Selling Myself To The Alpha -
Chapter 118
Adele POV
"
"What a vile man," I grunt as Luther, and I walk away to the dining area. "I wouldn't mind if this event ends now."
"You're the alpha," Luther chuckles. "You have the authority to send them all home."
"You're right," I stop dead in my tracks and look at him. "I did what I had to do; I don't have to partake in the party any longer." Nicky, would you come here, please, I mind-link her.
I scour the guests until I see Nicky coming towards me. Her raven black hair is tied into a neat ponytail and her brown eyes are big and curious. I met her when Axel and I surveyed the house for renovations. I instantly took a liking to the petite Omega. She is kind and friendly, but the sadness in her eyes captivated me.
"You called, Alpha," she reports to me..
"Please fetch my diary and a pen from my office," I order softly. "And meet me back here."
She nods, turns around and hurries away.
"What are you up to?" Luther asks curiously.
"Appointing my assistant," I smile. "I don't have any ranks or help and need to start somewhere."
Nicky stands next to me and holds out the diary and pen.
"What are your duties here, Nicky?" I ask politely.
"I'm a cleaner," she replies timidly. "Rather, I was a cleaner for alpha Jack."
"How would you like to be my assistant?" I ask friendly.
"I... uhm, okay, I guess," she stammers.
"Hang on to that for me," I smile before I walk to the microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen," I announce and wait until everyone has settled down before I continue. "I want to thank everyone for taking time off from your busy schedules to join this historical event. Unfortunately, I have urgent business to attend to. Please don't hesitate to leave your name and number with my assistant, Nicky, and we will schedule a meeting. Enjoy the rest of the party."
I smile as I return the microphone and walk to a wide-eyed
Nicky, whose jaw is practically lying on the floor.
"Close your mouth, Nicky," I say and instantly she obeys. "It will be fine. Just schedule my meetings, go home and get a good night's sleep. I'll see you tomorrow at ten. This party isn't going to end soon."
"Yes, Alpha," she nods, and I grab a bottle of wine from a passing waiter.
He is on the verge of protesting when he notices it is me, and he keeps on walking.
"Get two glasses and follow me," I whisper to Luther.
He grins mischievously at me as he obeys and follows me to my room. I walk straight to the ensuite bathroom and open the bath's taps. I add bubble bath generously into the running water before I turn to Luther. "Undo me please," I ask with my back towards him.
He places the glasses down and helps me.
"Strip," I smile as I peel my clothes off and get into the tub with the bottle of wine. "And bring the glasses."
"I'm a man, I don't take baths," he mocks.
"Please," I snort and roll my eyes as I submerge myself into the warm water. "I watched Bill Burr too. You're not in here alone, it's different."
He laughs in response and gets into the bath opposite from me. I fill our glasses and sigh contently as I lean back into the bubbles.
"The perfect end to an exhausting day," I close my eyes as I inhale the scents of vanilla and lavender that are filling the bathroom.
"My parents were married for thirty years before they died,"
I say after a moment and open my eyes. Luther is absentmindedly playing with the foam while he sips from his wine. "I know we have the mate bond that contributes to forever marriages, but theirs had a little extra. They had true love. Do you know how rare it is for people to be married for decades and still adore each other? Stolen kisses and a meaningful glance."
"I wouldn't know," Luther grins sourly. "My dad cheated on my mom before they hit the first decade."
"All the more reason for you to notice," I smile, and he looks confused at me. "You can see what's extra with other couples because you know how it looks when it's not there.
"I want what my parents had, Luther," I put my glass down and the water stirs as I straddle his lap.
"I want to feel like I'm the only woman in the room when my body starts losing the fight against gravity," I snake my arms around his neck. "We weren't rich and had no status, but we were blessed and so, so happy. I never aimed for this position. I worked hard because that was what I was taught to do. If you want to eat, you must work. And when you do something, you do it properly or not at all. I worked hard, Luther, and then I got this promotion. I'm not ungrateful for the opportunity, but it's not something I necessarily wanted."
I smile into his eyes as I glide my fingers through his hair.
"You can't take this away from me because it's not something I wanted or had," I lean over and kiss him softly.
"But you can take everything I ever wanted away from me if you leave me. Resigning isn't a sacrifice or a compromise.
It's a choice. I'm choosing what I want and need, and that's you."
The glass slips out of his hand and lands with a soft plop on the rug. We maintain eye contact when his hand goes around my neck, and he pulls me closer. His lips are soft, hot and eager when he kisses me. His fingers tangle into my hair and I push my chest closer to his. A peaceful warmth spreads through me as the kiss intensifies.
His hand glides over my back to the front and settles his erection at my entrance. Tediously slow I lower myself onto him. Neither of us move or make a sound as we simply enjoy our unity for a moment.
He pulls away slightly to look me in the eyes.
"I love you," he mumbles before he slowly starts moving his hips.
"I love you," I reply and put my arms around his neck as I increase our rhythm.
The sounds of water and soaks spilling over mixed with our heaving breathing are the only noises echoing through the bathroom. Luther's strong hands roam loving up and down my back. I lose myself in his touch and his bite on my bottom lip when it feels like my emotions are about to overwhelm me.
All I want from life is to be loved by my mate and partner.
To have him by my side no matter what. And my wish came true when I met Luther. He has loved me from the moment he saw me, and he is willing to sacrifice himself to keep me happy and make me feel important and needed Why would I ever want to give it up for a title?
My c*ervix builds higher and higher, and I moan in pleasure.
"Luther," I pant his name as my muscles tighten around him.
"I love you," I groan as my orga*sm hits me hard and furiously.
He captures my lips and thrusts into me until he trembles against me.
Breathlessly, we cling to each other as we catch our breaths.
"The bath is practically empty," he chuckles after a moment.
"Should we try the shower next?" I wiggle my eyebrows.
"This gives leaving your mark' a whole new meaning," he chuckles before he kisses me.
"That's a good thing," I laugh heartedly as I manoeuvre myself off him and out of the tub.
"Adele," he climbs out and wraps me in his arms. "I don't want you to resign."
"But.."
"I hear what you said," he cuts me off smiling. "But there should be more leaders like you and less like my parents and Jack. With your example and guidance, people might change and make better decisions."
"I'm not doing it at your expense, Luther," I shake my head adamantly.
"Adele," he cups my face and kisses me. "It's not. I actually need this. I've been carrying this grudge, but I never did anything about it. Now, I can. Together we can make the change. We can lead by example and show this pack love and loyalty."
I study his face intensely for a moment. He means it, I can tell. But I am not sure if I want to risk us. I know it might sound selfish, but I much rather have a happily ever after with Luther as an Omega than being an alpha with a marriage filled with resentment. "On one condition," I say after a moment. "The second it threatens our relationship, we walk away." "Deal," he kisses me longingly. "Now, let's go christen the shower."
