In the blink of an eye, the semester officially started. I was busy this semester because my classes were tight. Not to mention, I had a Tudor-style project that kept me even busier.

The beginning of the semester was also the peak period for painting competitions hosted by famous institutions. Each department would send out contestants.

Professor King had taken on a new task. He had no time to guide students from our department to participate in the competition. So, he decided to assign me this important task. He even talked with me about it in his office.

There were many young and promising lecturers in the college. I could tell he assigned the task to a graduate student like me because he intended to train me.

However, my courses were a bit tight. More than half of the Tudor-style project remained unfinished. I didn't have enough time. I had to think about it before deciding whether to accept it.

Before I left his office, I noticed his disappointment. I could only shy away and flee.

From that day forward, Professor King used every means possible to keep me informed of the painting competition's details. I received several planning reports in my mailbox, not to mention WhatsApp messages. There was so much news that I had to replace time to read them.

Winston was the competition's student leader. Before the contestant list was finalized, he invited me to be a consultant. He praised me for being unique and stated that if I didn't help them, Jesselton College would most likely fail in this competition.

That was slightly exaggerated. I didn't think I was that capable.

I declined several times, but he pushed me forward and forced me to join the team. He cited the lofty goal of asking me to lead the juniors to higher heights and bring more honor to Jesselton College.

I had no idea how Professor King and Winston celebrated on the day I agreed to join. Anyway, he was late the next day and had been in a trance all morning.

Time became valuable to me. I gave up all other schedules and went back and forth between the classrooms, the cafeteria, the department, and the Crystal House. I was racing against time.

Colin's previously delayed projects owing to academic exchanges were rescheduled. He took many on-campus classes, which kept him busy.

Aside from going home to sleep, we hardly had time to see each other, let alone have a good chat or hug and kiss as we used to. Almost all our communication was through phones.

Colin also felt helpless. He took the time to message me, saying that he wanted to stay away from this environment. He hoped to take me to a paradise free of noise and disputes, where we could live peacefully. It would be better than sharing a bed without doing anything.

Behind his message was a selfie of his unhappy face and pouted mouth. It made me laugh so hard that I choked on my breath.

Despite our busy schedules, we had fun amid hardships. We always encouraged and comforted each other.

One day, no one came to me during the break. I took the chance to head to the rooftop to relax for a while, but I ran into Felix.

This damn fate was so annoying.

I was at fault. I shouldn't have worn headphones while listening to music. I shouldn't even have gone to the top floor on a whim. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bumped into him.

The layout of the faculty building in our department was relatively old. To reach the top floor, I had to pass through a narrow corridor.

On the left side of the end of the corridor was a small conference room converted from an abandoned utility room. Only a few people would use it, and almost no one came.

The rooftop entrance was on the right side. After entering, I would replace a vast world, which was also my destination.

When I got to the end of the corridor and was ready to turn right, I heard a faint sound on the left. So, I subconsciously looked sideways.

As I wore headphones, my hearing wasn't sensitive, so I had to rely solely on my vision. As a result, I saw Lilac hugging Felix's neck and kissing him passionately, seemingly intoxicated. Felix stood straight with his hands in his trouser pockets as always. He didn't respond to Lilac's enthusiasm but didn't push her away either. He accepted her kiss calmly.

My first reaction was to leave when I saw such a terrible scene, but I accidentally hit the iron fence and made a noise.

Felix reacted in time and noticed me, who was stunned on the spot. His expression shifted as he pushed Lilac away reflexively. It was rare for me to see panic on his face.
