Sextuplets From Ruthless Love -
Chapter 60
"Whatever. I'll brew the coffee first," she thought.
Hence, she went to the pantry to brew coffee. Right as she reached the entrance of the chairman's office, a woman stopped her.
"Stop right there. You're a receptionist, so why are you here?"
A woman with vibrant red lips, long wavy hair, and prideful eyes was standing in front of Jessica with a file in her hands.
Jessica then lowered her gaze to glance at the tag by her chest, which stated her job title - general manager's secretary. Thus, Jessica nodded politely and replied, "Hello. I'm here to bring coffee to the chairman."
"A mere receptionist like you can't come to a place like this! Scram back to your reception and stop embarrassing yourself here."
"Her voice..." Jessica mused.
Somehow, Jessica found the voice familiar. When she took a better look at the woman, she realized it was
none other than Janice.
Jessica genuinely did not recognize Janice after the latter put on heavy makeup.
"Okay."
Jessica bobbed her head. After glancing at the mocking and disdainful look in Janice's eyes, Jessica then turned to leave.
"Well, it's not like I want to bring coffee to that man anyway. I never thought that she would have become Candor Union Company's general manager's secretary. Thank god I changed my looks, and thank god she can't recognize me because of that. Otherwise, I have no idea what kind of fuss she's going to kick up," Jessica thought.
Once she was back at the reception, Pamela came over to her with a mug of juice, curiosity bright in her eyes.
"What happened?"
"I didn't bring it to him. The general manager's secretary stopped me." "Oh, you're talking about Janice?"
The moment Pamela heard her mention Janice, she frowned. "Yes."
"Women like her are the most disgusting. She made herself a mistress just to get the role of the general manager's secretary. Pah! Look, our general manager's a man in his forties, and he's no handsome, smart man. I can't believe she can actually bring herself to do this," Pamela commented to Jessica in a soft voice as she tidied up the documents. "Did you just say that she's a mistress?"
Jessica wondered if she had misheard Pamela.
She could not believe that Janice, the university graduate who had always acted high and mighty at Cerulean was now someone's mistress.
"Yes." Pamela nodded in affirmation. "Everyone in the company knows about this. I heard that even the general manager's wife knows about this. She was about to deal with Janice when Janice shamelessly announced that she was pregnant and kicked up a fuss at the general manager's place. Tsk, tsk."
Hearing that, Jessica shook her head weakly before letting out a heavy sigh.
"What a strange thing life is. It's making us all become the ones we used to hate the most," Jessica mused.
"Jessica, the chairman's asking for you!" one of the employees standing in front of the reception desk quietly conveyed to her.
"Damn, Jessica. You... Not bad."
Pamela was shocked. Jessica had only started working in the company for two days, but the number of her interactions with the chairman was getting more than the old employees in the company.
"Don't tease me," Jessica muttered exasperatedly. At the same time, she thought, "Pamela, you have no idea how unwilling I am to talk to that man."
Nevertheless, she put down the documents in her hands and went to the chairman's office with the employee. Then, she gently knocked on the door.
"Come in," came the man's deep voice from inside the room.
Jessica took in a deep breath to recompose herself before entering.
"Mr. Gulliford, may I know what I can help you with?" she asked with a smile.
Although she was standing in front of him with a different face, she still felt a little fearful.
"Where is the coffee I've asked you to brew?"
He raised his head to look at her, his eyes filled with mixed feelings.
"Jessica, is that you?" he wondered.
"Mr. Gulliford, the general manager's secretary stopped me on my way to bring you coffee earlier, so..."
"What is a general manager's secretary?" Trevor instantly cut her off with a slight frown.
"She's-"
