Only then did Jessica realize that she might have gotten too far with her teasing. She quickly turned to look at Trevor and felt a little relieved when she saw his smiling face. "Mr. Gulliford, I didn't mean that."

"What you said is also true. It's just that you are old, and Bennett may not be into your type."

Leah covered her mouth and snickered at the blatant sarcasm in Trevor's words.

Bennett didn't say a word and continued burying himself in the book.

Jessica secretly pouted. She hoped that Trevor wouldn't be so naive to think that she wanted to be his daughter-in-law.

Make no mistake, Bennett was her child.

"Indeed, Mr. Gulliford. I will stop trying then. Can I play beach volleyball?"

Bennett had taken a dislike to her. It would be meaningless to continue staying there, so it was

better for her to withdraw herself from him first.

She would come to revisit him when he was in a better mood.

"All right." Trevor nodded, finally giving her his permission.

Jessica felt a rush of relief coursing through her mind. "At last, I've gotten rid of him," she chirped inwardly.

Trevor squinted his eyes at her leaving figure and pondered, "Is it her?"

"Mr. Gulliford, the portrait is done." Martin, who had just left, suddenly came back and handed a phone to Trevor.

"The portrait is from a profiler. We did some editing to get the final result. This is how Mrs. Gulliford should look like now."

Trevor looked at the picture on the phone. He held his breath subconsciously and looked at the back of the woman walking toward the beach. His eyes gradually became wet. "Jessica, you're still alive. It was all my fault before. This time, I will definitely cherish you with all my

heart," Trevor murmured in his mind.

"Pretend you don't know about this matter and don't bring it up again in the future."

He handed the phone back to Martin, and the corner of his mouth lifted up into a smile.

Martin took the phone and nodded obediently. "No problem."

"Trevor, are you married?" Leah frowned slightly, looking puzzled.

She was surprised to hearthat

Martin mentioned there was a Mrs. Gulliford. She found it strange as she had only heard of Trevor's

sw novel

illegitimate child, never once did she hearthat Trevor was married

Hearing this, Trevor raised his head and cast a glimpse at her. Then, he got up and walked toward the beach.

Meanwhile, everyone was having a good time on the beach playing volleyball.

Jessica joined Pamela's team. The humorous man just now was also there and had been tending to Jessica since the latter joined the game. Jessica was almost hit by the ball several times, but the man helped to block the attacks.

"Rafe, is this your show of affection? Do you have no regard for your other teammates?" Pamela pulled up her sleeves and teased.

"Yes, Rafe, what are you doing? We're all dazzled by the lovey-dovey scene right here."

"It's just a beach volleyball match. Yet, it seems like you've made this date with the girl."

Jessica shook her head resignedly at the banters. She looked at Rafe's tall figure in front of her, raised her hand, and gently pushed him away. "Don't get us wrong, keep playing."

Rafe didn't seem to be bothered by the ruckus around him. He stood in front of Jessica again and smirked. "Hey, you guys have guessed it right. I'm Jessica's envoy. What's the matter?"

Trevor, who had been gawking by the side, stepped out. His expression was sullen as his lips parted. "If you beat me, I will increase your year-end bonus tenfold." Everyone was dumbfounded when they heard the news.

"Mr. Gulliford? I can't believe a

powerful figure from the top actually comes and plays volleyball with us!" This was the exclamation that echoed in everyone's mind.

"M-Mr. Gulliford, I was merely throwing a joke," Rafe stammered.

He just wanted to pick up a girl, never did he expect he would provoke such a powerful figure.

"But I'm not.'

Trevor took off his coat and handed it to Martin.
