Seven Days Seven Nights (Nicholas and Nancy) -
Chapter 65
Chapter 65 Making Nicholas Feel the Pain
Nicholas frowned, feeling a severe headache. Deep inside, he felt even more uneasy, a sense of discomfort weighing heavily on his heart.
"We don't need to pick her up. Arrange a taxi to pass by our house around eight o'clock," he instructed.
"Uhm, Mr. Sallow, Mrs. Sallow has already arranged a car with me. There's no need to go through. all this trouble," Lynn said. He was completely puzzled.
"Just do as I say."
"Alright, Mr. Sallow."
After hanging up the phone, Nicholas furrowed his brow tightly.
If his guess were correct, Nancy wouldn't take any car from the Sallows today.
So, her only option would be to take a taxi.
However, they were in a villa area surrounded by mountains, and every household had their cars. Unless it was a particular situation, there wouldn't be any taxis passing through there.
After finishing her meal, Nancy went upstairs to apply light makeup.
But when it came time to change her shoes, she found herself deeply conflicted.
She wasn't very tall. Instead, her figure was more of the petite and delicate type. However, she knew that if she were to attend an interview, there would undoubtedly be many taller person.
Although being a doctor heavily relied on qualifications and personal abilities, she wanted to avoid being immediately overshadowed by others in terms of presence as soon as she entered the interview room. Therefore, wearing a pair of high heels was the best choice.
However, when she thought about her baby, she hesitated once more.
The hospital was often crowded, and there were emergencies at any moment. If Nancy were accidentally bumped into someone, wearing high heels could easily twist her ankle and potentially harm her baby. After much deliberation, Nancy chose a pair of slightly elevated flat shoes.
This way, she appeared taller while maintaining a higher level of safety.

While waiting for the car outside, she was pretty anxious.
After waiting ten minutes without getting a ride, no Uber driver accepted her request, even when she added an extra fee. Nancy suddenly regretted her decision.
This interview was a crucial opportunity; it was the position she had dreamed of. She would regret it if she missed the interview because she couldn't catch a ride. Even though she was currently upset with Nicholas, she knew she shouldn't let her frustration. with him affect her job interview.
If she had taken his car in the morning, she would likely have been at the hospital by now.
After waiting a few more minutes, just as Nancy became impatient, a taxi with a "vacant" sign suddenly came driving up.
Nancy felt a surge of excitement and immediately hailed the taxi.
It took about 20 minutes, but when the taxi finally came to a steady stop at the hospital entrance, Nancy breathed a sigh of relief. Checking the time, it was exactly 8:40, twenty minutes ahead of schedule. Everything was going well.
The interview went smoothly, and Nancy's anxious heart finally settled down..
Even though the hospital said they would inform her of the interview results over the phone in a week, Nancy felt she had done well.
She had complete confidence in herself because she had prepared thoroughly regarding her professionalism, answers to interview questions, and all other aspects. Since she had yet to graduate, she could only join as an intern.
However, she wasn't disheartened at all.
She knew that one day, she would overcome all obstacles, become an official doctor at this hospital, and fulfill her mother's expectations of being an outstanding doctor. After leaving the hospital, Nancy went straight to the mall.
She had decided last night that since Nicholas had caused her so much distress, she would indulge in some serious retail therapy to make his wallet feel the pain for once.
Why should she be the one in pain every time? This time, she was also determined to make him. bleed a little.
After having a meal at the mall, Nancy ran into Linda.

Upon hearing Nancy's thoughts, Linda raised both hands in agreement and said, "Exactly! Nicholas is asking for it. Nancy, please stick with me today. If we don't max out his credit card and make him hurt, don't call me Linda."
"All right, then I'll leave it all to you," Nancy said with a smile, linking her arm with Linda's.
"Let's go! We're going to have a blast!"
After that, they embarked on a shopping spree, starting from the seventh floor and working their way down.
Nancy was puzzled and asked, "Why not start from the first floor?"
"Girl, the first floor is mostly jewelry, and that's the most expensive. We'll save that for the grand finale to give to Nicholas during this thrilling adventure."
Nancy nodded in enthusiastic agreement.
As it turned out, their shopping stamina was limited. After just three floors, both of them felt
tired.
Luckily, right after the interview, Nancy had changed into a pair of comfortable and soft flat shoes, or else her feet would have been in agony.
They immediately found a nearby cafe to sit down. Linda ordered an ice-cold milk tea. While Nancy, who was enviously eyeing the cold drink, ultimately settled for a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice at room temperature.
When their drinks arrived simultaneously, Nancy couldn't help but gaze at Linda's ice-cold beverage with floating ice cubes, her eyes gleaming with envy.
Since she learned about her pregnancy, Nancy has been living a disciplined life and followed her doctor's advice diligently.
During this entire period, she hadn't consumed anything cold.
But today, she was genuinely craving it.
Linda couldn't possibly miss that.
She pushed her milk tea directly in front of Nancy and said, "You can have it. You look so desperate with those eyes sparkling. But I have a condition: you can only take a tiny sip." "Okay! You know me best, Linda."
Nancy immediately grinned and took a sip. Then, she happily handed it back to Linda, feeling thoroughly satisfied.

Meanwhile, Nicholas received a phone call.
"How did it go?" he asked directly.
"Mr. Sallow, Mrs. Sallow and Ms. Steward are out shopping. They seem tired, so they're resting at a cafe," the person reported.
"How is her mood? Is she feeling better?"
The person glanced at Nancy again and replied, "Mrs. Sallow is very happy. She's been chatting and laughing with Ms. Steward the whole time."
"Okay."
He then asked, "How was her interview?"
"Mrs. Sallow was amazing. Over a hundred people were being interviewed today, and in the end, they only selected three candidates. Mrs. Sallow secured the position with the highest score. His voice was particularly excited and thrilled.
"Alright."
Nicholas responded and hung up the phone.
For some reason, at that moment, he couldn't quite decide whether he should feel sad or happy.
Over the years, Nancy had always lived under the protection of the Sallows. Before their marriage, Grandpa had looked out for her, and after they got married, she had the dual. protection of himself and Grandpa.
He had always thought of her as that obedient girl from long ago, the one with a backpack and two little braids heading off to school.
He even believed that a profession like medicine might not necessarily be suitable for her.
Before making this phone call, he pondered how to assist her if she failed the interview.
But he was wrong, very wrong.
The quiet and frail girl from years ago had grown into an adult, and is now stunning enough to captivate time itself.
The wrong one was him, as he was still looking at her with the same unchanging perspective.
With these thoughts in mind, Nicholas immediately dialed a call to Nancy.
