Saving Kinsley -
Doom
Kinsley's P.O.V
His scent wrapped it's cruel arms around me, confining me to where I stood. Dakota's hand ghosted across the skin on my neck, sending a shiver throughout my body. A finger lifted my head to his gaze, the second our skin touched sparks burst from the contact. The blissful sensation, pulling a gasp from my chest.
I could feel a stray tear fall from the corner of my eye "I- this can't be real."
"We are still mates Kinsley, this is very much real." He spoke as his chest rumbled from our nearness. This was wrong, how the hell is this happening?
I racked my brain for anything.
He rejected me. I accepted. Simple, but yet in this moment, so complicated.
My frustration got the better of me as I pushed away from Dakota. Rightfully so. "I'm leaving. Whatever sick game you've concocted I want no part in."
As I stepped away from him a growl came from behind me. I turned just as he gripped my hand, "You feel that?" His green and gold flecked eyes flashed with determination and something else. Regret maybe? Yeah I'd put my money on that.
The sparks tingled where our hands met, traveling up my arm. With a growl I yanked my hand free "What's your point? You still rejected me Dakota." I gritted out. To this day I could still feel that emptiness inside. His push and pull game wasn't fair. He didn't want me, and now he does?
"My point is we still have a chance Kinsley. I Dakota Warren recant my rejection to you Kinsley Hart." His eyes sparkled as he spoke, the breath whooshing from my chest as he finished speaking.
No. No I won't do this again.
I can't.
Whimpering, I could feel the pull to my mate. The same strength it had before the rejection. Maybe this was our second chance? No. Damnit, the reasonable side of my brain was fighting against this. An inner battle of wills. My wolf wanted her Mate, I wanted nothing to do with him.
"Dakota? Where are you babe?" A familiar voice called to him. Snarling as I recognized it. Danielle.
"You say you want to be my mate, but how can you when your heart lies with her? Let me go Dakota. I don't want this." I said my voice gravely as my wolf pushed for control. Her feelings were quickly overcoming my own, Instinct ridden. She wanted the she wolf dead.
"But why? I can have you both. She will be my Luna, and you-" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? At least Ember and I agreed on that. Cutting him off with a ferocious growl. "I will NOT be your mistress Dakota. Fuck this, I'm leaving. Fuck you and this Mate bond. You never deserved me."
I quickly spun towards the door, yanking it open it flew to the wall with a bang just as my gaze met hers.
"Kinsley." She snarled. Her hatred for me showing clearly as her eyes scanned over me in a glare.
Shoving past her with my own snarl, "Don't worry, I was just leaving. He's all yours."
I cant believe he had the balls to do this. UGH! Just as my life was starting to come together, he had to swoop in and ruin it all. Goddess what had I done in a past life to deserve this?
I could feel his heated gaze on me as I stomped down the unknown Home, "Shift" His demand snaked up my back, digging into my soul. Falling to my knees as I gasped for air, fighting against his command. "If you don't shift You'll only be hurting yourself." His voice was rigid, cold.
My bones began to pop slowly and then form again as I fought the change. His command pressed down harder, strangling out the last of the oxygen in my lungs as I tried to scream out from the pain. Fur rippled down my body as the command forced me to shift painfully, and my vision became crystal clear. Inhaling a breath, finally I faced my mate.
The second our eyes connected Ember surged forward, kicking me to the back. I was now a passenger in my own mind. Ember cautiously inched towards his out stretched hand. Trying my hardest to fight against what was happening, it felt like a band had snapped and everything had gone black.
'Ember?'
The black abyss caved in around me, like my own personal prison. Gasping out as the realization hit, She was blocking me from my own mind, for Him.
I was truly alone now.
God I felt so powerless.
Wrapping my arms around my self, I fell to my knees. 'Ember please. Fight it. He's going to hurt us again.. I- I don't think I can survive that again." My voice carried like a whisper in the wind. Only to be met by a deafening silence in the black void.
Squeezing my eyes shut, I tried to stop the tears. My body shook silently as the tears escaped.
Alone.
I would always be alone.
Sobbing, I gave in and like the black onyx that surrounded me, I welcomed it as a form of sleep overcame me.
Opening my eyes, at first, the darkness greeted me. I caught a glimpse of a faint light. What the- It flickered slowly, as if it were being put out. Standing, I hesitantly walked towards the odd light. It was dull, but I could feel something pulling me in that direction. Calling to me.
Squinting my eyes in question as I neared, What is that? Fire? Light? This is some weird ass dream. Pinching my arm, "Shit, I am awake." I hissed out and rubbed my arm.
The light flickered, as the tip of it leaned towards my body. Something inside of me pushed to touch it.
Reaching out I ran my hand over the top of the mysterious light or fire.
The second I made contact, It sprung like it had its own agenda. Attaching itself to me, I quickly patted at my chest where it climbed to snuff it out. "Shit, shit, shit" Starting to panic as it grew over my chest. The weird part?
It didn't hurt.
Suddenly everything went black as I felt it dive inside.
