"Mom, do I look prettier now?" I changed the topic forcefully.

"Of course, you do. You're the pride of the family, so you're the prettiest." Dad's face appeared on the screen. The maturity and handsomeness of a middle-aged man appear in my view.

Mom told me that when Dad was younger, he was quite a charming man. Many women approached him and tried to steal his heart.

However, Dad had fine taste. He was devoted to Mom and never batted an eye at those women who desperately wanted his attention. He remained loyal to Mom and thus gave birth to the perfect love story. Together, they enjoyed a happy life.

Likewise, Colin was just as talented and handsome as Dad. Many women wanted his attention too, but he paid them no mind. However, many more would continue to fall for Colin for the long days ahead. Jasmine was the current example, and I was racking my brain to keep her at bay.

Fortunately for me, Mom called me. She was an experienced pro in fending off unsolicited admirers from Dad. I should ask her for tips.

We talked for a bit. Mom, perceptive as she was, noticed that something was odd with me. She kicked Dad out of the room so that we had the privacy for a mom-daughter talk.

Mom listened as I relayed my concerns to her. The smile on her face disappeared, and she donned a serious expression. "Lulu, like a family, love requires effort and commitment.

"I can only offer you several words for your problems-trust, fidelity, tolerance, and resolution. If both of you possess all of them, you'll have a happy life."

"Mom, are you happy with Dad?"

Mom smirked and looked at the door that led to the couch in the living room. Dad was probably sitting there, waiting for her permission to return to the room.

"I've spent more than 20 years with your father. He has given me so much love and understanding. I can be whoever I want before him, and he spoils me. I'm over the moon to be able to spend my life with him."

Seeing the look of happiness on my mother, I truly hoped that I could be like her in the future-to be spoiled like a princess.

"Oh, darling. Why are you so corny and why am I tearing up? I'm so happy to have found you too. Even if I could do it all over again, I'd still choose you."

Sheesh. Dad's words were even cornier than what Mom had said. Was this what men did when they were lovestruck? Overhearing the romantic exchange, I shook my head. Did they really have to perform PDA in front of their own daughter?

While I was getting all squirmy from their romanticism, Mom teared up from what Dad had said. Her meticulously pampered skin turned red as she playfully punched Dad with her free hand. He had recently rejoined Mom by her side. Then, Mom protested coyly, "Lulu is here. Stop it."

Dad pulled Mom into his embrace and winked at me. Having had enough of their PDA, I hung up right away. I was planning to talk to Mom. But instead, all I got was their PDA. My parents were so annoying!
