135–Charge and control

I cross

ross my arms a

and stare at Bellamy in a combination of irritation and bewilderment. He looks pleased with himself andI don’t think he’s noticed that something is off yet.

“What the hell Bellamy!” I complain, may as well make it clear since he’s being a little. oblivious. Heseems a little stunned.

“What’s wrong? I thought you would be happy you’ll be getting some answers soon.” He asks, his headtilted to the side and an innocent expression on his face. Does he really not realise what he just did? Also why is his puzzled expression cute? That’s not fair! It makes it really hard to be annoyed with him.

“You… you just registered me… as… well, you know!” I stammer out. Why do I feel like half of myarguments with Bellamy circle back to him making a decision without my input and me objecting. Not tomention he usually seems to get his way too. I’m sick of having the same. argument over and overagain. We really need to figure this out.

“I just wanted you to get the information faster. The position is yours and you’ve said you intend toaccept it eventually, what’s the harm in submitting the paperwork a little early? It’s not like anyone elseKNOWS about it. Nothing has to change.“He tries to reason. I let out a deep sigh of exasperation. Hejust doesn’t get it. I notice him pat down his pocket, his phone. is ringing but he ignores it.

“I know all that and I agree that you’re right. The problem is that you didn’t talk to me first. You madethe decision all on your own. Can you really promise me that registering me as the female Feline Alpha

won’t have ANY impact on my life?” I demand. Bellamy hesitates and I spend a moment cursing thepiercing sound of his ringtone. Bellamy lets out a defeated sigh.

“Well… there is one thing, but. it’s not likely to happen!” He insists. I just glare at him and

wait.

“If something were to…. happen to me, if I were to die or went missing or something, I suppose thattechnically you would be legally the one who would take over the pack…” he trails off, watching myface closely for signs of how I’m reacting to this news. I think he is expecting me to yell, but I just can’t.I don’t have the energy.

“Just answer your damn phone.” I mutter in disgust. I then turn and storm up the stairs. ignoring hisstammered objections and into his room where I close the door and collapse into the bed. That mightbe a little unfair because I know it is his bedroom, but I have nowhere else to go. He can go stay in hisoffice or something, I need a break from him.

About twenty minutes later, I hear his soft knock on the door. I hide my head under the blankets andignore it. I hear the door crack open.

“Ryann? Can we talk for a minute?” He asks tentatively. I just don’t answer him. He waits a

moment then sighs.

“Okay, that’s fine. You don’t have to talk to me right now. A Shifter has called and requested myassistance for a little bit. I should only be out for an hour or so, but I won’t be here so you don’t need to

keep hiding. Darrien and Aaron are here if you need anything. I- I’ll talk to you. later okay?” He goes toleave then pauses.

“I really didn’t mean to upset you.” He adds before leaving. I just sigh into the pillows. I KNOW he didn’tmean to upset me, he never does, but it just keeps happening. I might be struggling with thisrelationship and keeping things going slow, but he doesn’t have it all figured out either. My phonevibrates on the bed beside me.

Megan- I have a ‘client interview‘ video assignment to work on, Darrien has volunteered to be my fakeclient. If you need anything for the next hour or so please just text first so we can pause the recording. Thanks <3

Right… so it will just be Aaron downstairs right now. That doesn’t seem so bad, at least he won’t forceme into conversation or many any unwanted observations. Or as least if he does he won’t verbalisethem.Since lying in Bellamy’s bed surrounded by his scent and my own. thoughts isn’t helping, I decideto head downstairs. I replace Aaron sitting on the couch in the living room reading. He looks up, gives me acritical once over and then nods a greeting. The only sign that he might have noticed my distress is thathe appears to be watching me from the corner of his eye while reading. I replace myself pacing circles ofthe room while heaving out sighs. How is it that by saying absolutely nothing, Aaron has still managedto make me feel pressured to speak? He isn’t even LOOKING at me. Ugh, I swear silence is hissuperpower, and he uses it well. I manage to hold my tongue for about five more minutes beforeblurting out.

“Bellamy registered me as female Alpha with the MRO.” I pause my pacing to glance at

Aaron. he looks up from his book, nods his acknowledgement of my announcement, then returns toreading. Well, that wasn’t very satisfying. I continue pacing. I’m just filled up with irritation and excessenergy. I groan and roll my eyes.

“You don’t get it, he did it without even ASKING me, he always does that. It’s not right that he feels likehe gets to be in charge of everything all the time, he’s not the boss of me. I can make decisions too!” Icomplain. This time, I don’t bother stopping to see how Aaron reacts, I don’t really expect much of aresponse, which is why I freeze when he speaks.

“If you want to take charge sometimes, stop asking and just do it.” He says in his low voice, so softlythat I nearly miss it. I throw my arms up in frustration.

“I don’t WANT to make all the decisions on my own, I WANT Bellamy and I to make decisions together. He’s the one who keeps doing things on his own.” I object. But wait, maybe that’s what he needs. I’vebeen trying to be respectful of his position of authority and his desire to keep me safe. I don’t think herealises just how often I’m compromising or even just keeping my mouth shut and letting him have hisway. Maybe I need to do as Aaron suggested and stop worrying about what he wants so much that herealises that compromise has to go both

ways. If he wants me to consult him when I make decisions, then he needs to learn to do the

same. Okay, so I have a point to make. but how to start. I have an idea.

“Aaron I want to go out, let’s go for a walk, just around inside the compound so it’ll be safe enough. Ithink I have some energy to burn.” I declare. Aaron looks at me speculatively and for a second I thinkhe’s going to refuse. But finally, he places his book on the seat beside him, smoothly gets to his feetand nods.

“Of course Miss Gale.”
