, I walked down the hall. My thoughts wandered to who might have left the clothing, had to be Vivi.
As I neared the end of the stair case, I heard a clash of breaking dishes. Inwardly making me cringe at the sound. Rounding the corner I stopped, Vivi was on her knees hastily picking up the broken glass.
"You had one job! I should break your hands for being so careless!" A woman shouted, with her back turned my way.
Her hand raised in a threatening motion that I was all to familiar with, she was going to hit Vivi. Consequences be damned, I wouldn't allow this to happen to anyone while I was still breathing.
Vivi crunched inwards, waiting for the hand to come down. But it never met her flesh.
Holding the woman's wrist in my hand I whispered closely "If you ever lay a hand on her, I will make sure its the last thing you ever do." My whisper must have struck true as her body went rigid and the room fell silent.
Vivi's eyes widened as she looked up at me, frantically shaking her head for me to back off. I smiled at my friend, "If any of you ever abuse another soul in this vicinity as long as I'm around I will break and re break every single bone in your body until you're begging the Moon Goddess to end it." My voice carried throughout the silent room as I looked at every single face.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" A younger female screeched from nearby. Narrowing my eyes "Kinsley fucking Hart, touch her and I'll start dropping bodies. The moon Goddess as my witness." My words dripping with deadly intent. So many years these assholes got away with abusing the lower ranked pack members thinking they could always get away with the sickening behavior. Ember's growl rumbled throughout me, angered by the mistreatment by the higher ranking wolves. If I had to be stuck here then you can bet your ass I'd be making waves.
The female backed off, shooting her own glare at me as she dropped her gaze.
Reaching down I helped Vivi from the floor, "Go, I'll clean this." Vivi nodded and left the room.
Everyone still stared at my every movement as I gathered the shards of china from the floor. "Don't you have better things to be doing?" That must have snapped them into focus because suddenly the room was flurrying with motion.
I could feel his gaze lighting a fire as it traveled over me from behind, One could only guess who it'd be. Rolling my eyes I turned around, "Can I help you Dakota?"
His features lit up with a smug look "That was well handled. Next time remember, you're not in charge around here."
My temper spiked, "Normally I wouldn't intervene, but the abuse needs to stop." I'd hoped that my narrowed gaze would have some effect. Of course not, Instead I was left there to watch his retreating form down the hall.
How could they just sit there and allow this to happen? As long as I was around, I'd be doing everything I can to stop it. With a huff, I dropped the glass into the garbage bin and left the kitchen area.
I need to burn off some steam. My frustrations needed to be channeled into something, anything.
Walking outside I caught a glimpse of guys jogging into another building off the side of the pack house. Maybe that's where the work out room is?
Following after the guys, I entered the building. It reeked of sweat and pure adrenaline. In the dead center was a ring on a raised platform, the ropes forming a perfect square. Two men repeatedly hitting each other relentlessly in the center. I must have stood there gawking to long when a voice startled me.
"You lost?" His gaze swept over me in an amused way.
A sneaky smile crept across my face "Actually, I'm here to blow off some steam."
His smile dropped "Absolutely not. Out." His hand thrusted in a pointing motion to the door I just entered.
Noah, deciding to walk in at just the right time "Let her work things out man. She won't cause any trouble." His deep baritone voice announced as he threw his shirt to a bench. The man nodded and stepped to the side, no longer blocking my path.
